I went to En Vogue’s 20th Anniversary here in Atlanta at Chastain Park and had a blast front row! Silk and Toni Tony Tone were special guests. The time of my life!!!❤❤❤❤❤
Fell in LOVE with the voices and Beauty of ALL OF THESE BEAUTIFUL BLACK WOMEN. Sad to hear about all of the management and financial issues...but this age old theme appears to part of the music world. I will say, at some point, she has to accept some responsibility for not reading or understanding contracts. Fool me once...shame on you...fool me twice...well you know the rest. Wish her and all of these BEAUTIFUL Sisters peace in their lives!!
Who raised this woman? You don't trust anybody until they prove themselves trustworthy. Thinking someone is gonna have your back when it comes to helping with money is so delusional. Most people are gonna lie, especially after they've gotten what they need from you. Can't believe she didn't read the contract with Lucy Pearl after all the issues with the En Vogue contract
You are right. The Music Business SHOULDN'T be this way but it's been this way FOREVER. There's been TOO MANY people that have spoken out on bad contracts. There's been songs, movies and tv shows addressing how SLIMEY the Music Business is. I don't know why she's painting Dawn as "The Victim". She should have just made a video spotlighting the positive things in Dawn's career.
So you've got zero energy for Raphael Siddique? You just get to victim blaming straight away- gotcha. You probably the same pick me type to still support R Kelly.
She needs to pay more attention to what folks do than what they say. You should have asked Raphael for 6 months of her bills if he didn't have much up front money. THEN PAY MY BILLS UP TO 6 MONTHS AND WE CAN TALK AGAIN IN 4 MONTHS. Hello! No way should she have let him say he had her back with nothing to show, just talk then she lost her house. Please. Be smarter. Watch what they do not what they say.
It's so sad how black people did their own people wrong, taking their 💰 instead of helping them yes she didn't read contact but why black people take advantage instead of educating them
She "didn't read the contract" is not a footnote! Music executives are not there to educate people who refuse to read their contract. You can't get taken advantage of if you read some BS then have your agent and/or attorney negotiate until you're happy. She's guilty of not reading her contract MORE THAN ONCE and believing some dude when he told her he'd have her back if and when she needs some money. Uh. . .what a dummy!
They should bring in laws to protect artists from these corrupt music management companies. They need protecting because these are the same singers and artists who generate billions and we enjoy listening to day in and day out.
A law(s) would still not change anything in the music industry. It's all about reading and understanding the contract. So many artists and actors want their music and acting careers So Bad that they do not read the fine print and get good and trust worthy lawyers. Then years later they're screaming about how they did not get paid. Well...did they read the contract? TLC told their story all to well about this crooked music industry.
What our people need more than anything is to educate themselves in the business side of show. Not show business. The artist is the talent and must protect their own interests The music industry plays on most young entertainers youth and inexperience when negotiating contracts. Have a lawyer explain it to you until you understand it! Never sign a contract without knowing and understanding the terms. Had Dawn educated herself with the business side she may have come out better but complaining about money and contracts after they’re signed confirms she didn’t. I loved Dawn with En Vogue and Lucy Pearl and I believe she was not paid her worth. I wish her the best and hope that when it’s all said and done she comes out on top
What you need to do is educate yourself in understanding that we need to go independent if we don't want to be screwed over. These systems were not designed for us to create generational wealth off. And the ones that do, stay exploiting their own community i.e. Diddy, LA Reid etc.
So much talent. I have seen both EnVogue and Lucy Pearl live in concert. Dawn Robinson was a stand out talent in both groups. It's sad to hear these types of stories. Raphael Saadiq is still getting paid. He wrote Beyonce's latest song 16 Carriages.
That nothing new . One of the oldest tricks in the business. When new artists come on the scene the company had them push their age. Back. Sometimes 5 or 6 years.
Despite their pushing their ages back for the public, here is the true breakdown: Cindy Herron- Sept. 26, 1961 Maxine Jones- Jan. 16, 1962 Terry Ellis- Sept. 5, 1963 Dawn Robinson- Nov. 24, 1965 All information provided by: CA Dept. of Motor Vehicles (Herron) Patetson, NJ Eastside High School (Jones) Houston, TX Worthing High School and Prairie View A&M University (Ellis) San Leandro (CA) High School (Robinson).
I can tell and feel her spirituality, ahe was used and abused, she has a kind soul, a beautiful soul, and cares about humanity, she deserves the best out of her career ❤️
I would love to see the original members and the newest member, do what Salt n Peppa and SWV did and that is do a reality TV show putting the pieces back together and recording an album and then tour TOGHETHER with a new look and new attitude and contracts where they are all making that money, while securing their legacy I can even see them doing a Vegas Residency after touring together again! So PLEASE ladies, you owe it to yourselves and your legacy! GET IT TOGETHER!
Sounds like the problem is bigger than that. EnVogue sold millions of albums back in the day. Sounds like they were exploited financially by higher ups. Regardless of what she does with that group the pay isn't going to increase substantially from what she is saying. She said she walked away from making another studio album due to there being no financial benefit for her. Someone got paid big off of the group, it just was not the women in the group.
Who would believe anything she says?! This is a woman who refuses to read her contract time and time again. And, she lets a guy verbally tell her that he'll have her back when she needs money. She's a damn fool! Of course she's gonna say she left of her own accord because she knows her worth. Hogwash! Quick Dawn. . .what's 2 + 2? @@orlandorobinson9369
It is also EXTREMELY likely she exaggerates the money the girls made. It's impossible that she only got paid a couple pennies per album, it's literally illegal. I personally believe that they made 1000s of dollars per record sold, but Dawn was mad they weren't making six or seven digits, so she quit, lied about the pay and then convinced Maxine into following her lie.
This platform hopefulyi will give more credence to Dawn Robinson. Such a talent. What happened to her book, new music etc. Good luck and god blessed you🎉
When I was a kid, I loved Dawn out of all the members. She just always stood out to me. The industry is truly diabolical. So many artists were done dirty. In no way should she not be able to pay her bills from all she gave to the industry in the 90s-00's.
There's nothing spectacular about being cheated out of money by people who you thought you could trust. The same thing happened to JADE and TLC. Lord help these ladies cause no else are.
Dawn is one of my favorites. Unfortunately, the people who are getting all the money are the producers and not the artist. This is why many artists are now self producing their own albums so they can get the full benefits and enjoy the fruits of their labor. Before any business is done, every line in that contract should be dissected.
This story has been told so many times... Dawn and Max had many opportunities to make En Vogue a success again in 2010, but chosen to leave the group...
It is very sad. There’s definitely a difference between business and the talent to create art. It seems there’s so much more to this show business then we see from the outside. The business, pressures from substance abuse and sexual exploitation. It’s crazy . Not an easy place to navigate. Worst of all there’s no such thing as retirement. They make a little money and have nothing set up for the future. They have to consistently tour for the rest of their lives. I’m thinking about New Edition, TLC, SWV. This is very sad.
Nicely worded. Add George Clinton of Parliament to your list of entertainers with huge hits that still must tour due to lack of money needed to retire.

Dawn Robinson is a living legend! 🌟💐She was/is the best vocalist out both the groups even though I 💚 En Vogue and Lucy Pearl. I wish her much success!
These bad contracts are terrible. TLC told us about this.
Even before TLC, "we" learned about this.
She was amazing in the group En Vogue and with Lucy Pearl❤❤❤❤Wishing her the best of everything 🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾
She was always my favorite in the group
It still Fustrates me they were being treated like that...
And end up being broke...
I really miss Dawn and Maxime in Envouge..
Cause they were giving Envouge the Soul Funky Rocky sound... ( the real vibe)...
I wish Dawn and Maxim all the Best... And May God Bless them open doors in the Entertainment that NO one can Close... 🙏🏼
❤✌🏼From The Netherlands...
It's not En Vogue without Dawn and Maxine, it's some other creation. If the original members came together today, they would still do well. They are already iconic and have a firm legacy.
@@amajtheory fact..💯and indeed Iconic. 👌🏼❤️
This!
Dawn & Cindy are perfectly fine and are making plenty of money without her cause they didn't give up.
Hi dawn , always loved you and the group. Go to god, speak the word. Nothing in this world is stable or long lasting. Secure your place in heaven ❤🙌🏾✊🏿
HAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHA!!!
This is the kind of woman I'd love to meet. So smart and organic.
Don't seem that smart....not reading contracts
I know. But I am referring to her outstanding talents, personal drive and overall contributions to music.@@meeksluv
She was smart enough to see that smt was wrong with the way her group was treated, and also smart enough to walk away. Unfortunately not walking off with a bigger cheque, but well.
I don't know but.. I always loved how dawn looked like a black kim basinger😂😂 every time I see see kim.. She black.. I tickle myself
Omg I see it!! Iconic!! 🔥
@@scorpionwarrior9179 u see it too😂😂
Don't insult Dawn
@@truthiscensored um.. Kim is gorgeous.. Are u ok
They do look alike 😊
This is so sad. I pray she will be okay, and eventually properly compensated for her awesome talent and hard work.
Prayer won't get her compensated; however, reading her contract will.
We treat our own just as bad as they do ..Greed is destroying this world...In 2024 we should be better than this.
No we don't. They get on code when it comes to Black Americans. Other melanated groups are just as on code as them folks when it comes to us .. that's simplistic .. it's deeper
Once you realize that no one truly has your back, that is when you truly understand how the world works... only then will you move accordingly.
She was always my favorite, wishing Dawn the best! 🫶🏽✨
Love those ladies still today..
I understand the 1st record deal being bad, maybe even the 2nd record deal being bad, but 3rd, 4th & more.... Absolutely not!!!
I had the same thought. I *CLEARLY* see a trend in the way she "operates."
Dawn robinson is the best singer. Please come back to us!!!!!
My gawwwd, she is *GORGEOUS*
Who raised this woman? You don't trust anybody until they prove themselves trustworthy. Thinking someone is gonna have your back when it comes to helping with money is so delusional. Most people are gonna lie, especially after they've gotten what they need from you. Can't believe she didn't read the contract with Lucy Pearl after all the issues with the En Vogue contract
Right. She seems incredibly naive.
Excuse me. Who raised you? Ever had to broker your talent? Right, cause you got none.
I'm not surprised about En Vogue, they were signed to the plantation known as ATLANTIC Records🔋💀🥀
Knew her as a toddler stopping by on Coit street as her momma pushed her stroller in new london connecticut...be blessed Dawn❤
It's so sad how black people did their own people wrong, taking their 💰 instead of helping them yes she didn't read contact but why black people take advantage instead of educating them
Your correct, been saying that for years, they never educate them
She "didn't read the contract" is not a footnote!
@@karenayers6793 wow yes she didn’t read again that’s why people like me educate my people instead of taking advantage of their ignorance
Do unto other as youu would expect the to do unto you!
@@karenayers6793well said
Dawn has always been the flyest of the group. I wish her much success. Keep holding on Dawn❤
They should bring in laws to protect artists from these corrupt music management companies. They need protecting because these are the same singers and artists who generate billions and we enjoy listening to day in and day out.
Exactly! I hope Congress takes a serious look and makes changes.
It's been going on for decades I don't see it happening 😮
Those laws already exist. It's called Kindergarten through 12th grade. Reading and Arithmatic will take you a long way in life.
@localmatterspodcastofgeorg3624 😂😂😂 Right. Cause ",congress" site around and trys to figure out how to help musicians. Uh huh. Wait for that.
The problem is they get these people at a young age.
She is still the most unforgettable member since the first time I saw and heard Dawn. May God Bless and Keep Her Whole, from the inside out.
500k! I pray that triples year after year after year for generations to come.💖
She is very down to earth, very genuine and kind. She was one of my Instagram friends❤
For some reason i was really shocked to hear she was born in 1966.
Facts, she looks much younger😮❤
@@dede8089 She really does. She's a beautiful woman
That nothing new . One of the oldest tricks in the business. When new artists come on the scene the company had them push their age. Back. Sometimes 5 or 6 years.
@@garysmith8073I've always heard or read that , well that was her birth year, i don't believe or remember Ibever heard anything different at least
Despite their pushing their ages back for the public, here is the true breakdown:
Cindy Herron- Sept. 26, 1961
Maxine Jones- Jan. 16, 1962
Terry Ellis- Sept. 5, 1963
Dawn Robinson- Nov. 24, 1965

She’s a force for sure! Fighting to get paid her worth!!!
I can tell and feel her spirituality, ahe was used and abused, she has a kind soul, a beautiful soul, and cares about humanity, she deserves the best out of her career ❤️
Dawn Robinson has and will always have my respect..I've seen her at some Independent artist workshops and gave out great advice...
Dawn has an amazing voice..
Someone got paid big off of the group, it just was not the women in the group.
facts and you know by who
screwed by the wm behind the desk with a secretary with red lipstick and blonde hair that says he's in meetings all dayv
Dawn is the problem and plays the victim. As beautiful and talented as she is, she has a long track record of breakups, divorces, and quitting. Sad.
She'll always be known for her voice AND her Beauty... She is Gorgeous 💖
Dawn's downfall was not being educated enough and cautious enough to read and understand the fine prints of the contracts she signed. Poor choices!!
I hope she gets ALL the good that’s coming to her. Blessings to her❤🙏🏽
Dawn, Nia Long, and the Fields sisters could play sisters in a movie
Funny this popped up on my feed…. I’ve been listening to Dance Tonight all week 🙂
I've been thinking bout the song and signing in my head as well as don't let go love and saw this. AI is getting out of hand.
Two pennies album deal-revoke royalties. Time to call lawyer and do an audit 😮
Yeah when I heard her say that, I was like wth?! 😮
Dawn is amazing inside and out.
Dawn can stay with me anytime!❤️
I wish she could stay with me too frfr 😢
Reminds me of Kelis, and how Pharrell did her. Too many women in the industry have this same story.
This isn't exclusive to females, tons of men in the industry have the same story. This isn't something that is only unique to women.
This is sad. As an Oakland native, seeing En Vogue and the Toni's success was inspiring. Hope all is well with her.
i love her song we gonna dance tonight
There's nothing spectacular about being cheated out of money by people who you thought you could trust. The same thing happened to JADE and TLC. Lord help these ladies cause no else are.
Dawn is one of my favorites. Unfortunately, the people who are getting all the money are the producers and not the artist. This is why many artists are now self producing their own albums so they can get the full benefits and enjoy the fruits of their labor. Before any business is done, every line in that contract should be dissected.
Dawn has always been so beautiful to me, since I was a lil girl watching them on tv & she still is. Wishing you the best in life, Ms Robinson! 🫡 💛💛
Dawn probably my 2ndfavorite but Cindy always be #1 favorite in my opinion ❤️
Gotta blame themselves for looking through rose colored glasses and NOT hiring attorneys, and not saving or investing.
Nicely worded. Add George Clinton of Parliament to your list of entertainers with huge hits that still must tour due to lack of money needed to retire.
I love her style and her music I hope she gets everything that's owed to her.
Dawn was always my favorite ❤️
Hi Stardust Daily. I loved Dawn Robinson with Lucy Pearl the best❣️. Dance Tonight & Don't Mess With My Man were my two favorites. En Vogue was awesome as well, but Dawn & Rapheal won my heart💞💜💅💄💋🧸
Listen, En Vogue was EVERYTHING when I was growing up!! I literally thought I was one of the members...lol..Hold On was the jam!! They were so sexy and classy.
They were angelic. Outstanding in every way true artist. I miss their class
