Faith in humanity that we can overcome our own flaws on our own without the mandate of a heavenly power, or the threat of external damnation from that power, is liberating. But now the hard work begins. Without the mandate of God you must now find you're own purpose and meaning. To do good because it is good and right because it is such. And if not you who? And more importantly when? Welcome back brother.

John and Jane’s entire basis for their argument is: “I don’t understand how this works, therefore science is wrong and you shouldn’t bother doing the research yourself because god.”

    • @kevinbailey8827

There are zero fossils that qualify as transitional fossils when properly investigated & evaluated. There are, however, numerous examples of proven forgeries and fakes along with verifiable convictions of fraud for them over the last 160+ years. Where are these millions and millions of transitional fossils that would exist if Evolution is true? Darwin himself wrote about how he didn't know of any back then, but expected them to be found. He specifically wrote that if they aren't found, that would be a problem for his theory. Well, they haven't been. Yet people still believe Evolution? It's a religion.

Someone who's trying to teach you may not know what you do and don't understand. What it's done for me personally is bridge the gap of understanding towards religious apologetics. Oftentimes, these arguments feel like Skrulls trying to pass off as human. What enough of them, however, and patterns start to emerge - fundamental gaps in the cognition of apologists. This video demonstrates the "randomness fallacy" - the binary fallacy which asserts that a thing must either be intelligently created or occur entirely randomly, with no option in-between. The failure to acknowledge the concept of "emergence" - of things emerging out of uncontrolled interactions between fundamental laws - is pervasive and explains a lot.

I was a Biology TA several years ago and I taught in a room full of vertebrate skeletons. Just by looking at the various skeletons from birds to turtles to rats to horse legs the homology was incredibly striking. Why are there always the same number of vertebrae? Why are the different limbs made of the same same or similar arrangements of bones? Why is the end of a horse's leg made of three obviously fused bones instead of a single bone? And so on and so on.

      @@walnutoil100 here's the difference:
Science has shown that abiogenesis (which is not evolution) is likely, and life is here now so we can easily reason that it happened at least once. If we don't yet know exactly how, that's not a barrier to the FACT that chemistry favors organic molecules.
On the other hand you have religion, which in lieu of using actual facts will encounter something unknown, and instead of trying to understand it, will simply declare "god did it". That isn't an answer. It's a cop-out. Lazy thinking. It's what frightened primitives do to explain the scary world around them in a desperate attempt to assert some sort of control.
Here it's 2022. It's the age of flight, space flight, computers, and all sorts of technology and knowledge that 20 years ago was science fiction.
And yet religious people would rather think as though they were frightened primitives huddling in a cave pretending spirits control the lightning because the very notion of lightning being uncontrolled makes them crap themselves.

@@walnutoil100 I do somewhat understand this viewpoint. Consciousness, as I see it, is basically modern science's #1 most confusing unanswered question. Many theories are thrown around about how consciousness exists, but in the end, I'm sure most people would admit they simply don't know... including me.
However, Creationists have just as little of an answer to that as anybody else does. Their solution is that God created consciousness... but that isn't a solution at all, given they'd first have to answer how God got there in the first place in order for it to be a valid proof.
I personally doubt anybody alive on the Earth right now is aware of how existence came to be in the first place. Logically, nothing should exist... not even empty space, or any concept of nothingness or anything at all. Yet things very clearly do exist, that cannot be denied as you are experiencing it right now (I assume... I at least know that I am). It's quite a thrilling question... one that Creationists don't have an answer to, nor do Evolutionists, nor do anybody else. It being unanswered cannot possibly be used as a valid disproof of anything in any way until somebody else gets it figured out, and I honestly doubt that'll happen any time soon.

"Flying" fish are possibly leading to a 6th form of flight. They have an extended ventral tail fin that allows them to power themselves out of the water not unlike a hydrofoil on a sailboat. Their pectoral fins then act as wings to allow them to glide over the water's surface. I don't know if they have any musculature to flap their fins, so they're stuck with gliding over the surface at the mercy of any air currents to get higher for now.

      @goldenknight578 2 года назад

I used to see them all the time when I was in the Navy. The ones I saw would just glide a short distance, usually between swells. I never saw anything in the way of flapping.

i like how they show cheetahs as a example of an animal that was tailered to fit it's system
despite..you know, reality showing that cheetahs are..not fitted for their "system"
because you know..they're going extinct, due to their adaptions for running fast
well..that's some of the reasons anyway

Yep, the species is stuck in a bottleneck and cannot get a genepool wide enough to adapt to changing life. Lions, leopards, and other species are literally pushing them to extinction. Their prey meanwhile has a wide enough genepool that their adapt faster to counter them, with them fearing lions and hyenas a lot more than cheetahs. Add humans putting pressure on their species.

I like how they basically go off into Last Thursdayism.
Homologous structures can be explained by a common designer.
But analogous structures? Oh, that's a common designer, too. See, the same designer used a different approach for the same function.
The question isn't why do eyes show up in both squid and humans. The bigger question is why are they different?
It's been noted that simplicity is the hallmark of design. Designers use interchangeable parts when they can. Making parts different for no reason is an example of bad design, not intelligence.
"God can do anything he wants" is a content-free statement. There is nothing that can contradict it. Even if they agree with descent with modifcation, they can just say, "God made it look that way"
    It's dumb.
