    A simple warning, is. should you touch the steering wheel during the auto reversing, the car will stop the auto reversing, and leave you to do it yourself, but have trust the car will park itself safely.

    My BMW i4 has parking assistance. The front camera will adjust and point to any curbs or parking blocks that the car is approaching. It will warn when you are getting close. I love this because my previous BMWs had low profiles which led to scratched front bumper.

      Unfortunately I purchase 2024 i4 with added parking assist package. I subsequently found out that it does not give the option to pull forward into a spot only backwards and you cannot save or records parking maneuver either. Finally I was disappointed that you cannot use the Bmw app to remotely maneuver car in or out of a tight spot. For some reason these options were note availability in USA parking assist package for i4. Very disappointed ☹️

    When parallel parking on a road with a curb is there any tips you’d give to stop it from scuffing my alloys. Maybe just have your foot on the brake a little so it’s slow enough for you to stop it? Also does the x1 parking assistance do this or only park assistance plus

    • @BeamerView
      @BeamerView  Год назад +1

      Curbs are one of the worst enemies for vehicles that can park themselves. It's in the manual too that the cars can't always detect curbs, so you'll see the vehicle run over the curb or scrap it as you mentioned.
      Yes you can use the brake to stop before it hits it and that's probably going to be ur best bet. I would also make sure your curb side mirror is folding down, this can be achieved by adjusting the left or right side mirror selecter switch to the right position.
      The best way to tell if the X1 has it or not is by looking on its parking assistance screen. On the top right you would see a steering wheel with the letter P beside it. I will say that the previous X1's were the worst with this feature since they were one of the first to have it. RIP to the street cones I hit with it =)

    I have a very tight garage. Can you do a video showing how to use the parking assistant to automatically park in the garage. I also read that the car will back out automatically by retracing the path taken into the garage. Can you show how that works too? Thanks. Just ordered a new BMW and recently discovered your channel. Great videos! Keep it up.

    • @BeamerView
      @BeamerView  8 месяцев назад +3

      Thanks for watching. So couple things, there is a parking assistant feature that can do parkings such as parralell and perpendicular spots such as the ones in parking lots and street side.
      The function for parking it into a garage would be "record paths" its a brand new function that they are rolling out with and with this function you could set it up so that the vehicle can enter the garage and even exit it with a push of a button.
      You can go into the parking assistant screen and then you'll see on the right to "Record Path" then it'll go into a mode where it'll began to record your car movements, just drive it into the garage or exit just like you normally would and it'll remember it.
      The next time when you're at the starting point of your path, in the parking assistant screen, it'll ask you if you would like to use your recorded path to park or exit your vehicle!

    Thanks for your great videos. I have an I4 M50 arriving in a couple of months! Watching this, I am a little confused about the braking. I would assume that the entire process could be done without the foot on the brake (including the final stop before potentially hitting the car at the rear). Am I correct or does the driver have to manually control braking?

    • @BeamerView
      @BeamerView  2 года назад +4

      Thanks for reaching out Michelle! The vehicle will come to a full stop all by itself when it’s done auto parking.
      I mentioned the part about braking simply because it tends to scare people at first since it does it so fast and well.
      You could have the whole parking done without even touching the brake at all if you choose to.

    I have this feature in my ix50 and its both good and bad. First, whenever I need the option, I cant seem to find it, or I press the cone button and it doesnt do anything. Then, it’s damn scary how it pulls into spaces or maneuvers into the space such that each time I take control of the wheel and brake the car. Finally, I live on a one way street and pulling out of my garage with Park Assist pulls me into traffic going the wrong way, which is very dangerous.

    • @BeamerView

      Good points. Yes it’s not a perfect system. It does a good job of detecting cars, even though it gets pretty darn close.
      Likes it does a okay job but just watch out for curbs since it’s not always apparent.
      Yes the park assist feature is mainly designed to get you out the driveway, after that I wouldn’t rely on it and take over.

      I will add this to the list, but very easy. It works the same way for apple carplay and andriod auto. You simply HOLD DOWN the voice command button until google assistant pops up on the screen.
