At the age of 70, not sure I am able to take this up. But what a boost to see you. All my life, no matter where I go, I must get into the waters even if it's only my feet. I'm enlivened by watching you. As I watched you, I realized that we are more than human. There is something universal and primal about this.

    Beautiful, thank you for sharing.
I have been outdoor swimming for nearly 2 years and couldn't imagine my life without it now. I live in Scotland and fortunate to have the options of some many lochs and rivers locally. The most incredible way to experience wildlife - very soon the ospreys will be back and I will watch them fishing in the water as I swim.
I agree about not worrying what kit you have either. People get obsessed about having a DryRobe and wetsuit etc, that is definitely something you can work up to. Personally I'm a skins kinda lass.

What a beautiful film!! I'm 57 years old and today is the first day I've ever heard of wild swimming. Thankfully after viewing your film, I'm now duly inspired to take up this simple, yet seemingly profound activity. I'm quite fortunate to live right across the road from one of the only "wild" rivers left in (way) Northern California in the U.S. and also only 20 miles inland from the ocean, so there's definitely water to explore. I do swim quite a bit in the river during the summer months, but it has never occured to me to get in during the other seasons. Thank you so much for mentioning the mental health benefits of this practice, as a psychotherapist, I'm always encouraging people to trust the healing power of nature, and now I will encourage wild swimming as well.

@@iheartjbgccb , i have to drive to the river. It has rapids at the end so the river does not freeze up in certain places. I live in a city, nobody does WIM HOFF method but me and a friend. Its a secret. Look for those spots without ice and go there. A beach is even better since there is sand. There is no beach where I live but a river that surrounds the city. The water is freezing cold but that is the whole point. Just need A few dips under water and I Am done. The feeling of aliveness is amazing. I went yesterday. Summer is coming so it is feeling better when I come outside, My haïr no longer freezes. Become fearless my friend! But I recommend going with a friend and check with Dr. If you do Wim Hoff. It can be dangerous especially if you put your head in freezing cold water like I do....can cause heart attack. You must love yourself when you do this, not hurt yourself. For me it is about empowering the clarity of awareness. Being still, and the river does this for me.....helps me to be present just enjoy what is. The nature, the sounds of the river, the birds singing especially in the morning before everybody awakens, a beautiful meditation 😇🏄‍♀️🇨🇦❤️🌈🌎

@@iheartjbgccb Its my first complete winter. But I started from last summer and worked my way though fall and could not believe that on Christmas Day I was taking a dip. My friend and I gradually did it....not at once. By chance if someone saw us they thought we were crazy in -8 degrees with ice in the river floating around. You gotta love water. The feeling afterwards is euphoric, like taking a joint but healthier. So much silence and peace. I can meditate for hours and get a good night sleep too. Takes away my chronic back pain due to a tumor extraction on my spine and the river...nature takes away all anxiety. I always want to jump in any river....In the summer I love to swim in rivers for longer periods. In winter I just dip in for a bit and put my head in just once or twice. The only downside is the addiction. This feeling of aliveness is addictive. Just take it slow and enjoy. If it makes you feel bad or sick after, don’t do it, just make sure you have a friend and ask Dr. If it’s ok. Like surfers who look for waves....you will look for wild river swimming, One day, you will feel as if the river and you are one. Just a beautiful experience. Take care my friend with this experiment...and if you ever do it, with precautions off course....let me know how it goes! Blessings 🏄‍♀️

Lovely little film, thanks. I'm a competitive (ish) masters swimmer, both pool and open water, and here in Hong Kong while the pools have been closed a group of 5-6 similar ability swimmers have been open water swimming 3-4 times a week, often pushing and racing each other, but also just enjoying the different conditions and doing different types of swims. One day it will be pancake flat, another day very choppy and challenging, but always a wonderful way to start the day.

Brilliant, more people need this message.I started to wild swim in the sea last Nov I told myself I'd do it a few times a week. But the healing I have gained has been amazing 👏. Now I'm on day 24 of swimming each day. I'm a member of Folkestone Swimming and we are soon to set up a more local swimming group in Sandgate where I live. I'm inspired to go to different places to swim and let others know the benefits of wild swimming.

I'd love to find some like minded people, my husband isn't keen - although he has generously been coming in with me a few times, or to sit on the beach and spot me.

I learned about cold water swimming at a triathlon in Lake Superior years ago. It was 16C, and the swim was only 300 meters. So dude shamed me out of using a wetsuit. So, i didn't use it. When i got on my bike i found that i felt totally amazing. I was high. That was 2019, and I've been hooked since. I train for IM in a lake during the summer months, by starting at 0500. I watch the sunrise from water level. People just don't know what they are missing

I swim with my friends all the time in the river Crouch & river Chelmer here in Essex and it is a wonderful experience to share with them out in open water. Nothing beats being detached from all the constraints of life and just enjoying being in water. Swimming is the best meditation in my mind.

Thank you for such a well presented and produced video. It's a powerful message, and one reflected in one of my favourite books - "Waterlog" by Roger Deakin, which chronicles his wild swimming all over the UK. Here in Sydney, my family enjoys occasional wild swimming along with the land-based version - barefoot trail walking. We really must make better use of the gorgeous, almost endless supply of swimmable wild waters we have here. Much gratitude and you now have a sub in Aussie-land! Cheers - Dave
