Hey there Tony! no problem at all my friend, im so glad you have found it useful, im going to be releasing a full video soon of my entire work flow and process showing everything from start to finish :)
No problem at all, the video suggested at the end of this one, the link is here shows a paid web based solution which is very similar and gives even better results, basically just 3 mouse clicks and its done! there is a few free credits as a trial :) ruclips.net/video/0wu8mtoB-zk/видео.htmlsi=EGxZ_belKnCLJtr9
Hey Jeff, so glad it has helped you! I love sharing stuff like this so people can use it and be creative, ive also got another video regarding making them which gives better results, it is a paid website but you get some free goes, here is the link to my video, it is so simple, you just drag and drop your image and it makes the high detailed map for you, better than the zoe depth ones ruclips.net/video/0wu8mtoB-zk/видео.htmlsi=Y2HSpTcASM3rsXgt
no problem at all, good luck with it! im releasing a big full work flow video for my whole process this weekend, so maybe be of some use also :) thanks for watching!
Cheers Nerd mate! thought id post this one a bit earlier as you were getting into it!, this is basically Chapter 5 of my big video ive got in production (17 chapters in total), hopefully should all be finished by mid next week :)
Thank you! FGS, yes it is a lot to take in in one go, but honestly once you get the process and the steps in order it is pretty simple to do, thank you for watching!, this is a small section ive cut out of a larger full process video im just in the process of making.
Hey Diaxus! thanks for stopping by, its not that bad once you have run through the process, it just learning the work flow, one after the other :) if i can do it anyone can! :)
I'm really new to this and I was able to follow all your instructions which means you did a fantastic job of showing the steps but I am lost on the next steps of getting it to be an STL file to put into Lightburn. I have no idea how to do that part. I will go look at your library and see if maybe you already have that video out there. If not, any help you can give on the next step would be great! Thanks again for your help so far!
many thanks Greg, so happy it has been of some use, Im not totally familiar with lightburn but I think for laser engraving you should be able to just use the depth map once you have created that, as that can be used to engrave with, you do not need the .stl file.
You don’t use STL files with lightburn. Once you have your map all done and saved as a PNG, open in lightburn, double click the settings box on the right, select 3d sliced and enter your settings for whatever material you’re engraving on, set passes to something like 250-300 depending on your lasers power. Last brass coin I did I think I used 353 passes. Turn on cleaning pass to help remove metal dust and you’re all set. If you’ve never made a coin on a laser, you’re looking at around 2-2.5 hours of runtime.
Hey Stu yeah all good here mate, hope you are ok buddy, I'm just in the shed today filming the last parts to the big video this clip came from, I show it all buddy, my entire work flow :) should be out next week.
Hey Chad! thanks for the message, i have tried Depth Anything but it didnt quite work right with how i do stuff for silver pouring, i have not tried Depth Pro, might have to look into that :)
@@SilverPunkPour There's Depth Anything, and Depth Anything V2. V2 was a huge improvement. It came out late summer or early fall if I'm not mistaken. I have been using that for converting images for the CNC along with other methods.
The part where you put the images in GIMP and say 'It will change all the colors for you' does not happen when I drop the images there. Maybe there was a little cut in the video? how to assign the colours of the depth map to the original image? Thanks for posting though, very intresting video!
Hey Sergejg many thanks for watching, on mine, i drag the depth map in first into GIMP, then i just drag the original image on top and it converts it automatically for me, if its not working for you like that, what you need to do is an extra step, you will have to try and convert the original image into a grey scale image, GIMP does mine in 16 bit greyscale. This all said Sergejg, im working on a new video where i showcase another way of doing it which is a lot easier, and only takes 4 to 5 clicks to do the whole thing for you, i will be getting that on youtube very very soon!
Hi there! 8Bit thanks for message, im afraid i do not use Photoshop....if it does not have that option to do it for you, you will need to make alpha channel some other way, im not sure how, very sorry, there is probably a video somewhere about how to do it though!
Hey thanks for watching! im not sure, its something i have not tested yet, i will have a look into it and if it works ok for my process will do another video on it, cheers for stopping by!
I’d like to find a way to use TiledZoeDepth(Map) as a general Web user without having to go into the login world of Google Collab. Other than free Google Search on my Mac, I don’t use other Google tools (on the web or locally) at the moment. I love the higher detail with the tiled approach to ZoeDepth, and your extra detail using GIMP’s gray scale and high-pass filter, then merge with the tiledZoeDepth Map is genius (would never have thought that would work and then get a functional final high-detailed depth map!). I f you do find a non-Google Collab workflow, please let us know. And I subscribed, so I can see your next video showing your whole process. My primary use will be to use these depth maps as the starting point for 3D printing figures and set pieces.
Hi Dovmerrill ! thank for taking the time to watch and leave a message, yeah im really not sure on this, i know you can download it locally and just run it on your machine not sure if this is what you mean? doing that though you would need a lot of computing power, if i do see anything or can come up with something will 100% make a video, my full process video should be out end of next week :)
@@SilverPunkPour Thanks for the reply, and for BuffaloBullioNY’s comment. Sounds like the software runs locally on Windows PCs with Beefy Nvidia cards, but The software probably doesn’t run natively on a Mac. Not surprised the number crunching consumes lots of CPU and/or GPU computation bandwidth.
yeah you are probably right, however i have found another way, which is a lot simpler process and does not take any computing power, im in the process of making a video on it should be ready for the weekend, might be worth you watching out for it :)
Cheers mate, just my way of doing it, i know there is lots of other ways round, but thought it would may help someone who wanted an easy way to get good detail for free :)
in caps...THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR POSTING THIS!!! I've been having the biggest pain to get good depth map results and this worked amazingly!

I have been looking for this for weeks 🤦🏻
