    I went free agent to the Vikings in 2011. Signed for 50k, when I got my check it was around 27k . I ended up getting released and then having a hunting accident that kept me from going to the patriots. I was able to earn my masters degree while at THE U. it’s because of that and Gods blessing I’m where I am today. I am a commercial tire salesman with a 90k annual salary and I’m living better than I ever would have if I would have still been in the NFL. many of my former college teammates who went on to play for 7+ years are barely living better than they were when we were in college. Sometimes structure is better. Chad use to work out with us and preach the same things back in 2008. It really isn’t all what people see. Much love

I’ve got more scars and broken bones then the average man but I also have the discipline, drive, and so many other characteristics I learned or that was instilled in me that have propelled me to be able to live the way i prefer. So while I would say my education may not have cost me anything monetary, it was just payed for by other means but I do know what you mean brother and I really appreciate that.

    Bravo to Unc and Ocho for talking about this. This stat is from Google: By the time they have been retired for two years, 78 percent of former NFL players have gone bankrupt or are under financial stress; within five years of retirement, an estimated 60 percent of former NBA players are broke. By shedding light on this subject, hopefully fans and players will realize just how serious it is to learn the discipline that Ocho was talking about.

    I wish more young Black men knew about the power of COMPOUNDING INTEREST.

    • @MrMan-fx3ow

      We understand it, most young black men are just functionally broke. Saving all your money and cutting lifestyle expenses when you’re young negatively affects your potential dating options in the short term in a major way, that’s the main reason why young black men don’t do it.
      If you think you’re gonna live in a lower end apartment, drive older cars, have just a decent wardrobe, not spend a lot traveling and actually keep a pretty black girl around you can freaking forget it.
      The average income and the societal expectations from young black men are severally out of whack based on the economy. The majority of the black youth are not growing up in traditional homes and that’s why everything is so toxic in the dating pool.
      We understand that you’ll be rich by the time you’re old if you save almost everything, but then at that point you’re just a rich old trick.

The nuclear black family has been ruined by media but the black man has always been valuable in the eyes of most women. Now I’m older and have a great career and own my home outright and make a lot of money to travel and now black and Hispanic women look my way at the same clip that other races do. Baseball has 162 games in their regular season. That’s 162 times in just the regular season for ticket sales, concession sales, merch sales, and that’s before you get to tv deals, advertising, and sponsorship. and the price only goes up for everything in the postseason and the World Series. And also baseball doesn’t have a salary cap. These are some of the big reasons why mlb makes that kind of money to pay players those huge contracts.

    • @juspulluponme1594
      @juspulluponme1594 Месяц назад +5

      Exactly.! Just with basic understanding that’s almost 10xs the amount of games so you can kinda guess how much money is generated

    • @thewatcher8343
      @thewatcher8343 Месяц назад

      @@juspulluponme1594 yessir! baseball is the most “grindiest”, tedious, & difficult sport of them all…but goodness you get rewarded on the back end if you stick it out

    • @puzzlepiecemedia
      @puzzlepiecemedia Месяц назад +1

      So do they make a distinction between ticket sales and attendance? Cause like Ocho said some of those games be looking very empty. So are those tickets being sold and people just don't go to the game for whatever reason?

    • @thewatcher8343
      @thewatcher8343 Месяц назад

      @@puzzlepiecemedia they’re all tied together. but it’s still 162 games man. but you also have to factor in that teams with poor attendance like that don’t usually have big time players on their teams. If you have time, compare the payroll and attendance of the dodgers vs the white sox. baseball’s lack of salary cap is a problem to some ppl. because teams like the dodgers and Yankees can horde talent and payout huge contracts that smaller market teams can’t possibly afford.

      Dude why are you writing a book😅. MLB revenue is around $11.6 billion.
      Hence, the NFL is generating around $18.7 billion.
      These can easily be research.
      Teams like Steelers, and cowboys can have 25 to 30 millions average viewers in a regular season game.

    Reason baseball players get paid so much is because teams don't have a salary cap. Also baseball players unions are way stronger than in NFL/NBA. In NFL, everyone trying to get paid quickly instead of holding out, and there's always someone next in line willing to work for less. NFL players could learn something from baseball players about self organizing and sacrificing for better pay.

I agree with Shannon as I also got the I'm pregnant notification 27 years ago, and I had the same response as unc.
