I love how Yamarz knows he's too weak to kill a _single_ giant, but after watching you kill _three_ giants in a row, he decides it would be a good idea to try to betray you.

You can get a Daedra Heart for free down in the living quarters (basement) of Jorrvaskr; it's on a plate on a desk by the wall opposite to Kodlak's room.
Stolen daedra heart don't count for the quest, she won't take it. But if you don't want to start the college quest you can seel it to someone that buys stolen stuff and then buy it back so the stolen icon will not be there anymore
This thing made me wish that warhammers had a unique execution animation like great axes that would make your enemy's head explode into chunks instead of beheading them. That always drives me nuts.
I love the reason why they named hammerfell hammerfell just because a hammer fell in hammerfell but then again they did join the Daggerfall Covenant so perhaps they have a thing for falling things
Micheal Hudgens Tbf, and like a certain feltfaced comedian would say, it’s an honest name. “Someone threw a hammer, it fell here. Welcome to Hammerfell.”
There's actually an easier way to get a heart! Start the companions quest and when you are asked to see the leader of the companions you'll see a deadria heart on a plate on the left side of the room where the leader of the companions sits. Simply steal the heart.
malakath: Yaaaamaaaarz do we have a visitooor ? yamarz: Yes siir malakath:Yaaaaamaaaarz Take his coat Warchief:I dont have a coat yamarz:He doesnt have a coat and I believe he is the man who basicaly killed an entire horde malakath:Yaaaamaaaaarz dont take his coat
Yamarz is pretty okay as a Dead Thrall due to his large health amount. Sadly he maxes at level 20 but his health is over 1000 so he tanks but his dps blows later on.
by the way there is an easier way to get a daedra heart all you have to do is go to the companions guild and go downstairs where if you go to where the current "leader" is living you will find one sitting on a plate for free as long as you Dont get caught.
A little note outside the subject about Malacath, there are some voice files where he says we have been proven worthy and he says he rewards us with Volendrung. In the game, when we place the hammer on Malacath's shrine, we get Volendrung but with no dialogue. When I got Volendrung, it felt awkward but I got the daedric artifact anyway.
A great method to get infinite amount of Daedra hearts, since they respawn every single time you go there, is to finish Mehrunes Dagon quest line. Kill the guy in the red robe, after that 2 Daedras will spawn and try to kill you, kill em both and go there as many times as you want to get as many Daedras hearts as you want.
If you want to keep your precious gold, you can also steal a Deadra heart from where you first meet kodlac in jorvasker in whiterun, it will be on a book case across from him
To get daedra hearts you can go to the shrine of Mehrunes Dagon after the quest from the Dawnstar museum and kill some daedra and get a lot of good loot too.
An easier (and cheaper) way to get a Daedra Heart is to go to the Jorrvaskr, go into the room where you speak to Kodlak to join the Companions, move the Daedra Heart from there into a place where you can't be seen, then steal it.
There is a daedra heart in Jorrvaskr but you have to steal it. If you enter the quarters and go down the hall to Kodlak's room there should be one sitting on a plate while Vilkas and Kodlak talk.
Actually, I think it's available at an earlier level. If you don't want to join the college, you can go to the Inn in Dawnstar, where a monk is talking about the dreams plaguing the town. He asked for your help to clear a nearby Temple, which is fairly simple once you know what to expect. There you will find all kinds of alchemical ingredients including troll fat and daedra hearts.
For the heart, Kodlak has one in the room next to his bedroom on a plate in Jorrvaskr, you can either steal it outright or pay the bounty of 250 gold, either way it's cheaper
If you're having trouble with the Giant fights, know that Yarmaz is only one-shot by Giants if you tell him to fight them. Yarmaz is incredibly resilient due to his full Orcish Armor, and he might even be essential until he's supposed to die in the quest. Thus, you can juke the final Giant into Yamarz and use him as a decoy.
There's a witch in a hut near bleak falls where you can get a free deadra heart or you can find a few in kodlak white manes room or on a shelf in college of winter hold
You could also do the Mehrunes Razor quest when you hit lv. 20, and kill the Daedra Dagon spawns if you choose to kill Silus and reforge the Razor. You can then go inside the altar using the key you can pick up from the (leveled!) dremora servants that were spawned, enter the altar, and kill a few more (Leveled!) dremora that will carry Daedra hearts.
The RUclips Phantom Official you could also do the Azuras star which can be done at a much lower level and takes less time for a better daedra artifact
Maybe this wasn't an option in 2017, but you could also buy Dedra Hearts from merchants at early levels. Anywhere between the 700-600+ gold range, but they are still available for purchase.
I did this a few days ago but the hammer the giant should have had didn't spawn. I eventually gave up and went home to sleep. Once I did and pushed the interaction button instead of "how long would you like to sleep for" it said "would you like to serve your sentence?" It turns out that the game still thought u was in cidna mine (after the quest). I "served my time", woke up outside the mine (I was in my house in the pale when I fell asleep) and went to check on the hammer. Low and behold it was there
An easier way of getting a daedra heart is to go into the companions place and pick up the one in the same room you meet kodlak. Easier than trekking to winterhold, passing a test, finding enthir then having to buy it
For the quest to get daedra heart and troll fat buying is easy daedra heart can be found in companians house in in underneath where you find the leader on a plate is a deadra heart
I didnt know this was a reward, I thought it changed for the Malacath offering, so it disappeared. Good thing in my new game, which I really like, I quick-saved and took it. Just in case I wasn't supposed to do that.

Sigh... whenever I see Volendrung I get sad because It reminds me of the save file I accidentally deleted. I was level 40, decked out in heavy armor as an orc with almost 100 (cant remember if it was or not) 2 handed. Then one wrong move and i saved over the wrong file TL;DR have at least 3 saves per character.
almost the same. had the same decked out orc (i mean, common orc build) but my file got corrupted and couldn't get out of the glacial crevice in darkfall cave without crashing. i was sad.
Ok, this question isn't about Volundrung specifically, but, how exactly do you improve a Warhammer?
