bette sue l couldn't agree with you more they were both sweet & you could see how much love they had for each other. He did die to soon loved them both.
I was a young child in 1978 but I can remember shows like this..., real entertainment not the crap we have today. I remember my parents would watch things like this on television. Unfortunately I was too young to understand and how important it was.And how I wish now I was old enough to have been able to appreciate it.
Bobby and Elaine were so attractive funny and sweet together. so much talent there . I will never forget Bobby and his incredible talent and their great love for each other. still miss him so much

It's so nice to see that people still no and actually like Bobby van and Elaine Joyce he was my grandfather's sister's son like that second my dad's first cousin and my sex and my second cousin I met him during the last time I saw him was at the place where No No Nanette you got my sister and I tickets and at the end they got to go backstage and meet Ruby Keeler Apache Kelly Jack to her and all those people it was really nice and we were all shocked when he passed away please excuse the typos I'm blind
You want to get blown away with Bobby Van's talent look up Bobby Van in 1953 on RUclips! That dance number he did in the retail store will knock your socks off!
I have seen hundreds of productions, and the 1977 production of "Anything Goes",with Bobby Van and Ann Miller was the best! We will never see the likes of this talent again!
This is the first time I've actually seen them perform (either separately or together), they both are tremendously talented, I didn't know how good they were! Fantastic talent!
Bobby Van was great talent who left us way too soon.Elaine Joyce was also very talented & quite a beauty.I I worked at the old Harrah's Lake Charles Casino with a waitress who bore a strong resemblance to her.
She starred in an episode of Murder She Wrote where she Connie Stevens and Anne Francis did a spoof on the Mcguire Sisters it truly showed off her great musical talent.
Bobby Van was in the movie, LOST HORIZON (1973) and he sang, “Question Me an Answer” along with his dancing. I saw this movie at the Saturday Matinee in Twin Falls, Idaho and I enjoyed this movie a lot. The movie can be seen in its full entirety on you tube. I’ll watch this movie from time to time. It’s such a great story, made into a movie.
Two of my favorite performers. She was such a pretty girl. And watching Bobby Van always made you feel good. He was so talented! Too bad the kids today don't know who he was. She is now married to playwright Neil Simon.
@kiyonexus no, I was referring to "Back Then" as in when I was a teenager. I thought he was lucky to have such a beautiful, funny and talented wife i was very sad when I heard on the news that he had passed away. And even now looking back he and Elaine seemed truly happy and while she continued her career in public she must have been devastated by her loss. But again clearly my comment was about what I thought in the past before his death as I was a teenager during their game show days.
As Hugh Jackman was performing at the Tony's I kept thinking, "hey, they stole that from Bobby Van". And then the video scene from the movie "Small Town Girl" was on the wall as Hugh hopped by. Superb!!!
Bobby was a real trouper... He and Elaine hosted the Mrs. America pageant just a month before he passed away. I remember watching that show and he apologized for his appearance (he was a little heavier due to his cancer treatments). They both put on a heck of a performance that night. I was shocked when he left us about four weeks later.
Ahh Bobby Van. He reminds me sooo much of someone else from the Broadway musical stage and very involved with "The Tony Awards". That would be Hugh Jackman. Bobby and Hugh are such great dancers and soo light on their feet. Just tremendous. And yes he was taken from us way too soon. Just two years later in 1980, he would die at the young age of 51 from cancer. His illness must have went fast because you sure couldn't tell here that there were any signs at all. He just looked really healthy here.
Incredibly talented pair. Today Elaine Joyce lost her second husband Neil Simon, which brought me here. So sorry for her losses but she married a couple of talented princes!
Bobby and Elaine's story had an odd start that took me by surprise when I learned about it. Bobby actually filed for an annulment just days after they got married in Las Vegas. He claimed that Elaine lied to him about wanting to have children, having only said that, so that he would marry her. She was only 24 at time, and, perhaps, she was still emotionally immature. In the end, of course, they remained married, and they always appeared to be very happy. They did have a child - their daughter, Taylor. And on the Sally Jesse Raphael Show (here on RUclips), she appeared as a guest after his death, and she definitely expressed much grief regarding his passing.
Elaine even said herself their marriage was perfect after he died, even though they got off to a rough start. I guess true love really does conquer all
It is out on dvd it is Season 6 Episode 16 of Murder She Wrote Episode Title: The Big Show of 1965. Also if you have Netflix it is available for instant viewing. A really cute one.
Of course, Bobby Van and Elaine Joyce hosted game shows...Bobby Van hosted three ('Showoffs', 'The Fun Factory' and 'Make Me Laugh'), but did not live to see Elaine Joyce host 'The All-New Dating Game' because he died from a brain tumor in the summer of 1980.
Hi you could tell those 2 really loved one another saw them on tattle tales they knew one another pretty well may some slip ups but most the time they were on spot well that's my opinion on it for me this was lovely to watch thanks and peace✌️🤗😇
I have always assumed that anyone playing the Music Man might give an excellent performance, but would always be under the shadow of NOT being Robert Preston, who clearly owned this role. But Bobby Van is brilliant. Even in this short clip, he shows that he can clearly become Harold Hill just as completely as did Preston.
I always thought Elaine Joyce was a beauty and an excellent actress but I have never seen her legs before. CRIKEY! They are absolutely beautiful like the rest of. I’ve never, ever seen Elaine Joyce look as stunningly gorgeous as in this video of her.
At first I thought I was looking at the Yankees player, Bobby Mercer. Talk about everyone has a twin out there somewhere, well I found the twin of Bobby Van, and they share the same first name, what a coincidence.
Thanks for the tip. I will be checking that out. She likes older men: she's been married twice; and both times it was to men around 15 years older then she.
Still kept in touch with his family all the family my grandfather has 11 brothers and sisters it was a big family and does anybody know what his real last name is that was who that was and again please excuse the typos I'm blind and the speech to text stinks

Another thing is how these Goodson/Toddman shows drew on Broadway stars, which is why they were mostly unknown to the rest of us. Since Broadway stage shows rarely get a wider audience from TV the rest of us on the left were much less aware. You don't see stage stars now when all the shows tape in Los Angeles. I loved these 2 back in the day. Funny thing: does anyone else think this song & dance is pretty cheesy by todays standard. I mean u can see better at a high school play nowadays. Sorry Im not trying to troll.
@littlebitacate: I agree. They are likable and do their best to sell it but the choreography is essentially 'the olde soft shoe' that dates back to vaudeville.
I always adored these 2. It just broke my heart when Bobby passed away so young. They certainly were one of the sweetest couples.
+bette sue I agree with you 100%
very true

@kiyonexus Yes - very strange indeed. What game show was it?

I was always a huge fan of Bobby Van. He was so talented and humble, charming. He and Elaine were precious together.
Amazing ... I don't think we will ever see entertainment of this caliber again ...
I really believe these 2 were made for each other. Unlike most Hollywood couples, Bobby and Elaine would have lasted forever
awesome...they don't have entertainment like this anymore....R.I.P
These two were always so lovely and sweet together. Very sad that Elaine had to lose him so soon. All my love to her and to Bobby in Heaven.
Bobby and Elaine were so attractive funny and sweet together. so much talent there . I will never forget Bobby and his incredible talent and their great love for each other. still miss him so much

They seemed to be so much in love. How lucky they were to have found each other.

Bobby Van perform
Please look at Bobby Van in 1953 on RUclips! Amazing!
@@vikings844 He never changed! He looks as young here as he did then!
They were one of the most attractive couples I've ever seen.
Poor guy didn't live long but he sure had fun while he was here, as you can see.
And he got to be with Elaine Joyce
It's not how long you live, but how much you live! ;)
Is that available somewhere? I can't get enough of her.
A beautiful, bubbly lady. Bobby was a lucky man.
And you can tell; he knew it.
My goodness Elaine Joyce is such a beautiful woman. I only knew Bobby Van from the game show. How nice to see them having such a wonderful time.
The visual definition of "soul mates". The cutest couple ever. Tragic what happened to Bobby.
Bobby and Elaine you rock the house down. Miss you Bobby , rest in peace. Elaine you are strong woman, God bless you.

Bobby Van was pure entertainment!!! Elaine is so beautiful and electrifying 😍.
I still see her on old reruns of “Match Game ‘78…
Loved Bobby Van, a true entertainer.
Elaine adored Bobby❤ They were the cutest couple, soulmates. He died so unexpectedly of brain cancer at 52.

yes, the rule of thumb is you can steal anything as long as you give credit.. writers do it wittily all the time, and musicians cover stuff
