VW transmission removal

It’s been a crazy ride but here’s what I’ve been up to. Feel free to ask me any questions. I decided to put a gti 6 speed manual in the automatic 2.5 jetta. It’s been giving me issues but nothing that I can’t fix eventually haha.

It was smart for you to have the jack underneath the transmission, but not having the car jacked up so high. The transmission didn’t have very far to fall because of this, so nothing will get damaged on the transmission itself.
I’ve done this job 3 times already on my MK7 GTI, but I had some help from friends. I’m now on my fourth time, as my clutch tob/slave took a crap last week, and I’m alone this time. The trans is awkwardly heavy, so I’ve been trying to figure out how to get it out without damaging it. I’ve decided a jack underneath, and a strap tied around it up to my engine support bar up above, and I think I will be good with this setup.

Just buy a low profile transmission jack from harbor freight. You’ll use it more than you think if you’re creative

That was me yesterday 😂 except I did not drop it! But tonight was the tough part which is putting it back in. You have to wrestle it even more to reinsert le little shaft in the clutch and align the bolts... Anyone struggling with this I suggest to install the 2 stater bolts partially to start the reinstall process and from there get under the car and wrestle it until the shaft enters its hole and you can start tightening the remaining bolts.

lol I had to do this same exact thing when I was driving to a buddy’s house my clutch went out. So I ended up driving back In my other car with a new clutch kit. And swapped it on the sidewalk of some random neighborhood. Thank god they are pretty light compared to others. And thank god for my wife. She’s a champ
