    In some of the comments, it is mentioned that people shouldn't relax their at home. You must consider that not everyone has the means to travel to, or get their hair cared for by a professional, so this kind of thorough, intelligent instruction is needed. In my case, Im across the world and don't have access to a beautician, so as long as videos like this are created, Ill be just fine. Excellent training video

      My biggest fear for doing at home relaxers is rinsing it out. Do you rinse it out in the shower or sink? Any tips on doing it to avoid the the relaxer having contact with other areas of the body.

      @@courtneytaylor8727yes, never rinse in the shower so u can get relaxer all over your body 😫, always face down sink if its done at home

    • @mariajones9102
      @mariajones9102 Год назад

      @@courtneytaylor8727 My preference for consumers is to go to a professional for a relaxer service . If you must do this at home please rinse the product out thoroughly in the sink or tub faucet. A shampoo hose will also be very helpful.

    • @Nat-mw3bz
      @Nat-mw3bz 6 месяцев назад +2

      @@courtneytaylor8727 I would suggest the shower because of two things. First, water pressure is greater in the shower than in the sink, keeping the hair cuticle straightener and don't forget to rinse with your head back to ensure removal of all the relaxer. Second, rinsing in the shower prevents chemicals from making contact with your eyes and face. So, what do you think?

      These stylist don’t want you to tell them anything about your own hair!! I say get out of there while you still got your hair, I lost a ton of hair because my stylist for over 10 years changed products, she says she didn’t but she’s also a lair, the relaxer burn my scalp so bad it broke the skin took a month to heal it was oozing for days, she took no responsibility at all, now I learn to relax my own hair, if anybody screw my hair up I rather for it to be me😡😡😡😡😡😡😡😡😡

      I'm glad I learned to do it myself, I think at 25.
      I am about to be 48 now.
      It came in handy when I was 30.5, because I moved to an entirely different area and no one did relaxers professionally. I am guessing because for most of the part of state I live in, the Black or Mixed with Black population is very very low.

    I wish I could let you retouch my relaxer 😢
    But it's great these videos are out because when we go to the salon, we can be in more control of how they do our hair from what we've leant on RUclips 💕

    I use my hands and I do the outter edges last because they process quick. When I do my own the night before I braid down my hair in at least 6 to 8 sections and that helps me so much doing my own. When I do others I do use the four sections and my relaxers come out bone straight..which do you like no lyr or lye...I do like you applied a base protection to the scalp and the already perms sections to not over process...

      Gail Hopkins Thank you for the lovely comment 😊 This isn’t a new process but I learned of it back in 2018. The product is called Afterglow Post Chemical Normalizer by Vitale. After rising out a relaxer or hair color you follow up with this product and it Infuses positive ions into the hair, Re-aligns the cuticles to give it shine and smoothness and fights against breakage. It also starts neutralizing the hair before the neutralizing shampoo process.

    Plz do a video on different relaxers for different hair textures

  • @meonlymedayday
    @meonlymedayday 3 года назад +4

    Loved the video... Except we are taught to never comb the hair while it is processing because of the chance of irritating the scalp. Arent we supposed to use an applicator brush, the backside of the comb, or our fingertips?

    • @Ashley21138
      @Ashley21138  3 года назад +4

      That’s correct as well. I don’t comb aggressively to smooth it at all. I try to avoid the teeth of the comb scrapping the scalp to avoid irritation

    Where can I find the pre relaxer treatment or can you recommend one that a non professional is able to purchase.

    • @Ashley21138
      @Ashley21138  4 года назад +10

      I apologize for the late reply but the pre chem treatment is only sold to professionals but you can call salons on your are to see if they retail Influancé hair products and if they have the pre chem. You could also get the Design Essentials Protect + Pre-Chemical Treatment online.

      @@dianaanglin4423 Do a test strand in the front and back of your head and see how your hair feels. If you go past the 8-10 minutes your hair will be a little bit more straighter. Truthfully, I think it’ll be fine, but with medium textured hair, leaving a slight wave in it will give it a little body

    i wish you would say something about not wearing jewelry during the process. ive seen ppl in life and on youtube wearing full on jewelry and the chemicals get on the jewelry. i dont see if they clean the jewelry right after but i think its a must to remove during the process. i dont care so much about makeup cause its water soluble .

    • @Ashley21138

      Absolutely! I tell clients to remove all jewelry (except small ear studs) because product gets on it and at the shampoo bowl it gets in the way.

      The chemicals used to create relaxers, even children's relaxers are quite strong. If you choose to do a relaxer, wait until she's at least 6 or 7. Three years old is too young. Instead use coconut oil, olive oil and Shea butter after shampooing her hair to keep it healthy, moisturized and soft. And always use a wide tooth comb to comb her hair. I hope this helps.
