  • In this episode, the Spirits Brothers pay a Black History Month tribute to the Nearest Green Distillery by reviewing two of their bottlings, the 1856 and the 1884. The distillery is named after Nearest Green who was the Master Distiller for Jack Daniels, and a Black man.
The Spirits Brothers also mention other Blacks people involved in the ownership and making of distilled spirits.

I think you guys hit it on the nose with this one (as I’ve had all 3 offerings). All of which have unique flavor profiles in my opinion but yet one can tell they are in the same family. I plan to purchase another bottle of 1856 soon as it is the one that I have experienced least. I was fortunate to “procure” a bottle of the rare 1820 prior to Christmas and was told that only about 150 were allocated to our state. It’s profile is very unique in itself. I am happy to see that several local retailers in the area are now carrying the 1884. Cheers!
