What's the longest Techies game you've had to endure? :)
I had the pleasure of winning a around 80 minite game while being the techies! Y'all are weak minded fools with the attention span of a millenial

Almost 2 freaking hours and the best thing was, I was playing techies! But my Team won since I defended the Ancient from the ennemy and super creeps!
For the record, my longest Techies game was 87 minutes and there were 4 divine rapiers in the game
The hero that whether you played good or bad, you can possibly get 9 reports.
Agreed, most players think....
Techies is the bane of both allies and enemies. By making Allies play 4 vs 5 game every push, and enemies by stopping their push progress every inches they move.
Most players think that when its supposed to be them who push the lane instead of just sticking around in the jungle doing nothing.
In my case i see myselfe report my Mid/Savelane more offten then the Techis in my Ranked game , and im a support , Trust me techis can OBLITERATE in the offlane if they are paired with the right hero !!!
But most ppl just pick in the Ultra late Game with a Techis on there team insteed of Picking heros who can Capitalize on the Devastationand Earn off the Tempo
As a techies player I'd say the new techies benefits way more with pushing and teamfights. Stay a bit back, put stasis mines on the sides or where your supports are to prevent jumps and ganks (good counter for pa, sb, spectre, enigma, tide, invis heroes and more), use remote mines on the big treats and get ready to jump on the big initiations (black hole, echo slam, rp, etc) if your'e +50% hp. Also, if you're shamelessly planting mines in the face of your enemies while pushing everyone is gonna be scared to initiate on your team or chase you if you lose the fight. Techies is no longer viable when he's mining the forest and the base without getting any experience.
Just noobs that cant deal(or use) techies properly.

You forgot that there was a point in time where you could stack proximity mines.
Every ledge was a mortal trap!
You couldn't stack proximity mines, those were land mines.
You can however stack proximity mines now using +25 movement speed to mines talent.
Yeah by buying eather lens and getting the talent no 9999 hp carry can survive 15 red mines
@@gula-gulamimpi7918 The problem was never the time or the update. He got the skill name wrong. It was called land mines, not proximity mines.

I love your videos because not only you show us how the hero evolved over the years, but how other mobas did their own versions of the concept of the hero. It's interesting to see how the same basic concept changed direction with another developer
Just found this channel via recommendations and binged all of Dotaology. Gotta say you do a really good job of concisely putting an entire character's background into a ten-minute video and have it be entertaining!

I remember playing with my friend in dota 1 who played Techies and man it was hell of a long game!
There was also an instance where land mines could only be triggered by land units. Rendering heroes like twd, od, and visage immune to land mines

Funny enough I had a story of that exact situation when I played Dota2.
5:00 If detonate has 0 sec cd, you can detonate two times before the remote mines expire, hence dealing double damage per remote mine

IIRC Techies made a brief appearances in HoN but it was removed quickly along with other new hero, Aldair which also removed

I will never get over the fact that Remote Mines has a trollface on the spell icon.
One big change was also the fact that you could stack Land Mines on top one another before. What you would do was to lay down like 4-5 land mines on top of one another and you had a 100% kill if anyone walked over them in the early game. Which was inevitable if you placed your stack at the right place.

I know its a bit of a strect since most of his skills are different than techies but 1.
But the Engineer fro Heroes of Newerth(HoN) able to put mines too, called spider mines, i believe? These mines can chase down enemies when they're nearby the last time I played

I had considered mentioning those two, but it would have been pretty brief. The reason why I thought Teemo deserved some screen time was because of the absolute RAGE people felt about the two
just like abathur, he is as annoying to his team as those two, especially because he is also a suport, and many players forget this and only shield the creeps to push lanes

Hi Dennis, I've really been enjoying your "history of" videos. I know dota all stars has always been seen by a majority of players as the parent of dota 2 but, what about the original defense of the ancients game (from ROC WC3?) I personally was a huge fan and I think it adds even more fun stuff to talk about potentially in these videos. Such as, juggernaut was originally a strength hero! (Stat stacking early made healing ward absurd haha.)

u also forgot to mention back in the day techies land mines could stack on each other. i don't recall what patch it was that changed it to have a range between each individual land mine, but they also increased the damage of each land mine significantly in the same patch

I used to play Techies as a kid back in DotA1, nostalgia hits close to home, my mates would hate me for using Techies.
That collection of Dee Bradley Baker characters is magical
HoN had a hero called Engineer, who had spider mines as one of his skills. They could be stacked and would activate if someone came close to them, and run towards a player and explode. They could also be used to block neutral camps, so naturally I would mine the enemy camps at the start of the game and see their jungler leave the jungle and go lane :). When I was playing HoN, he was my go to hero to replace Techies in Dota 1. Also, that courier Nilbog, his name spells out Goblin if read backwards. As for other mobas, Heroes of the Storm has Abathur who can lay down mines (but his shtick is very unique), Tyriel could explode after death and Chromie/Junkrat has stun traps.

When suicide was thing tech was my main. Fun starts when you get haste rune. That dmg was enough to kill mid heroes.

Also, totally forgot. Since Goblin Techies began as the Goblin Sapper unit. "What's happenin'?" is meant to sound more like "What's sappenin'?" for the worst of puns.
ALSO also, "Ziggs" from League of Legends is something of the Techie's port lite, as he's an excitable explosives expert who can empower his auto-attacks and throw out bombs with a number of effects.

By far my most picked hero ^_^ I still miss pre patch 7 days when i could get the first blood rven before enemy carry takes 1 creep. But this techies is still so Good if you know what you are doing.
