But seeing your recipies r very incouraging. i do eat many recipies with garbonza beans, kidney beans and lentils, and more. Finally realized i wont starve . Love tofu scramble…… want to let you know a way kewl ingredient to take a scramble to the next level ….. kala namak … aka black salt. It is a product from India. It has a sulfur like taste and smell, so it adds a truer “egg” like flavor profile. So anytime you want that eggy taste kala namak is your best friend. Try it ….. love it.
This is interesting. I have made a lot of tofu scramble including the recipe from Rouxbe professional culinary school. They use firm tofu. I would think this is dry 🤷♀️ that’s a lot of nutritional yeast. Sure to be seasoned.
I was intrigued with the flavor combination, using curry and nutritional yeast, for example. I headed to the kitchen and found I had one tiny hot pepper. I crumbled the squeezed tofu in the pan, added the yeast, turmeric, curry and black pepper. Meantime, I minced up a tiny bit of onion and a handful of spinach, which I sliced thin. At the end I put in all the vegs and stirred around. Served with a bit of black salt and WOW! Thank you so much for this inspiration!!
There are many versions of scrambled tofu and it depends on taste.just like she said it absorbs what ever flavour you add. You could add some silken to it to give it more smoothness and some stock or water to give it a bit of moisture again. I think this one is would be dry but that may be a preference. With tofu you can do anything to make it to your taste.

@@daveinca2 Maybe because the woman went to the dentist more often and can spend more time chewing while the men need more nutrient dense foods at the older age so they can spend less time chewing plant foods and not wear out their tmj?
This came up in my feed at the right moment. I have some leftover rice, onion, garlic and peppers. The curry powder will make a delicious addition. Tofu scramble for dinner tonight.
I like to cook this on a sheet tray @400F for 15-20 minutes. You can add other veggies that will roast with it. I saw this on another YT channel and really like it.
I’m so glad I saw this! The last time I was in Austin I actually ate at the Bouldin Creek Café and had the scramble and really enjoyed it, so I’m definitely making this. 😄 I love your videos!💚
I think putting the poblano & jalapeño in pan first & sautéed with some finely chopped onion & extra virgin olive oil & then add the tofu & seasonings & maybe add some chopped up fresh spinach ... I’ve been a vegetarian for 40 years now (turn 80 y/o in a month) & that scrambled tofu didn’t look too appetizing ... too dry.
It looks dried out. I might be inclined to use 1/2T of tahini thinned out with water, mix it with the spices and less nutritional yeast and mix it together beforehand and then add it to the tofu that I brown in the pan. Then it would be more creamy like scrambled egg would be.
I’m obsessed with the super firm high protein tofu! There is no need to waste time to drain it. Such a revelation! Trader Joe’s sells it a a amazing price.
I want to thank you for all you have done to make WFPB cooking fun, accessible, and delicious. I normally enjoy your videos and your recipes, but in my opinion this one missed the mark. Instead of your usual playful banter, the tone of this video seemed stressed or even strident. The recipe itself appeared so dry as if you were sautéing a lot of extra nutritional yeast that was sticking to the pan instead of the tofu. I would not want to be the one trying to clean that pan with all its stuck on bits. One cup of nutritional yeast seems like a lot for the amount of tofu used. Perhaps less nutritional yeast could have been used or the tofu could have been coated first with the nutritional yeast and spices so any excess could have been “shaken off” if that was the effect you were going for? Thanks again for all you have done to educate and keep us deliciously fed with WFPB food. Although this was not a memorable episode or recipe, I look forward to future episodes
Sorry, this looks dry and the process is stressful. Love you, but this particular video should have been less stress and more evaluation towards a good end. Needs a bit of veggie broth as scrambled eggs wouldn’t be so dry. Just a hopeful, helpful hint as this video seems disorganized.
This didn’t look that great. I usually season the tofu a the bowl with a little fluid like a little veggie broth and tamari. Then sautée my veggies and add the tofu in and cook several minutes.

Black mineral salt tastes of egg because of its sulfur essence. It might be a good substitute for the tamari for a more egg-like experience

I would have added some plant milk to moisten it and deglaze the pan. I use half firm tofu and half silken and the texture is creamy.
To make it even better, search out Kala Namak, Himalayan black salt (it's not black). It will give the tofu that sulphurous smell and taste of eggs.
Better without. Some dont care for a smelly, egg odor.
