No, 1941 is not one of Spielberg’s worst movies, it’s an under appreciated great movie! I watch it at least once a year & it never ceases to make me laugh.
I disagree. 1941 is not Spielberg's worst movie. It wasn't perfect but it's really good. His worst movie was that god awful "reimagining" of War Of The Worlds. Took the Tripods but took a shit on the rest of the story. If the aliens were here for a million years they could have studied the planet and built an immunity up. It was terrible.
Ang Lee's "Hulk" suffered only because he was forced to produce a trailer in time to air during that year's Super Bowl even though he hadn't gotten around to most of the CGI work. People saw that abomination (pun slightly intended) of a trailer and formed their opinions of the movie some 5 months before the film even opened. (It's worth noting that the other "Hulk" film--with Edward Norton--did no better at the box office but, for some odd reason, no one trashes it as much as they do Lee's film.)
I remember a Spielberg interview where he mentions how erratic the filming of 1941 since he partied with the party monster himself John Belushi, lot of it was improvised on set!
Eric Bana's performance was not "off" that's legitimately how people with anger management issues are. The grabbing his own hands, the deep grumble, not remembering what you did. It was perfect
"Hulk" gets a bad rap when really it's so much better than "The Incredible Hulk" and everything Hulk related thereafter. It was just ahead of it's time and didn't baby the viewer. Also if you own the DVD/Blu Ray then you have the incredible opportunity to watch a small round Asian man in a skin tight body suit with ping pong balls glued to it give his best Hulk impression, and it's somehow much better than it sounds.
Noah is not based off of the Bible fable, it's based off of a graphic novel that takes the story of Noah and added all those fantasy elements, which is also called Noah
4:50 - Actually I thought the predecessor "Diary of the Dead" was even less impressive . But what's really sad about "Diary" and "Survival" was that they were Romero's swansongs!
What's wrong with "Men in Tights"? Granted it's not high art but it's the same type of funny movie that Mel Brooks makes like Spaceballs or Blazing Saddles.
@@reijek990 I just didn't find it funny. The odd bit, like the sword shadow... 'Unlike other Robin Hoods of the Past, I speak with an English accent.' Mostly, it was infantile. Or maybe I just expected more from Mel Brooks. Like Life Stinks... it was ... okay. Just from Mel Brooks you expect more.
Why did you switch from the proper "COP-pola" pronunciation to the odd "Co-POH-la" version in talking about "Twixt?" Were you concerned that FFC might sue you for reminding people of the film so you thought changing the stress would throw off FFC's legal team?
Honestly Sharkboy and Lavagirl could've been made better but it was still an enjoyable kids movie from my childhood. Even if it's green screen is way more obvious and most of the story makes no sense lol
The Rebooted Witches movie was more accurate......except for the witch hunter twist at the end. It was as good as the 1990 version but me and my daughter did enjoy it.
In a What If Universe I'd Be Born 45 years Earlier and have over 50 movies as a Director the Worst would be Postal, Balls Out, Blood The Last Vampire and worst of all Radical Jack a deep cut I know
I agree completely regarding Twixt. I went in wanting to like it, mostly because of the cast, but it was awful. I feel that cast did the best they could with the terrible script they were given.
Look at all the sudden 1941 apologists. The only movies you could make a case being worse is Always and the BFG, maybe Crystal Skull and Ready Player One, other than that I don't get what do you see in that trash. Even the man himself admitted he fucked up and foced himself to lock in for the next one (raiders) to prove he wasn't a fraud.
All of Darren Aranofsky’s work is, for want of a better word, dumb. Overblown to the point of hysteria. I always suspect he’s secretly aiming for pitch black comedy, in which case, chapeau.
Coppola's "Megalopolis" has been getting less than favorable reviews too.
The list might have been made before that movie came out.
@@1971chrismiller That's fine. I was just mentioning it bc it's pertinent to the topic.
came for this comment, did not leave disappointed.
Poor Jennifer Connelly was in 3 of these.
"I hate that! I hate it!"
…and HOW many of these had Jennifer Connely in it?
If her cleavage, bottom or even eyes are in a movie, I tend to get distracted and give it a pass!🤪😹😍

Yes! Its dumb and silly and I love it!
I agree. It's my favourite Christmas movie.
It's not even in his bottom 5.
Didn’t he make Howard the Duck?
@@dearthditchI think that was George Lucas.
Note to your editor-
Coen, not Cohen.
IDK, I loved "The lady killers." But it really isnt meant for everyone and I also didn't see the original, so that helps me out to a degree.
I loved it, too! "You brought your b***h to the Waffle Hut."
loved it to :D tom hanks as a badguy
Agreed! It's just as quotable as The Big Lebowski or Fargo. "He brought his b---- to the Waffle Hut!"
Hey! HEY!!! Hot Tub Time Machine was AWESOME. Step off, Elli!!! Lmao
Agree! It was a surprising treat!
Agreed - it knows exactly what kind of movie it is and leans into that immaculately
I even like hot tub time machine 2 lol. Both r solid comedies.
@rustyshackleford2792 I didn't know they made a sequel. Hmm
Even the best Directors have bad days at the office.
Everyone has to have a bad or at least worst movie, right?! Not every movie Just Garland made was WIZARD OF OZ or MEET ME IN ST LOUIS, right?!🤔
3:28 - love you Ellie but no, there shall not be any Tim Burton's Charlie and the Chocolate Factory slander in this house!
Yes there shall.
@@AlexReynard How about... no!
The movie is ok, but it's let down by the fact that one of the central elements of the film (Johnny Depp's performance) is bad
@rorylynch7775 Nah I'm sorry, Johnny Depp was excellent as Willy Wonka, a very different take than Gene Wilder's portrayal but I like that!
The point was the character study.
It takes a selfish man to survive an initial catastrophe, but he must become selfless to survive in the long term.

Cus Lee's sucked and the Norton one had alot of potential

It's COPP-o-la or COPE-a-la, not ca-PO-la.
I really liked Hulk, Eric Bana was a good Bruce Banner.
Eric Bana's performance was not "off" that's legitimately how people with anger management issues are. The grabbing his own hands, the deep grumble, not remembering what you did. It was perfect
Just for the record, Shark Boy and Lava Girl did end up getting a straight to Netflix sequel called we can be heroes back in 2020.
Noah didn't follow the source.
There's not so much to follow.
I love The Lost World: Jurassic Park. Okay, not going to lie it could be due to nostalgia but I don't care I still love it.
Million times better than any Jurassic World movie.
@@ExtremeMadnessXwell, you clearly missed the first one
@@patrickdoyle6201 It's bad.
I thought it was merely okay, but the trailer truck on the cliff scene was a hands-down *_great_* scene.
@AlexReynard It was also only one of the few scenes that were adapted from the book.
Joel Schumacher- Batman & Robin
M. Night Shymalon- The Last Airbender
Wes Craven- Deadly Friend
Kevin Costner- The Postman
Eli Roth- Borderlands
Um. This list was worst movies by the best directors. I don't think Shyamalan counts.

I must protest! Noah, the Witches and Hulk all have merit to them and deserve to be seen.
Did you forget... Michael Cimino ... Heaven's Gate?
George Lucas... Howard the Duck.
Mel Brooks... Men in Tights and Life Stinks.
Lucas is a real quack at filmaking, Disney beat him with a stick.

Pinnochio's is the worst thing Zemeckis ever put. It's unwatchable.
Jennifer Connelly getting hit by strays in this one.
I like ‘the Ladykillers’. I saw it in the theatre twice. Is it a masterpiece? No. But I don’t think it’s a bad movie.
I know it gets a lot of smoke, but I actually enjoyed Hulk. The CGI is dated, to be sure, but I liked it.
I really liked the Coen Brothers' The Ladykillers. I found it funny and compelling, failing to understand its negative reviews and backlash.
How dare you slander Hot Tub Time Machine 😂.

Don't knoʻw the ghost's name... but Whistle And I'll Come To You's ghost is very simple but so well done.
Hot Tub Time Machine and Little Nicky are stone cold hilarious. What Shade!
"North" by the, normally, great Rob Reiner. Atrocious.
I was wondering where Howard the Duck was. Then I remembered that while George Lucas is many great things, he's not really a best director.
1941 was great!
Dino DeLaurentis & John Houston did a far more credible version of Noah's Ark in the 1966 film "The Bible... In the Beginning".
What about that Zemuckus movie about the tight rope walker….WHO DIDNT FALL!!!
You should’ve used the Pinocchio remake for Zemekes

Not necessarily arguing with any of these directors being great, but a good 40-50% of them haven’t had a truly great movie in a decade or more now.
8:00 the *Coen Brothers (no "h")
