Cancer can cost you about a million dollars. By the time you have surgery; bone marrow biopsy; IV port surgically implanted under your clavicle; get your chemo IV infusion; a gazillion blood tests; oral meds, PET scans; MRIs etc; oncology consult/visits. Six years ago in NJ 6 infusions alone and nothing else was $500k.
Well, maybe that’s a good thing when it comes to cancers that have smaller chances for any durable response. Then they (hospitals, doctors, insurance, etc.) would just opt out of treating those patients (for profit’s sake) when a smaller percent of those patients actually had a chance to do well.
I was of the understanding that the drug has to be on the formulary to qualify for the $2000 cap? Also, our meds are included in the maximum out of pocket cap?
What if my cancer drug is not on my Plan D drug list and I have to pay full price for the cancer medication. Would the $2000 cap apply? Would the drug payment plan apply?

It really is how it is administered. Alot more than just these chemotherapy meds.
Thank you for explaining this. I've never heard of the Pharmacy prescription payment plan.

The sad part is, these drug companies and hospitals get paid regardless of the outcome. It's the perfect business

I love my life, but I would rather die than bankrupt my family. Just my opinion.
