NFL makes 10x that of the NBA as a league. The issue is revenue sharing which it’s obviously NFL owners don’t want to increase the slice of pie given to NFL players. Can’t be mad NBA players are more business savvy, and create their own brands to use as leverage contract wise.
Gil is Right Shannon this isn’t 1987 and if you don’t believe Gil is right try it for a year The NFL wouldn’t guarantee Lamar’s contract because the owners didn’t want to set a president
It's easy for those that have a solidify standing to hold out or ask others to hold out. Those that are just making ends meet will never do since they have more to lose. If the movement is important, the top tier players need to provide loans, with no interest. That way they have skin in the game, without making a potential side profit, as those that are cutting their living paycheck. Both will have strong incentive to make the hold out work.
I agree with Shannon on this one. The only thing that would dissuade the fans from watching or showing up would be a degradation of play on the field. NFL fans don't show up to see particular players, they show up to see the team. The players are secondary.
You have a 53 man Roster plus practice squad. They have 15 players. The problem the nfl is going to have when they have 60 qbs who can start in about 5 to 10 years. These guys have alot of time to train to be pro ready unlike 20 to 30 yrs ago when you might have 10 great qbs in a span of 5 drafts. When do the numbers come down?
I think owners could easily still vouch for retaining a hard salary cap but it just means you can’t pay a QB 50/mil a year so in turn it would level out the the paying field for all positions. BUT that smaller contract is fully guaranteed. It’ll be a give and take but that’s how you fully guarantee contracts up the salary cap to 300-350Mil/year and fully guarantee contracts for all players.
No ant signed a 5/204. He got that because he was a alstar on his rookie deal. Now that he has made is first all nba team. That increases the 204 to 245. So it adds about 7 million dollars to each year.
The problem with the league is, they will always have college students to put on the uniforms, that brings crowds with them the next year. America loves they're football.
The owners have these players programmed to think like Unc. Thinking it won’t really matter because they can replace them. Will people show up to the games regardless sure but I don’t think that Unc understands that Stars is what sells these games as well not just the teams. They really don’t understand the power they could have but the players as a whole aren’t willing to take a stand.
This is why I said what Kap was doing was pointless, there was no plan or end goal. All these dudes just want to “look” like they are doing something. But nothing ever changes when you focus on surface level and symbolism

@@Packman2397 In the NFL, you can always find somebody that can do your job for less money. In the NBA, you cannot say that. You see NBA teams like Washington and Charlotte that have been playing for the future for years.

@@EDWARDTHEEAUTHOR league minimum has nothing to do with holding out for simple contract guarantees and increased revenue sharing from tv and advertising deals. NFL is falling behind baseball and basketball in players salaries year after year
NFL players play around 20 games a year. The other sports play more games which means more revenue and ticket sales. Therefore NFL players will typically make less money per year. Mathematically it makes sense.
@@mateaukalua4426 so how does playing 20 games have an impact on guaranteed contracts, affordable healthcare after retirement, or improved revenue share?

1. Guaranteed contracts
2. No franchise tag
3. Lifetime health insurance
4. No salary caps
Your just asking for fucking super teams with no salary cap ..
No the nfl needs a salary cap
It doesn’t matter about size of roster or how many players. The NFL generates more money than the NBA they have the means to do guaranteed contracts. The MLB does it
Thats a NFLPA problem

They should have guarantees, at least 40% of their total contract. This way, the business is safe, and the players are taken care of.

The minimum nfl salary is 750k…. You’re telling me you can’t survive one year off of that??? Knowing how much I make and how I’m able to live off of that, man I could survive 3 damn years off of 750k
Remember 40% go to taxes plus the agent fee. Be I do agree I could live three years comfortably on 450k take home.
Let me simplify this. The players has all the power, but they buckled under pressure instead of sticking together and the owners knew they would

NFL makes 10x that of the NBA as a league. The issue is revenue sharing which it’s obviously NFL owners don’t want to increase the slice of pie given to NFL players.

Gil is Right
Shannon this isn’t 1987 and if you don’t believe Gil is right try it for a year
The NFL wouldn’t guarantee Lamar’s contract because the owners didn’t want to set a president
Shannon talking about 87 this is 24 times have changed and if it don’t work once try that shit again
Within the first 11 min already unc was so loud that he wouldn’t let Gil speak like dang 😂😂 let the basketball guy speak
No ant signed a 5/204. He got that because he was a alstar on his rookie deal. Now that he has made is first all nba team. That increases the 204 to 245. So it adds about 7 million dollars to each year.
You cannot get guaranteed money until you SHUT IT DOWN!!! NIL make the drafted players more patient.
We need UNK “knowledge” with Gil “Nuts” . Unk don’t have the courage to go up against the NFL
Gil really said they can practice one day and play 2 games in the same week. 😂

Theres only 15 players on a nba team compared to like 50+ on a nfl team. Simple mathematics
Not simple because there’s no reason for the NFL salary cap to be anywhere near the NBA’s. They generate like $25 billion a year so a $250 million dollar hard salary cap to pay 53 players is really peanuts when you think about it
