I wear John Lobb. They are so worth looking after by craftsmen like this excellent gentleman. I wear daily shoes that were made for me 30 years ago. When my father died some of his were 40 years old. Good shoes are worth the money.
This guy is an artist. I find it super relaxing in an almost ASMR-way to watch his videos too. Makes me want to buy better quality shoes. Stunning work
mark janssens someone once told me. “I am too poor to buy cheap shoes”. So true. Only buy quality, even if you can only have one pair of shoes
Just snag some AEs on eBay and have steve fix them up like new
You’re right. This guy is an artist, and he’s funny as hell. It’s also a plus that he doesn’t have a ridiculous hillbilly accent.
Quality shoes and boots are a must. A lot of people don't understand lol
yesssss!!!! i so agree with you Mike Janssens!!!!
Nobody ever says “it’s stitchin 🧵 time”. I like the sound of that machine.
My father showed me how to spit-shine his jump boots when I was younger, but once I got the knack of it. It took me about 15 minutes per boot. When I joined the military I was the only one who knew how to do it, hence I was noticed by my drill Sargent and subsequently had to show everyone else how to do it. The only thing I hated was how easily they would scuff, that's when I learned that women's pantyhose rubbed on the scuff, would bring back that mirror finish in ten seconds or less. So one guy was elected to go buy a pair and we cut them up into 2x2 inch sections so everyone could maintain the shine. I love your videos, keep hammering.
Richard S marine here. You can do it even faster if you hit it with a heat gun. It knocks it from 15 mins per boot down to about 3-5.
@@illinimarine7 a lighter did come in handy
My husband ( a para -signals staff sergeant ) had boots spit polished to a mirror shine as did most soldiers but they were kept for parades/ kit inspections. They were kept high on a shelf covered with a yellow duster cloth !!!!
Steve your videos are so healing to watch and relaxing I often wonder what has happened to my father's shoes after he passed away I took several down to the Goodwill and I often wonder what happened to them... He had some John Lobb's some Florsheim's and some Johnston & Murphy shoes that were all made to order because his shoe size was 11-1/2 AA!! He had a heck of a time finding a repairman with your skills. I think he had a guy in New York he had to ship them to. Now, I understand why he was so painstaking about his shoe care every Sunday evening and I loved to sit there and watch him shine his shoes as he watched 60 minutes! I thought that he looked silly in the winter in his rubbers, but when you are spending that kind of money, you do what you can to protect your investment. At one time I called him Imelda, because he had more shoes than any man I knew.
Wow....nice! True craftsmanship is about charging a fair price for a job well done. You, Sir, gave this customer his money's worth on these fine shoes.
Walking on a pavement wearing these would cause me mental anguish. In an alternate universe these would be my mansion slippers.
The customer will now be able to put his feet up on his desk and still look like a super employee with the company logo and colors on his soles!
Those are the baddest soles I've ever seen. Notice how he didn't show us how he colored them... secret.
He’s probably the owner!
The Elves and the Shoemaker! I loved listening to my grandfather telling me Grimm's fairy tales when I was a kid!
Not leaving the heal nails in there is called doing the right thing. This guy is not only an artist, but works from the gut, where ethics and being a good person come from. Conscience makes Steve's work worth watching, where you know you gonna get what you paid for.
I can sum it up easily..."GOOD WORK COSTS GOOD MONEY", there's just no way around it.
Honestly, these are a work of art. I wouldn't even wanna wear em. They'd be a display piece. Great craftsmanship.
The most scary part is when you cut opening for a blindstich, I hold my breath in that time! By the way, great work, they look epic!
You have stated very clearly the difference between an artist which includes creativity and skill, verses a craftsman with skill.
People doesn't have to make your count... you do a good job and it has to be payed... if you have 1000 dollar shoes, paying 500 dollar to do a repair isn't much. It's cheaper than buying new ones... and it's better for the environment.
Me I dont pay much for good shoe repair because I let it do in Morocco. When I am going over there. So if you know that people get 250 to 350 a month as salary, then you understand that making your shoes cost less... but I pay always double... so they love to see me arrive with my shoes. Lol...
No you do a splendid job so it has to be paid... I admire you... you put your soul into your work, so it's that bit more than an average cobbler. And it's worth the money.
Here in Belgium I have never had a good cobbler... one day they ruined my shoes... so no thanks... morocco here I come...
There's magic in those hands and it shows every time Steve picks up a piece to work on. Thank you for sharing your craft with us, Best wishes to you and your family
Mr Bedo is very generous for teaching me so much. I admire his craft.
I just recently found your RUclips channel and have been enjoying it. I own a leather shop in eastern Washington state. About half our business is boot and shoe repair, and our customers tend to be ranchers, loggers, and country folk. When we resole something it's usually a pair of well-worn cowboy boots or logging boots. I've never seen a pair of Gucci's or John Lobbs. So, it's been quite interesting, and educational, to watch your videos. I especially like your comments about pricing your work. That is a part of the business I always struggle with. We're doing work that very few people know how to do, but have to price it in such a way that our local customers can feel good about the service they are getting. It's a balancing act that we struggle with almost daily. Thanks for these videos.
You know what I like so much about Stephan's videos? How much Stephan likes Stephan... They're fun.
The ones who are talking smack about what you charge or the location or anything for that matter... are the ones who hold no value in good, honest, hard work or excellent craftsmanship. Let them keep talking s**t & you keep doing what your doing. We love & appreciate you☺️
34 minutes watching a guy repairing a pair of shoes....and It's riveting, this is what qualityu craftmanship looks like, I bet his waiting list runs to the years :)
HI, STEPHAN VATCHE BEDO! I really do enjoy watching you work, Steve. YOU are the one and only, for real. Your exacting standards , from removing the old nails and picking the stitches, to the colors and designs on the soles which most people don't pay attention to, you've just got it like that. 👞🎩👑
By the way, I get my legs in about 3 weeks!!!! WOOOOHOOOOO!!!! 💃
Holy cow. Amazing! I recently got into leatherwork. Your videos have taught me alot. Thanks for doing these!
This guy is the truth. Workmanship is unmatched! I salute you sir. I have a couple of project I will be contacting you about in the near future.
Wow Steve, that's a modern day masterpiece...😍👍
True craftsmanship at it's finest
Both my sons have size 14 (uk) feet. They had to have their shoes made when they were younger. Those shoes lasted YEARS. In fact my youngest son wore his last pair for his wedding 5 years ago. We had them made when he was 11. He is now 28 & they wore out just after he got married. Thry lasted 13 years so were worth the £300 we paid for them.
👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻❤️wow that’s a great project, thx for the vlog and your time Steve ❤️see you next time 👍🏻
As always, you are a true Master of your Craft. Superior work and it shows on the finish product. I would pay $500 for you to resole a good pair of shoes. Thank you for your video. Godspeed
This might be my favorite sole replacement job yet and I’ve watched them all. Those are really nice looking shoes. Thanks Steve.
A man whom knows his craft! Outstanding work ! You see how much you love what you do.
Steve- first and foremost you ARE a Great human being, You constantly do the right thing for the customer and sometimes don't charge for your expertise! Second, you have reached out to those in your industry to offer your expertise to make them better and raise the industry standard which you obviously love and care about! Rare qualities in the world we live in now! Third, with your expertise and eye for detail YOU GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR! Repair by BEDO's are better than the original! You treat your customers like family! IT"s HAMMER TIME and shots of OUZO!
“To each his own”....lol...have a gr8 day sir...I admire and praise you for staying with a age old profession. A profession that’s dying. U are a specialty man!
Fantastic work as usual Vatche,.. And Love the Picture of the Naked Elves making Shoes...👍👍. Your a true Artisan..
The shop is a gem in a mess of urban sprawl. Keep up the great work, and thanks for bringing us along.
Steve the genius. Those are really stunning shoes. Your workmanship is out of this world.
Everytime I see Steve pulling that knife towards him my heart misses a beat
He can step into heaven proudly wearing these shoes. Keep stepping out in glory, Steve.
You sir are definitely a master at your craft .. looks great. Thanks for sharing.
The clipped corner on the heel is a fantastic little detail.
Michael Silva I love it! ❤️
The Gentleman's notch keeps your heel from snagging your trousers, especially when climbing the stairs.
Splendid job, of course. You do your best work when you are asked to be artistic. These custom jobs are expensive but you give the customer (and your viewers) what they want and more.
This is exactly why you have my Bates boots and I can’t wait to see how amazing they come out! Thanks Steve!!!!
As usual - superb!!👍👌unbelievable finish 😍🥰 keep the videos coming - absolutely love them!!!
Yeah, I am a confirmed Bedoist now. I joined the club.
Welcome! Espresso and donuts in the back. Let's continue.
The bedoism is spreading.
@@rolandkronqvist1034 i've also reformed this week. Hail bedoism
Oh my....a true work of art....amazing creative work Steve. Nice to see some of the shop....
OMG...that is one fine shoe...fantastic. Could be your best! WOW factor is there!
Absolutely beautiful. Steve, you are a true artist and a craftsman!!
A masterpiece as usual. That why people paying your good money. U deserve every coin of it.
the story of the elves and the cobbler is one of my favorite stories. My Grandma was kind of sick so I washed the dishes and told her the elves did them.
Art!!! Shoes look fantastic! Blue sole makes them really pop!!
The leather looks like a high quality calfskin. Thanks for the tour of shop. Can’t wait to see the finished job! Craftmen are hard to find. To each, his own...lol! Seriously, waiting for some hammer time!
Some of your best work that you have shown. Incredible Steve!
I think you nailed it!!!! Great job on a lovely pair of shoes.
Awesome job Steve, clean bench and it looks like you cleaned your glue container and brush.
Thank you for giving us viewers a glimpse into the front of the shop. I’ve become addicted to watching your videos!
Stunning! Fantastic work Steve.
I love love love the passion you put into your craft!
The most satisfying part of your videos is the sound the blade makes when you separate the sole from the welt
WOW! TY 4 the before & after pics. SPECTACULAR TRANSFORMATION!!!
Thank you for showing your shop! I love your work as an artisan and your passion is exceptional.
Fantastic work again . I find your vids. riveting . !
Love the comedic touch , you're a natural .
Beautiful shoes, piece of excellence, totally AWESOME, piece of art.
Yet again, stunning work. All in the finish!
Thanks for the tour!! Looks great. Have a messy work bench means you are doing a good job. You should see my work bench ...crazy mess. Oh well..keep up the good work.
These videos reaffirm the decisions I have been making on shoes for the last fifty. One was the better the shoe the longer it will last.sounds obvious but so many skimp on shoeware that have so many advantages.
Superb craftsmanship as usual Steve.
Steve: “I have tidied my work counter”
Also Steve - Throws all the junk on the floor ;)
Wesley Manning hahaha true then I clean it up
I like the custom logo idea.
its when people put time into the details that their work stands out and makes them special , the eye is in the detail .
Steve or shoud I say Vaché, there is a ton of armenians watching your videos and you make us very proud! Your skills are incredible and the dedication is very strong as well. I have been following your videos since nearly the beginning and I think this channel will become very big, artisanship is the new way now, specially in these times. Abris kezi yev hachoghootyoon, Raffi from FRANCE.
Beautiful shoes, Steve. Congratulations on a job well done.
I’m not sure why I find this work fascinating. Most impressive results. It’s so nice to see this work still being done in a throw away society. I always had the French Tip on my Oxfords. Thanks for posting!
I just can't do reality anymore, so I escape to Steve and his art and banter. Very informative.
Ooooh love the sapphire blue really special effect bet he loved those
Stunning. Absolutely perfect. The factory would be proud.
WOW! Yet Another Steve talent! The little cobbler elves are very well done.
This a pleasure to watch. Lovely products.
Fantastic job Steve, a custom heel and sole something to aspire to!
When Steve puts his clothes away it's "Hanger Time".
Hilarious!!!
When Steve goes home after work, it's "Dinner time"!
Beautiful work. My favorite thing was seeing your work as a kid!
Did I ever imagine that a shoe repair/restomod would impress me? WOW, this one did! That's beautiful. Wish I could afford something like that!
It’s, “to each his own.” Awesome video as always!!!
I enjoyed the close up camera work! Very facinating. Thank you, Steve.
What a great job steve!
Just when you think it can't get any better..... it does ! Love to own a lovely pair of shoes like those with fantastic workmanship ON THE BOTTOM ! ! ! .....
Nice to see a master artisan at work!
Can almost smell that leather and I wished I had gone into a profession like this when I was younger. I agree with Steve too you get what you pay for. Interesting to note the differences between the different RUclips shoe repair sites too it's all in the detail like Steve says.
Most beautiful shoes you have done. They are perfect. Stunning work!! Bravo! Francine from Montreal Canada.
Another great job Steve, agree with your assessment, and worth the money. I would send my Carmina shoes to you when I need them repaired
This is an amazing shoe!!!! Amazing job!!!
Price. Quality. Speed. Pick any two.
I don't own a pair of dress shoes, but those would be at the top of my list. Simple classic elegance. Superb work as we have come to expect and imo, a great value.
Watching you shine those shoes made me think of my days in the Corps, when it was all about that glass.
As always, nice work!
I have a pair of what I think are Tom McCann's, I forget, that are over 25 years old. Still my most comfortable shoes. They look fine. I don't have a reason to wear them often though I used to wear them for work. I have had only the heal replaced ever. They look just those shoes.
Great looking shop...I really like those countertops..the shoes are "killer"...
Really nice work, Sir. I really enjoy the fancy jobs like this. I'd imagine jobs like this one are relaxing.
Wicked job. Wonderful fellow. Thanks Stephan.
I enjoy watching your videos. You give great insight into your technique. I agree with the paying attention to detail, I believe a person's work is a reflection of who they are. Amazing work. 👍👍👍👍
Really enjoy watching your work...very relaxing. I think it adds to the experience as you talk us through what your doing and just not having music. Keep up the great work!
Absolutely amazing! You do phenomenal work sir. I have 2 pair to send you. One is a boot and the other a shoe and I really can’t wait.
Beautiful work. It's like a form of art.
Watching your videos makes me relax. ❤️❤️
Couldn't help it. Had to subscribe. Hammer time! Skilled and funny.
