Man you're not kidding. So many of these one-liners I saw when they aired, and they stuck with me to the point where I've used them without fail making people laugh for the last 40 years. I'm not a comic but I was doing Richard Lewis. God bless him. We were all young once
What are you talking about? All Lettterman did was fake laugh trying to make him sound funny. Literally nothing Richard Lewis said was funny. He was given the platform like so many in the entertainment industry because of their religion with no talent whatsoever. People are blind to who has owned Hollywood forever and bs propaganda they put out.
This is a real treasure. Loved the two of them together. Dave laughing at his jokes just makes you laugh even more . May his memory forever be a blessing .
This is a wonderful collection of clips. He always had so much fun with David and it is a joy to see them again in the wake of Richard’s death. I had the privilege to work with Richard on a Super Bowl commercial in 2011 for Snickers and spent the day with him having a wonderful time. We did a lot of ad-libbing about gazebos. He was so very funny. It was voted the number one Super Bowl commercial that year and it played all over the states- because he was just so funny. May he rest in peace.
Losing Rodney Dangerfield Losing Norm Macdonald hurt terribly. There is something next level hurt about losing Richard Lewis He was so absolutely beloved
I miss him already. I had the biggest crush on him growing up and I got lucky and called into a radio show he was on when he was touring in Miami. He was so nice and funny just talking to me and made me love him even more.
I had a crush on him too growing up. I tried to call into a radio station in Tampa trying to win tickets to see him. I did not win the tickets so I bought them. I roared with laughter. Never met him but I got one peak at him through a side door afterward. I was so happy I saw his standup live. So so sad he's gone just like that.
This was wonderful! Thank you so much for a great tribute to Richard Lewis. Forgot how funny he really was. Sadly, he left us at a time when his humor is needed more than ever before. RIP, Mr. Lewis.
Richard Lewis on Late Night was one of those guests you knew had a chance of making you laugh till you cried, especially when he was going "1,000 miles an hour".
Oh boy, what an incredible set of clips y'all put together! Richard was a must see back in those days. Love that last bit when Dave gives Richard an epic compliment.
Great tribute - I always loved Richard with Dave and they had such fun chemistry - I"m sure Dave's devastated :( I remember watching them with my dad and he'd always say about Lewis 'He's a nervous wreck' between laughs. One of stand-up's best.
Wow...just heard Richard Lewis has passed and my first reaction was shock and hurt. Loved watching the guy...he was Paul Reiser before Paul Reiser. Always thought Jon Stewart captured his vibe. Just a sad loss. Thank you for the laughs Mr. Lewis...gone but never forgotten.
Seen lots of Lewis-Letterman clips on YT/elsewhere. This really tops everything in terms of novelty and great retranscription of preexisting stuff, from Lewis's career. Honestly I wish they could have shown all of Richard's appearance from Late Night's "Too Tired To Do A Show". Imo that was the crowning jewel of Richard's panel work and under adverse circumstances. *RIP* Richard Lewis
Richard just seemed like such a fun guy to hang out with. Would love to have been able to sit at a diner slugging back coffee with him at 2am and just let him talk. I hope this is what he's doing in heaven.
Babe in Yiddish!😆Love this, Richard was the best. And YES, the best dressed, cat was slick! Hip! I feel a little broken hearted every time I remember he has died. But the laughs he gave us, eternal. Thank you Richard!
its something to think how fleeting life is. just short of 7 years ago we lost don rickles, and now we are saying goodbye to the next generation of comedians already. bittersweet. God bless from a gentile named Richard.
Such a tough period of loss for those of us who’s life has been enriched by these comedians: Norm, Gilbert and now Richard ( I know there are a couple others I have omitted ) RIP
“Lose five lbs and communicate w/ the dead.” Hahaha 🤣😆 Richard Lewis was a phenomenal comedian. My brother always says “forget about it.” I didn’t realize Richard Lewis says that phrase a lot. RIP 🙏🏻✝️❤️
Their chemistry was fantastic. What a joy to watch these moments again.

When we were still free. When you didn't exclude people. When we were free.
What a brilliant tribute, thanks. He really brought out some zingers from Dave too, didn't he. They seemed like great friends.
This is a real treasure. Loved the two of them together. Dave laughing at his jokes just makes you laugh even more . May his memory forever be a blessing .

A wonderful walk down memory lane ❤ Thanks, Dave❤
RiP Richard. I grew up watching him.
He made my family , friends and myself laugh countless times.
Prayers sent.

This was an absolute treat. Thanks for posting. Rest in Peace Richard 🙏
10:27 when you hear Dave cackle like that, you know you hit it out of the park! RIP to an all-time great!
"Who's Fred Travelena?!" deep cut. Loved it.
I love around the 15:00 min mark the hair dye on his hands. It's been talked about many times. Still cracks me up
what a time that was to be alive. richard will forever be prince john to me. rip.
Richard Lewis was always best on the Letterman Show. He and Dave had that special chemistry that Richard didn't have with any other talk show host.
That was so so good. Thank you to whoever put that together.
Richard Lewis on Late Night was one of those guests you knew had a chance of making you laugh till you cried, especially when he was going "1,000 miles an hour".
The first bit: Tinder in LA from 2014-2017 was the best time I've had in my life
Rest in Peace Mr. Lewis, thanks for the laughs ❤
Richard Lewis will be sadly missed. Great compilation!
THANK YOU for this most fitting tribute to a great comedian.
Great tribute, thanks Mr. Letterman!
Richard was so damn funny, thank you Dave for having him on over the years!
thank you to whoever put this together!
Richard Lewis has kept me laughing since the 1970s. RIP, you silly, brilliant, and charming comedian.
Richard Lewis was amazing. His joke delivery was one of a kind. He was one of first self deprecating comics. Never scared to make fun of himself
I'm sure I saw most of these when they first aired on Letterman. Thanks for these clips. I laughed out loud like the first time
He was a beautiful, funny, open book of a man. R.I.P. Richard Lewis.
"You want ME to relax!!!" 😂 Such great memories. Thank you all. ❤
Oh boy, what an incredible set of clips y'all put together! Richard was a must see back in those days. Love that last bit when Dave gives Richard an epic compliment.
RIP, Richard. Thanks for all the laughs!
Always loved Richard Lewis. He will be deeply missed. RIP.
This made me laugh hysterically and then cry at the end. Thank you so much ❤.
I loved him. I’m so sad about his illness and passing. Nobody had a style like Richard.
Keith Olbermann just did a wonderful tribute to Lewis on his podcast, saying Lewis was truly the kindest person you could ever want to know.
I loved everything about RL. From his standup over the years, talk show appearences and of course Curb. I cried today. I laughed watching this.
I was so upset to hear that he passed. Rest in Peace, Richard. I already miss you!
Yeah he was great! He had the best one liners! Some of my favorite curb moments were his reactions to Larry.
Great tribute - I always loved Richard with Dave and they had such fun chemistry - I"m sure Dave's devastated :( I remember watching them with my dad and he'd always say about Lewis 'He's a nervous wreck' between laughs. One of stand-up's best.
Thanks for this, nice compilation. Forgotten how funny he was.
Most memorable face of the 80's and the 90's... i love him so much.
Rest in peace dear richard.
Richard made me laugh every time. Loved him. Thanks for sharing.
I loved when he was on with Dave.
I had such a crush on this man growing up. May his soul be at peace.
A crush? On Rochard Lewis?
@@concernedcitizen1382 Yes I love crazy white guys lol
I never heard of him until now, but I have been binge watching. Love this guy. If I could go back in time, I would have married this guy.
@@concernedcitizen1382 I guess I had a thing for Jewish neurotic guys lol
Funny guy! Thanks for putting this together. Richard Lewis will be missed. The world is becoming a darker place.
He looks just like my friend of 54 years. RIP Richard Lewis.
Richard Lewis had a damn good head of hair.

I always remembered when Richard was going to be on late night and staying up since the beginning RIP RL thanks for all the laughs
Richard just seemed like such a fun guy to hang out with. Would love to have been able to sit at a diner slugging back coffee with him at 2am and just let him talk. I hope this is what he's doing in heaven.
quite frankly, he was wonderful
Babe in Yiddish!😆Love this, Richard was the best. And YES, the best dressed, cat was slick! Hip! I feel a little broken hearted every time I remember he has died. But the laughs he gave us, eternal. Thank you Richard!
One of the greatest! RIP Richard Lewis. You were so funny 😂
All hail the Prince of Pain...RIP Richard Lewis
Thank you so much for this. RL was the best. And DL too.
R.I.P. RIchard Lewis, enjoy your next journey!
Brilliant Comic. Here's to Richard Lewis. Thanks, Dave.
Rest in Peace Mr. Lewis. I also miss Dave. All of the new host can't compare.
Richard Lewis was born to be a comedian in the very best sense of the word: masterful, human and brilliant!
He was a gem. ❤
Loved this guy. Miss him already
What a cool gig. Everybody he talked to, was his Doctor or Therapist, and he was the one getting paid. Thats how you work it.
"Ow! You're on my hair" Soooo funny.
Really only knew him from curb appearances so can't wait to watch more. Madcap stuff is great. Brilliant banter between the 2😂
In tears, it’s that hilarious!
This one had me howling. Very underrated comic nowadays, even though he's on Curb. That "sleuce o' putza" bit slayed me back in the day
Richard Lewis was the BEST.😂
Rest in Peace Richard! Thanks 4 everything 🔥
its something to think how fleeting life is. just short of 7 years ago we lost don rickles, and now we are saying goodbye to the next generation of comedians already. bittersweet. God bless from a gentile named Richard.
actually all the best born in the 50s and many in the 60s were wiped out first. now we backtrack to the 40s
Such a tough period of loss for those of us who’s life has been enriched by these comedians: Norm, Gilbert and now Richard ( I know there are a couple others I have omitted ) RIP
That was really outstanding.
I remembered loving his comedy but watching this brought it all back. Such a unique comedic perspective..( libido locked in a tomb in Egypt )
Thanks Dave
Dave, my condolences on the passing of your friend😢.
Loved ones pass on; they're still w us💞; they never pass away
“A slooce of poozzi with anchoovies “ 😂😂😂
The Other Great Depression was great. Rest Peacefully. True talent
R.I.P. to one of the greats--thank you for making this fantastic montage of malaise.
The part near the end when Richard flips over Dave’s notes is great 😅
He gave us so much joy ~
Great comedy he gave us many great moments thank you
First manic, stream of consciousness comic. Like maron. Coined the phrase "blank" from hell. Also went out with grace kelly. What a life.
Thank you
" who are you, gorbachev"? LOL
"A sluce of puzza with ancheevees". Guy's a riot.
Amazing Richard. Another one-off sadly gone, but one of the best whilst here. Thanks for the laughs
My favorite Richard Lewis joke was when he said he was on the marquee with "King crab."
I didn't know about Richard Lewis until I was in my 30s (Born in 1984). The man is absolute GOLD!!!
Love love love Richard Lewis!
richard was certainly in the top10 if there ever was one❣
Whenever Richard Lewis comes on the screen I get a flash in the head that what’s about to happen is going to be a roller coaster of funny
A true comedy legend❤😢
thank you so much for including one of my favorite moments --
"you mean a sluce a' pootza with ancheebies ?"
8:49
I've been watching these guys my whole life...from young man to elderly is really just a blink.
The best Richard Lewis is his appearances on Curb Your Enthusiasm. Loved his semi-fictional version of himself on Curb. Very lovable character.
This one was born a pro.
The lion joke @ 7:20, CLASSIC Richard Lewis! 🤣
His delivery and cadence is like a homage to Lenny Bruce.
Richard was a good human.. through and through. He and his hair will be missed!
I miss the Late 20th Century, what a great time to live....
“Lose five lbs and communicate w/ the dead.” Hahaha 🤣😆 Richard Lewis was a phenomenal comedian. My brother always says “forget about it.” I didn’t realize Richard Lewis says that phrase a lot. RIP 🙏🏻✝️❤️
