  • The battle for control of Sudan has created one of the world's worst humanitarian crises.
More than nine months of fighting between the army and paramilitary Rapid Support Forces has pushed almost five million people to the brink of starvation.
The World Food Programme says the number of Sudanese going hungry has doubled since the violence began in April.
Insecurity and restricted access have made aid agencies' operations nearly impossible.
Humanitarian organisations are appealing to the international community to increase their funding.
So, what can be done to ease the suffering of the Sudanese people?
    Presenter: Tom McRrae
    Guests:
Hajooj Kuka -- Spokesman for Emergency Response Rooms, a youth-led volunteer network that delivers aid in Sudan
Raga Makawi -- Editor of African Arguments, a pan-African online news platform. She and her family fled Khartoum when the conflict started
William Carter -- Sudan Country Director for the Norwegian Refugee Council

Ukraine, Gaza and Sudan have something in common; Russian interference. Although not all evil in the world can be blamed on them, they cause much suffering and economic damage.

I greatly appreciate this news report, the video made by the journalist and the panel. What is the best way an ordinary person like me can help with all countries needing essential humanitarian aid? Thanks for reading.

I may have misinterpreted what was said, but it sounded to me like humanitarian aid is being used by conflicting groups as leverage to draw support to whatever side has the most. One thing that is missing in the narrative is what natural resources this region has, how can the resources, be it strenghts, natural talents or long understood wisdom of the people there, natural ports, rare minerals or quality soil or climate conditions for crops that can be grown and harvested. "Without a vision, the people perish".
Capture the world's attention away from the images of a dry and thirsty land that has always been and less a miracle will be in a crises of food insecurity for lack of a nicer phrase, isn't a land where human habitation is possible. To, this is how it is possible and this is what the people want to bring to the table less hungry, starving children with their hands out for the remainder of life on this planet. I know that sounds cruel and uncaring, but the reality is that's what the world sees, not the priceless, precious individuals with hopes and dreams for a future of self-sufficiency and contribution.
Leadership also appears to be for power, position and control only for a few high ranking individuals. Not for reasons of building an economy and stability for the people to thrive in peace, living side by side," wishing no harm on their neighbors who are living in security beside them", Proverbs. Praying daily for the people of Sudan, the innocent, poor, disenfranchised, who are greatly loved by God our creator. Like myself, they have got to be tired of men with guns and weapons of war doing satan's bidding by stealing, killing and destroying. Those doing such things should be quaking with fear for they know not what day the Master may return for His harvest. All signs point to any day now. God bless and have mercy upon all of us.

When you sad without vision a people perish let me feel you must be jamaican that's almost verbatim apart of the prayer in our national anthem. The whole anthem is a prayer to God. The four two words are eternal father bless our land. I'm sure Sudanese need all you said.

I'll tell you why the peace talks or cease fires fail. Why there isn't a clear solution we can implement now. And the real origin of this war from a historical, anthropological and philosophical manner. The Sudanese are going through a terrible nightmare. You can't imagine. The struggle with reality is real.
