What's the one movie that just makes you laugh and happy instantly? Mine's A Goofy Movie... or any classic Disney really
I like your videos 🔥👍
If you think that wasn't hilarious enough, you should check out the Thug Notes Get LIT podcast on SoundCloud featuring the Greatest Bromances of Classical Literature. It's also there too. I would highly recommend it to you.
Tommy Boy with Chris Farley & David Spade.
Tropic thunder, every single time
I don't know. Every movie has a low point, doesn't it?
HER: "isn't that a quote?"
ME: *gestures helplessly at the entire movie*
"As you wish, that's like an iconic quote, right?"
Iconic enough to be engraved on my wedding cake topper as well as my husband's and my wedding ring. We also did our first dance to the theme song because we're dorks like that ❤ lol
That is awesome!
A great way to start mawwiage!
And they lived happily ever after
You go on a group date:
Mawwiage.... MAWWIAGE IS WHAT BWINGS US TOGETHAAA TODAAAAYYY.
You are doing so many Shrek quotes, because Shrek references this movie a lot. And, Farquard is Humperdink.
That’s what I find out from every movie reference.
The motion of time.
Shrek is Love, Shrek is Life
@@wvman2374 She needs to react to that.
The actor who played Indigo during the scene with Count Rogan drew on the fact that his father IRL had just died of cancer. In that scene, Count Rogan was the cancer that killed his father.
he also dropped the accent for that line as he killed him
Yep. Mandy Patinkin said that in an interview. Very powerful.
That line chokes me up every time.
For accuracy: not *just* died, but yes. How long ago would not still be painful, anyway?
The "Never get involved in a land war in Asia" line always cracks me despite the fact I have a permanent disability thanks my having been involved in a land war in Asia.
Good advice, wasn't it?
Thank u for your service
Vietnam?
The film Stardust, with Charlie Cox, is basically a spiritual sequel to this. It's ridiculously delightful.
I forgot about Stardust. That is a good movie.
Yep, it's fantastic.
Stardust is ridiculously good...and so many people fail to realise what a genuine Star cast it had.
Captain Shakespeare. Also, trying to play "Spot Henry Cavill."
I keep saying this... finally I find I'm not the only one.
Nics: “Naive little girl.”
Humperdinck: You’re a silly girl.
Nics: “Yes, she she is a silly girl.”
Buttercup: Yes, I am a silly girl!
Nics: Yes.
😂
Fun fact: the dude who played the Giant was Andre “The Giant” he had a lot of health problems at this point in his life though. He wasn’t even strong enough or able bodied enough to catch Robin Wright’s character as she jumped out the window, He needed a harness and she needed wires to be lowered down as softly and gently into his arms. Same thing had to happen with the Carey Elwes fight. As he jumped on Andre’s back Elwes had to be on a wire to take his weight off Andre’s back.
They also primarily used boards, which is why you almost never see their lower halves in those sequences.
It's a real shame, because there was a time when none of that would have been necessary. The man was a titan.
Interesting use of the word fun with that fact, but it is a fact I think is important.
I didn't know that thank you for sharing!
Yep the health issue was cause of his disease that gave him giantism. He later had surgery so he could eventually wrestling hulk hogan. At the height of his popularity he was skill enough to do drop kicks, but eventually he past away at the age of 44. He body couldn't handle the growth
This movie was a big part of childhood.👍
R.I.P. Andre the Giant. One of the all time greats.🙏
He almost became a Westley crusher.
@@TheGoauldApophis Take my updoot you sonovabitch. And then shut up, Wesley.
Everyone before they've seen The Princess Bride: " Why does this movie get so much hype? I don't understand. It looks like its gonna be cheesy."
Everyone after seeing The Princess Bride: " Oh my God, that was so good!!! I loved it!!! I completely get how everyone loves this!!!"
Right!
I like that Cary Elwes' charm and comedic timing gets people over the mustache.
I honestly know him from Saw and then I look back at shows that came out when I was a kid and I'm like damn I should have known him from this but I see him I think Dr Lawrence Gordon sorry not sorry
I’m glad someone else thinks the mustache is disgusting. :)
@@Zeddyboi86 You slap a little beard with that mustache and he turns into Robin Hood
"I don't think they exist" one beat.... and
The mustache is an homage to the Errol Flynn/Douglas Fairbanks swashbuckling pirate movies of the 30's & 40's.
Westley’s limp-noodle acting is just 💯 I don’t care how many times I watch this (and it’s a lot), that part always brings the laughs. 😂
So hilarious!
Yeah, I'm not sure Cary Elwes ever got enough credit for that. Did he ever get a showcase like this again? He almost doesn't sound like himself any more now that his accent's worn down.
@@karlmortoniv2951 He was great in this and Robin Hood: Men in Tights but this is def the highlight of his career. (I'd say "so far' but let's face it, this is a perfect movie.)
@@joeypotter6051 Somehow I never remember “Men in Tights.” No earthly idea why.
The facial hair is a homage to the old school black and white Zorro, Robin Hood and Swashbuckler Movies of Errol Flynn.
Yes, and along with that the 1/2 real scenes, gives it a real vintage feel, well done.
You're right about the mustache but wrong about Zorro. That was Tyrone Power. However they both got to kill poor Basil Rathbone who, in real life, was one of the best fencers in Hollywood.
@@waterbeauty85 sorry about that, what I meant and should have said was, "and Swashbuckler Movies of Errol Flynn and the like". Only meant to use Errol as the most famous name and poster boy for that time and genre not specifically Errol as the actor for all those films.
@@po5283 Absolutely true. As much as I loved Tyrone Power as Zorro and Gene Kelly as D'artagnan in The Three Musketeers, part of me kept thinking "Isn't this supposed to be Errol Flynn?"
@@waterbeauty85 thanks for keeping me on my toes, I hate when I miss word my intent. Also thanks for the info on Tyrone Power, had either no clue or if I did it was forgotten long ago.
You are saying “This is Shrek” and the entire time I was watching Shrek a decade ago, I was thinking “This is The Princess Bride!” 😄 Shrek definitely heavily borrowed from this movie
Dare I say it,
RIPOFF!
No joking here: When I saw this in my Subscriptions, my first thought was:
‘INCONCEIVABLE!’
Inigo has always been my favorite in the book and the movie. I love him so much. And Cary Elwes's comedic timing as Westley is SO DAMN GOOD! Brilliant film.
If you love Cary Elwes comedy, then Robin Hood: Men in Tights is a must watch.
This movie DESERVES the hype in my opinion. I love this movie and if ever you have a bad day or week, you can just watch this movie and laugh the bad day away.
Sad folks don't recognise COLUMBO.
😞
( for Kevin Garnica below 👇. It's sad that folks don't recognise Columbo 👍😞)
Ahh… just one more thing.
To me, grampa isn’t Peter Falk, he’s forever Lt. Columbo. 👌🏻
Or that the six-fingered man is Christopher Guest - who turned the volume up to "eleven" in Spinal Tap
I totally read your comment as "sad" folks don't recognise Columbo, instead of {it's} sad {that} folks don't recognise Columbo. I was like, folks who are generally happy probably don't recognise him either LOL
@@tfpp1 edited. ☺
@@wesleyrodgers886 Oh brother! HAHA You didn't have to do that, but thanks anyway, I guess. XD
“I’m not a witch I’m your wife.”
"They're just carrying his dead body?"
You should watch Weekend at Bernie's haha
One of my all time favorites and I'm a grown-ass man. To this day I still tell people, "you keep using that word, I do not think it means what you think it means." So glad you enjoyed it!
It's the best meme!
"As you wish" is the quote of the movie. Also "you killed my father, prepare to die"
"Inconceivable!" "You keep using that word; I do not think it means what you think it means", "Have fun stormin' the castle!", "Wuv!, twoo wuv!" .. many more.
This movie is just one massive quotable thing
@@WigganNuG "wuv, twoo wuv" always makes me laugh 🤣
I'm pretty fond of " never start a land war in Asia!!"
This is one of those movies that finds a way to be great to watch as a kid and just as appealing as an adult
Those are the best kinda movies!
An absolute classic. Love this movie. It’s so funny the difference in your intro not having seen it, being skeptical about it’s “hype”, then after seeing it, your adoration. Now you know how magical The Princess Bride is and how it stands the rest of time.
Your reactions are so fun to watch. I can’t believe you haven’t seen it before. Wait, there’s a word for that…
Nics&nacs: "I can't remember his name..."
Everyone Else: "He says it like 70 times!" lol.
"what's his name, In- something, I can't remember his name" "MY NAME IS INIGO MONTOYA!"
"Are stunt people actually doing that? That would hurt so much!"
Yeah, it's no worse than the annual Gloucester Cheese Rolling contest in the UK. 🤣 (Look it up if you don't know about it... 😉)
Oh and the 'fake castle' at the end? It's Real! It is a real castle in England: Haddon Hall, that was used both for the interior and exterior scenes!
I think they also used it for Bill & Ted's Excellent Adventure.
If you look up Jill Bearup’s channel, she has an excellent breakdown of the Cliffs of Insanity sword fight. It’s absolutely legendary in stage combat.
The actors trained for the fight. Including learning how to use both hands. They practised every moment they were not actually required to be filming and the fight was the last thing that was shot so they time to become experts.
Prince Humperdinck is played by Christopher Sarandon who was the speaking voice of Jack Skelington in 'The Nightmare Before Christmas' whereas Danny Elfman was the singing voice and composer of the score
Perhaps, just perhaps, this movie is the mother of all the references you seem to be getting. Maybe the other movies copied this one. Just a thought.
If you think Westley is funny in this movie, you should check out Mel Brooks' Robin Hood: Men in Tights. It's a comedic parody of Robin Hood movies, and Westley's actor plays Robin. :D
The Princess Bride has such heart.
You should react to Blazing Saddles and Monty Python and the Holy Grail! Two classic comedies from the 70s
I was today years old when I learned Prince Humperdink was the speaking voice of Jack Skellington
Here's why I think Inigo survived the fight: if you watch the scene where they give the pill to Westley, Inigo actually bites off a small piece of the pill.
I rather think he licks his fingers... That's the reason in the book, anyways.
There aren't many perfect movies. This is one.
"Buttercup is so useless!"
Of course she is! Female characters in 80s movies come in 2 flavors: sword-wielding badasses or helpless damsels. It's one extreme or the other. Lol. I still love this movie though.
I'll make my own comment : One Movie that makes me laugh and happy? A Fish Called Wanda - An absolutely must see movie , its Monty Python, but not as chaotic, a serious comedy
I had a teacher that would put this on when she didn't feel like teaching.
I met Chris Sarandon and Wallace Shawn at Comic con and got their autographs on my Princess Bride Blu-ray case.
One of my favorite movies. I probably watch it a few times each year.
Fantastic movie reaction and commentary. Andre the Giant was so strong that he probably could have climbed those cliffs like that for real. The guy was superhuman and truly an amazing person by all accounts.
Apparantly he once drank 100 beers in one night
Not at the time of filming, sadly. He was very very sick when they made this movie.
His body was worn down from his years of wrestling, they had to use a lot of ways to look like he was doing the work. He passed away shortly after the movie came out. He had a normal size human heart, which is hard on larger people. His friendly, loving heart was big though. It's great to watch the making of this classic. Tears in Robin's eyes when she talks about his kindness.
My family and I were just talking about Princess Bride last night and quoting all our favourite lines!!
Isn't that basically every single line?
@@christianwise637 "I would not say such things if I were you!" Yep, basically.
Oh Geez at the end when you mention Wallace Shawn then said "I can't believe he died". I was like "wait, what? He did? OMG!" then I realized you meant the character he played.
"My Father's final words were 'Love her as I loved her and there will be joy'"
I don't think the father was referring to Buttercup. I believe that the father was referring to the country that he was the King of.
I watched this for the first time around 2019 and honestly the smile plastered on my face for the entire duration. I'd compare this film to a cosy blanket on a winter's night lol 😂. Sometimes, you just need a feel good sweet film y'know. Also Cary Elwes... Is damn fine in this film 😂 😂 😂
So you pretty much yammered on through most of the movie making thus unwatchable.
BTW with hideous lank blue hair it's probably best not to comment on the hairstyles from the movie.
In my top ten favorite films of all time. Cary Elwes has a great book about the making of it. Shrek took a lot of inspiration from it (since, you know, this film came well before that one). Also, the comments on the moustaches, especially Wesley's as the DPR, were almost exact nods to the swashbucklers of old films, as were his costumes. So much talent in this film. Rob went on to direct so many great films, including some of the best Stephen King adapations ever - Misery and Stand by Me - and the cast are all still going strong (RIP Andre the Giant). You should watch the great documentary on Andre. Glad you finally watched this one.
This is my favorite movie ever. So good, it's... I N C O N C E I V A B L E.
Throughout my childhood, this movie was constantly on. I mean constantly - whenever I was in some sort of group situation, this was almost always the movie they chose. At parties when they needed something to keep the kids happy, at sleepovers, in school sometimes - it was always playing, and no one ever got tired of it. I don't even remember the first time I saw it; it was just always there. I don't actually watch it myself all that often these days, but ye gods, is it nostalgic.
For a movie with similar qualities, I would recommend the '38 'Adventures of Robin Hood', with Errol Flynn. Yes, it's old as the hills, but ye gods, has it aged well. So much fun, great action, iconic score, stalwart heroes, slimy villains, sweet romance, best sword fight ever seen in a movie - just pure entertainment from start to finish.
I have also met Cary Elwes when he hosted a showing of this movie. Fun fact
Andre the Giant used a 4 wheel ATV to get around the set. He let Wesley, Cary Elwes, drive it. Cary got his toe broke on it.
“Is that an iconic quote?” You are watching one of the most quoted movies maybe ever. So yes...
I think when he was being “mean” to her and threatening to hit her he was still playing the role of the pirate. As maybe he wouldn’t have given himself up as Westley if she said she no longer loved him
Hi Nici, greetings from Iowa USA. The guy who played Vizzini also did a voice it the movie you love very much, The Incredibles. He voiced Bob's boss. Take care.
"She doesn't get eaten by the eels at this time..."
I always love that 4th wall break. IT's such a grandpa move to care that his grandson is getting a little too scared. It's so simple, but it reminds you there is real love in the telling of this tale.
And Nici's face was fitting.
And the amount of reactors going "gee, thanks, gradpa" is proof of how well it is placed.
Your commentary was unwatchable. Way too much babble.
Cary Elwes' moustache looks like a cappuccino stain lol
Shrek took a lot from this movie.
"I hope she's not afraid of heights". Apparently, Wallace Shawn was TERRIFIED of heights and actually said "I cannot do this". Andre` the Giant calmed him and said something like, "I won't let you fall. I've got you", and he calmed down.
Listening to you do nothing but rip on this movie was disappointing. It was like every stereotypical nonsense gen Z reaction in one video. "Oh my god, like, ewww... why? Ugh..." Had to turn it off. Judgemental much? You couldn't just sit back and enjoy a beloved 30 year old classic?
I laughed when you made fun of the 80's hair...
- Maybe 30 years from now, someone will react to this video and be like "Oh my god... look at her hair. I mean seriously, I know it was the 20's and all, but still... blue hair? Ugh.".
The "myth" that you should wait before getting in the pool... Lady let me tell you:
One day, many years ago, I ate a footlong meatball sub sandwich, and then my friend and I met at the beach to go diving. I dove once, swam around the pier, and felt unusually strained. I climbed out, plodded over to the nearest bush, and puked up my entire lunch- in a crowd of 50,000 festival goers. Single most embarassing moment in my life.
Wait for that food to get past your stomach. If you strain yourself, at least you don't embarass yourself.
You should listen to Cary Elwes’ _audiobook_ “As You Wish.” It’s a delightful treat for Princess Bride fans. 🥰🥰🥰
The brilliant thing about this film is that it has something that can appeal to everyone's tastes. It's got some action, some comedy, some romance... one could argue a touch of horror with the Pit of Despair segment. My mom is the only one I know who doesn't like this film. I don't get it either.
"Something for everyone". Got my friend to watch it one day and after 10 minutes I had to turn it off because she hates period pieces. Add one more to momma - Inconceivable!
I'm sorry, you have trouble remembering the name of the character that litterally repeats the line "hello, my name is Inogo Montoya" half a dozen times?! XD
You just made your own bad jokes through the whole video, when the movie has so many fantastic funny things.
This felt different than your videos usually.
Dude i watched this in year 7 english class for a film study. Bruh we were losing our shxx! Its so fxxxing funny!
"I dont understand why everyone loves this movie." MA'AM, HOW DARE YOU? Also, I loved the parts where you talked over iconic lines. lol
I'm like how much of the dialogue did you actually hear?
"As you wish..."
which Darth Vader said to Govenor Tarkin in A New Hope when Vader was Force choking one of the men in the conference room..... Vader and Tarkin???
Inigo lived through being so wounded because he kissed the miracle pill before he fed it to Westly. He got enough magic to survive his wounds.
“I have been in the revenge business so long, now that it’s over, I don’t know what to do with the rest of my life.”
- Iñigo Montoya
Every time I see Andre I get all sad but it's a great movie nonetheless & should remain untouched.
Jeez obsess about hair much?
This was waaaaay over edited. We're here for your reaction, not to see a clip from another movie every 45 seconds
You should watch it again where you're not constantly riffing so you can get the other half of the jokes.
If you haven't seen it, watch "Robin Hood: Men in Tights".
When I was a little kid the "boooo" scene scared the hell out of me. 😂
same
Same I think it gave me nightmares 😂
I'm glad to know I'm not weird for getting terrified anymore
I lost track of how many times I’ve watched it since it released back in the day, so totally rewatchable.
am I the only one who had SUCH a huge crush on Cary Elwes after this?
This review = Critique of blonde locks :P
Pretty much 😂
My wife has never seen this movie..... I should be the one that has never seen it and she should be the one that loves it.... weird..... I fucking love this movie though. One day I'll get her to watch it... and we're both nearly 40 so she has no excuse.
I love you dear. Now watch The Princess Bride right now or I am divorcing you. Problem solved! 😁
during the beginnings of covid quarantine time, a bunch of celebrities made their own home footage of them acting in scenes from this movie and were all put together to make a supercut. fun stuff to see.
The hype is that it is literally the perfect movie
Lol, I only know the main actor from Men in Tights, which is a hilarious Mel Brooks movie. I wait all the time that He says something weird, but he don't.
Actually, "Shrek" has "Princess Bride" vibes. Farquardt was an intentional reference to Humperdinck.
Can you watch the hunchback of Notre Dame
"Stop rhyming ..I mean it!"
"Anybody want a Peanut?"
You seriously need to do Robin Hood: Men in Tights. Same actor, Cary Elwes, and it's also a fantasy comedy made six years after this one. It's hilarious. Also please consider Labyrinth, it's the most awesome 80's fantasy movie ever. And it has David Bowie so that automatically makes it the best movie ever. Just mho.
Most annoying reaction EVER.
Congrats on reaching 60k!!!
Thanks ☺️
This is a true classic. Even Deadpool payed homage to the film in the Christmas re=release of his movie ("Once Upon a Deadpool.") The merc-with-a-mouth even kidnapped... er... I mean, _'persuaded'_ a now grown up Fred Savage to appear in the film.
Fun fact: Excluding the gymnastics, the fencing duel was done by the actors. Director Rob Reiner hired an actual fencing mater to teach them proper technique.
I'll keep recommending you to watch:
Little Monsters starring Lupita Nyong'o
!
I gasped! This is top tier. Thank yoooou 😍😍😍
and now you know why EVERYONE loves and quotes this movie. It's inconceivable that you wouldn't quote this after watching it. The giant is played by Andre the Giant. A wrestler and from all that I have heard a very nice guy.
"Oh my God, HER hair!" (that is, the mother's, as she enters the sick room). Sweetie, take a look in your mirror! My guess, based on quite a few of your reactions, is that you're in the hair cutting/make-up business.
YESSS this absolutely one of my favourite movies!! ✨✨✨ I literally re-watch it at least once a year 😂
