As a comp sci major I appreciate the analogy lol. Definitely a lesson I am still learning in my life. I’m not wasting as much time as before, but I still have a long way to go. There’s a hymn I like, the chorus goes like: “Turn your eyes upon Jesus, look full in his wonderful face, And the things of earth will grow strangely dim In the light of his glory and grace.”
I was convicted with this type of thing recently. I had to delete some subscriptions that weren't bad for most, but were making me be not satisfied with my own life. I struggle with spending too much time on youtube too. I've changed my bell notifications to only beneficial content so I minimize when I go on the app. I also try to only watch my subscriptions and not extra stuff. It's hard but worth it.
Since I was born again this year I stopped watching/ reading and listening stuff that I did earlier. My life and I changed completely. I even don't want to do that stuff anymore cause I realize that it leaves me empty afterwards. I'm single and I get that even listening to romantic love songs lead to sinful thoughts. I focus on Jesus instead. Every time I do that He reaches out His hand and helps me
ok. wow. i’m just halfway through the video right now but wow. when you said that we can see these types of videos and say “yes Jesus!” and “praise God” but then go look at or listen to garbage really spoke to me. i’ve been unfollowing some instagram pages and deleted some music i’ve downloaded and unsubscribing from youtube channels that i once followed, simply because Holy Spirit is telling me to. i believe i am growing and some things i saw or heard that may have been “ok” once, doesn’t mean they’re ok now. the path is narrow.
Wow!! Thank you so much!!! A couple years ago I felt like I needed to stop watching some certain shows, and I did but today I was missing those so much. I almost went and watched one, I was literally missing them and felt like I was ready to start watching again, even though deep down I knew that it was not what's best for me. Then the same day you post this. Thank you so much. Love you and thank you for your heart.
this video was so insightful & definitely has me reflecting, thank u so much for that incredible analogy, I'll be keeping this in mind, the whole idea of protecting what we ingest, sending u love from another Christian youtuber ❤
I woke up with a desire to search for a Christian video that would actually help me focus on my academics. This video helps. Thank You God!! Thank you, Bex! 😘😘
This is so deep. Thank you for the push to live a holy life style! This week I'm going to put it into action, unfollow some accounts, put down my phone, and look to Jesus in prayer and reading. ❤
Yes Becca THANK YOU! I have an identic memory, so I literally remember everything I see and listen to. It's definitely more fruitful for me to spend time on things that will help me turn my heart towards the Lord 😀😀👍
Hi Becca, you are so right! We really have to watch out what information we take in through the media , & not forget Jesus! Our time on earth is not limitless
I needed to hear this too! Since i got my internet hookup fixed, i have decreased my time in the Bible. I've had the idea in the back of my head that i needed to readjust for a while but i've been ignoring it and here you are with this message. I am so convicted rn
Hey Becca! I wanted to let you know that I loved your video, and not just this one but I love ALL your videos and they’ve been so helpful to me in means of strengthening my faith. It’s very encouraging to know that the things I am going through are normal and that there is still hope for me even though I am a sinner. Thank you so much for this video! With Covid and everything going on I have been online more than ever and I really want to get into the habit of reading the Bible or helping my family or just talking to God instead of watching TV or scrolling through social media. I took a long break from these things not too long ago and I think it really helped my relationship with Jesus to grow stronger, so I think I will take your advice and start looking for healthy, Christian substitutes from being on my phone all the time. Thank you again for your uplifting videos! Love ya!
I loved your point about thinking as a RUclipsr what people are doing after they comment on your stuff! Funny enough today for the first time I changed the outro to my video from “if you enjoyed it click like, subscribe, etc.” to “if you liked it, go put it into practice!” This video was spot on. Thanks for all you do!
Wow, I literally was watching videos that were not conducive and the Holy Spirit was convicting me to not waste my time on RUclips watching random things, but to go to Christian talks that is uplifting and I found your channel and this video. God is definitely working, so happy new subbie :)
I feel I definitely don’t store that “garbage” stuff too. I feel like I have a great memory when it comes to literally anything else but the worst memory when it comes to *most* social media posts.
This is crazy true! This is convicting. Been eliminating bad habits and garbage in my life that keep me from growing into Christlikeness. Challenging but worth it. 💕
I just watched a video by a young man named Hiith. I read some of those comments and actually was very worried about the current generation because of what I read and the things he stated in his video. Then I clicked on this. I am so glad to see in the very next video that there is HOPE for all of our young people with young ladies like you out there trying to make a difference. Please don't stop!
Amén sister. So true.... We waste our time doing so many garbage things. I recently started my Instagram and RUclips and that's what motivated me to start. Maybe I can give something worthwhile..... Blessings friend. 😍
My night was super hard, I was reading my devotional and was about to go outside like I always do and relax for a few, watch RUclips like I always do, and before I can outside I though of your videos and I opened RUclips and your video is the first this I saw. Wow
I for sure still have a way to go on this, but I can attest that purging your life of things that aren't constructive or edifying can be so liberating. I knew that my love for a certain video game series was idolatrous and taking up so much of my time and attention, and by the grace of God (I couldn't have done it by my own strength) I was enabled to completely cut it from my life. It was the kind of thing that had to be ripped up root and stem because the temptation was too great. Now I barely even miss it and my life has been more productive, more joyful and free from the guilt that would weigh on me. If the Holy Spirit is convicting you of something you need to give up, don't hold on to it - the longer you do, the longer you are hurting yourself!
Love this! I’ve been feeling very convicted about what I watch, read and scroll past. Just the last couple days I’ve deleted all social media except RUclips and Pinterest. I also threw away close to 100 movies. I was telling my husband if we’re watching something and people are acting in ways we wouldn’t act or we wouldn’t want our son to act (or a daughter if we had one), we shouldn’t be watching it. What we watch changes our brains sooooo much!
A lot of times, when me and my family watch movies and how satanic everything is getting. We just look at it like a guide of what not to do. But yeah, with kids you have to be careful. Look for older cartoons for children. Like there is a series and movies about bunnies, called watership down. It's wholesome.
Thank you, this video has left me w more to think about. I know God has definitely been doing a work in me, and helping me stay more focused on Him in everything I do. I remember throughout my childhood my parents always saying, “If Jesus were around, would you be doing that?” Even though we can’t physically see Him, He always is. Definitely stuck with me. Great message! ❤️
I really need to hear this and this challenge is real good. I’ve been trying to spent less time on phones and also watching things that’s worthless. Time really past by from our fingers swiping on social media. I surely will take up this challenge!!! Fasting fb, instagram and those worthless and meaningless content. Thank you for speaking out and encouraging us. God bless you!!!
I'm in the middle of a break from IG and FB. At first it was hard, but then I started filling my time up with other things - bible reading, reading in general, guitar and piano practice, babysitting, etc. Those are all things I love, but it was easier to sit and scroll on my phone. Today though I was ready to just give up and let myself go on IG, then I saw this! So encouraging! Thank you Becca! I will be continuing my IG and FB break for a while longer and have a planned formed to limit time on them before I get back on! (Any advice with moderating social media would be helpful...I find it easier to just completely avoid then try to limit, but I know that won't be a long term solution for me)
Thank you! Feeling convicted! I have been telling myself this, but phones are crazy addictive. Once I start looking at it, I almost can't stop. I left all the groups on Facebook, that were not fulfilling, and un-liked certain pages. I noticed that even decent pages have statuses that have could language at times, which I try to avoid! You are such a blessing! 😍
I was having worries about the same thing, especially as someone who grew up with screens around me 24/7, so recently I got rid of my smartphone and switched to a "dumb" phone to cut out a lot of the instinctual media exposure. I'm still working on my computer content, but I thank you so much for the motivation! I will put it into practice!
I’m studying computer science and literally today watched my lecture (for an information security unit) talking about cookies and how they’re used and how they can track you through multiple websites when all those websites use the same third party thing and all that fun stuff haha. Just a cool coincidence and totally agree with the message here
This is so true and something I’ve been working on since I read about how what we watch and listen to affects our godliness. Gonna take a thorough search through my subs and follows on various social media today and get rid of the garbage that I procrastinate with or just waste time which could be spent doing literally anything else worthwhile! Thanks for the advice and encouragement ☺️🙏 x
I totally agree with what you are saying. I always tell my children to be careful what they are looking at or listening to on the internet. We can get so distracted with negative things all around us. We have to really keep our eyes fixed on Jesus and what he has for us to do. Great video in letting people know to be aware of what we are doing everyday, and is it glorifying God or the flesh!!
This is actually something that I have been struggling with a lot lately and this just confirmed what I need to do. Always self doubting myself and comparing myself to others I see on social media isn’t healthy. So I will definitely be purging my instagram tonight ❤️
Looking to Jesus. Our common love. Thank you for sharing your thoughts and convictions and challenging us to be more like Jesus. Changing together on our way to Heaven and enjoying the journey. Take care my sister in the Lord.
ahhh this is such a great message. I've found that as I've grown the yearning to seek God more in prayer and scripture, I have unconsciously sanctified the media I consume. One day I paid attention to what I was liking on Instagram or watching on RUclips and 90% of it was meaningful, pure, intentional messages and content from Christian leaders I look up to. It's like if you really clean your heart and ask God to purify it, it craves GOOD and healthy things that will grow you instead of garbage.
My pastor just preached on this need to hold ourselves to account in regards to what we expose ourselves to, in social media, music, movies, general media etc. Secular culture will always be counter to Christ. Good video!
Amazing video! I found it very encouraging, and it got me to think a lot, about how I should spend my time! I will definitely try my best to spend less time on use-less things and more time on reading my Bible, and praying, and all of those important things! thanks so much for the encouragement! :)
it's like God reminded me to keep away from worthless stuff i've been into that are consuming my time w/o really nurturing me. Legit unsubscribed from "entertainment" channels that dont build me up. And thank you for the boldness to challenge us and speak out truth. God bless you :>
Thanks for the reminder :) i know it's easy for me - especially when I'm tired after a long day or just feeling dejected - to go on youtube and just watch things not neccessarily so bad but just worthless as you said. Blessings :)
I recently talked about one of your videos while discussing the Gospel with a friend. It's one thing being moved by a Christian RUclips video, It's another to talk about it with a friend since It's like talking about an imaginary friend. I resonate a lot with the videos of yours I watched recently. God bless.
You're speaking to what has been on my heart for months. I have become more aware of what I'm listening to and watching. What I focus my time on the most, what might be an Idol in my life. My phone is definitely something I am working towards having as minimal as possible. I have gotten rid of all social media, and right now its RUclips that I can struggle with. In all honesty I can have my Bible open right next to me ready to go and think to myself "well let me just watch one video first' and before I know its it's been 4 hours, I have accomplished nothing, and I'm tired...it really frustrates me. I feel like Paul in Roman's 7: 15-20. Which also provides encouragement that I have the power of the Holy Spirit within me, enabling me to make these changes and turn from these things that are garbage, and focus more on prayer, Bible study, or using my talents to glorify Him in some way, while also still having my "entertainment" if you will. I want what I see, hear, and speak to be pure before God, so that I can be the light the salt I am called to be in His name. I imagine standing before God often, and replaying so many things in my life and how grieved I could be, watching back some of the things I not only watched, heard, or participated in, but on top of that enjoyed!
I've been contemplating on how we as Christian should use the freedom that has been given to us. I believe the question isn't, "Can we do this or that?" but, "Should I do this or that?". I'll share with yall this quote I heard once, "What you do may all be good (not bad), but not necessary." thanks @farawaydistance for sharing your thoughts on cookies with us:)
Hi Becca! I love your videos so much! I saw your Instagram post at the Morton Pumpkin Festival and I only live like 30 minutes away from there! 😂 Anyway, keep up the great work, your advice helps me a lot ❤️
Just deleted my social media apps off my phone, I'm going to try and go a week without them! Back in high school, I didn't have a facebook and I remember feeling so content not being on social media. It's so crazy how much social media has consumed our lives (I'm in the same boat of being on my phone 4-5 hours on a daily basis). I'm hoping to increase my productivity and spend more time with Jesus. Thank you for the encouragement, such wonderful video and inspiring message!
Thank you so much for the video! I try so much to avoid the bad stuff, but it's very hard when my own family isn't christian. They watch worldly tv, listen to worldly music, etc. Any tips for still avoiding these things with family who doesn't even try to? I've been trying to stop listening to secular music especially, I used to listen to bad people, Marilyn Manson, Ozzy Osborne, ACDC, and newer people like Brendon Urie and Billie Eilish. The only music I want to listen to is christian music, true christian music. Thank you for this inspiring video!
amanda lynn i have a friend that is in a similar situation but he’s 18 so he’s legally allowed to not live with his parents and live with people that will encourage him in the Lord. i don’t know how old you are but i just advise you to seek Him first in all things (Matthew 6:33) and listen to Him when he speaks. also, listen to worship music, not just “christian” bc it’s all we’re going to be doing in heaven! be open to correction as well (Psalms 139:23-24 NLT). if He tells you to let go of a certain thing such as an artist you once listened to, do so.
Of course a lot of worldly music/tv/videos are unhelpful and can be thrown out, but just know that not every single thing is and you have the ability/responsibility to make that call of what is and isn't good for your walk with God. :) Living with people who disagree or have different standards is super hard, I'd definitely say pray about it. Some things are totally garbage like she said, and some of it just isn't helpful to you, but some might be. Don't compromise your values, but just because your family is listening to music that isn't worship music doesn't automatically make it bad or you unable to listen to any of it. Idk what sort of music you're talking about so definitely up to your discretion, just maybe show them what it's like to be a Christian, through actions and words. Listen to worship music if you want. But you can also enjoy some modern music. Idk if that made sense 🤷🏼♀️😂
I know you gave some examples, and I personally don't listen to those people either. Billie Eilish is not for me lol. But nonchristian isn't automatically bad.
Awww man , this hit me HARD girl!!!!!💖 thank you so much, there are so many times, especially now, that I hear a message or something and I think “ oh that is so good” and then I do absolutely nothibg to apply that to my life . I’m totally serious though...I’m gonna admit ; I’ve done that with some of your vids even though they are like my inspo for life haha ( but then I beat myself up about it later for not applying it all the time lol 😂) but i LOVE the cookies illustration..I never thought of it that way!!! Thank you for your encouragement; I really want to take this and actually start getting rid of the worthless things in my life. I’ve tried so many times and failed, but I know the Lord can help me if I ask Him and keep trying . And literally ; I was just looking at my phone hours today; and we are like around the same!!🤣4 hr lol Hahahaha love ya girl!! Hope your teaching is going well, if you get a chance could you make a video about how it is going?? 🙌😁
I will take ur challenge, I struggle with my phone with distractions and stuff. And I have already decided to not be on social media for however long God tells me to take 🤷🏼♀️ I’m downloading the app and going to try it as well ☺️❤️
I'm obviously on RUclips right now, but I struggle with accountable viewing habits. But it is so edifying to fast from media at least once a week, or whenever I can.
I love this. This morning in church I felt the Lord lay it on my heart to delete instagram, snapchat and facebook from my phone. I immediately did before I lost the courage to do so. Normally on Sunday's I'll watch TV (normally TV shows with language and crude jokes) but instead I knew I could go to your channel and be filled up with the Lord. This video was just perfect and was the explanation of why the Lord wanted me to delete those apps this morning so thank you thank you!
Great video!! Yeah I totally agree I have had to unfollow quite a few people on Instagram that posted a lot of stuff that I didn't agree with! I'm glad I follow you though I am always excited to see what new video you post!! Keep up the good work!
That's something I've been worrying about lately as well. Sometimes I just get stuck surfing the internet in a rather apathetic way. I could be maybe studying Korean, or programming; even something less productive but at least more stimulating such as watching a nice movie or playing some video game. I'm working on it, but it gets kind of hard. Nowadays we are so bombarded with information so constantly that it becomes exhausting, so finding motivation for more taxing activities like studying, working, or even video games (most of which are problem-solving scenarios of varying complexity) becomes harder. The worst of it all is that which involves social interaction. Not only social networks but also messaging systems and any website with user interaction such as forums, Reddit, etc. There's this instinctive pull to stay alert and not get set behind. Those are the ones I'm having the most trouble cutting down. PS: Heck the beeping alarm clocks. With time one starts developing kind of a pavlovian response to it. It's annoying.
Becca- Thank you for your honesty on this issue. I'm currently pursuing my masters degree in Cybersecurity and indeed Cookies are a dangerous thing. Every major browser (that you utilize) saves a small file on your computer's hard drive to cache credentials and target ads. Your second point about our consumption of "content" is worthy of a video in and of itself. Content does not indicate quality, only quantity. I too am guilty of getting sucked into the vortex that is youtube and spending hours on nothingness. I personally have found having men in my life to hold me accountable to the amount of time I spend on my phone to be a great help.
wow this is really what I needed!! I’m definitely going to try to reflect on this and change what needs to be changed. so, so helpful and truthful🙌💓 also that app sounds amazing!
Becca snapped... I’m jk THANK YOU FOR THIS VIDEO it’s so true and if we walk away without doing anything it’s just like James said “Anyone who listens to the word but does not do what it says is like someone who looks at his face in a mirror and, after looking at himself, goes away and immediately forgets what he looks like.” James 1:23-24 We need to “be hearers and doers of the Word”
I don't have an Iphone, but the bible app looks really cool. I should purge some of the RUclips Content Creators that I follow because not all of it is really meaningful information and I (too) watch too many hours of silly meme videos. I've been trying to get into the bible more each day and memorize specific verses that bring me strength. Thanks for posting!
I want to say that I’m going to do this. I feel the conviction and desire to spend my time on more valuable things, on connection with God. But I don’t know that I will. And I hate that, but i -will- try and will try to surrender to and lean on the Holy Spirit for his grace. I have yet to resist to the point of shedding blood
After this I feel like going through all of my subscriptions on RUclips and unsubscribing to all the ones that are worthless! Thanks for the great video!
Interesting analogy with computers-As a computer science student, I appreciated that 😄 the term “Garbage in, garbage out” actually originated from computer programming. Thank you for this reminder and challenge!
@ChristinaD. There is a really good app out there called YourHour. It shows you how much time you spend on different apps, and you can get it on Android!
*Honestly,* this is a really good Idea and I did delete some apps and I will be spending more of my time on worth while things. Thank you for introducing this challenge to me.

This is nice. Now expand on why so many preaches , pastors , bishops , reverends and the rest blatantly lie about tithing , it being money and that it still applies to believers today.
As a comp sci major I appreciate the analogy lol. Definitely a lesson I am still learning in my life. I’m not wasting as much time as before, but I still have a long way to go.

Becca, you are very positive and very encouraging. Keep making these amazing videos!
Becca THANK YOU for making these videos. The lord is certainly using you in a good way here. You Are influencing alot of people. Much love from me.
MY FAVORITE RUclips IS GONNA CHANGE THE WORLD WITH HER CHANNEL!! Note: that’s you Becca😉❤️😘

I really needed this, Thank you Becca ❤️
I always think of that verse in psalm 119 whenever I think about how much time I’ve wasted on my phone too!
ahhh this is such a great message.
Wow. Seriously SO convicting 🙌💛
Lol I have been thinking of buying Converse! Thank you for making this video! ❤️
This is a lesson I have been learning for quite some time now, and this was a little boost to remember that, so thank you 🥰
it's like God reminded me to keep away from worthless stuff i've been into that are consuming my time w/o really nurturing me. Legit unsubscribed from "entertainment" channels that dont build me up. And thank you for the boldness to challenge us and speak out truth. God bless you :>
I’m going to try and actually take this up!!! I really needed to hear this. I really appreciate all that you do!
This is a timely and good message, Becca. This will be my last RUclips video for the night! Thanks for the encouragement to use my time well.
This was super convicting !! Thank you love !
wow I just opened RUclips and I did think about it for a minute and thanks God I opened your video!!!!!
Amen Sister! Wise words
Thanks for the reminder :) i know it's easy for me - especially when I'm tired after a long day or just feeling dejected - to go on youtube and just watch things not neccessarily so bad but just worthless as you said. Blessings :)
Amen! 🙏 I struggled so much with spending my time with worthless things, especially on the internet. This message spoke to me, thank you! 🙏
I recently talked about one of your videos while discussing the Gospel with a friend. It's one thing being moved by a Christian RUclips video, It's another to talk about it with a friend since It's like talking about an imaginary friend. I resonate a lot with the videos of yours I watched recently. God bless.
As someone who works in the tech field, the explanation about cookies is accurate. I appreciate this self-reflective and practical video.
The closer we get to God, the more we realize what we're putting in our minds. Thanks for the reminder!
Good earthly story with a heavenly meaning!
Hi Becca! I love your videos so much! I saw your Instagram post at the Morton Pumpkin Festival and I only live like 30 minutes away from there! 😂 Anyway, keep up the great work, your advice helps me a lot ❤️
I saw your comment omg!!!
@@thomaslargent4700 yeah....Alana Naomi is my fake name and the name that Instagram comment was under is my real name....lol
Woah, i was just barley thinking about this a minute ago and then clicked on this video! I’m going to take on this challenge💗
I've never heard your accent so strongly as I did in this video. 😂😮
Michael David Wood - Wolf & Cross gaming what accent? 😅
@@melanyanguilar5620 lol, that mid-western accent 😂😂 is it strong with this one... If your from the Midwest you might not hear it though :(
Michael David Wood - Wolf & Cross gaming oh I thought that was just the way her voice was?🧐 I’m from California btw:)
@@melanyanguilar5620 nice! I'm from Arizona!
The way I rushed to download the app😭 thank you!
The in dislike is the devil ...who could dislike such a pure Christian helping many people
That's something I've been worrying about lately as well.
IM SO EXCITED FOR THIS OMG. LOVE YOU!! THANK YOU FOR RESPONDING TO MY INSTAGRAM COMMENT!!
Thanks for the thought provoking video
Wait first of all, I didnt know what ur title meant thats why i clicked and im glad i clicked it this is actually important
wow this is really what I needed!! I’m definitely going to try to reflect on this and change what needs to be changed. so, so helpful and truthful🙌💓 also that app sounds amazing!
Becca snapped...
I’m jk THANK YOU FOR THIS VIDEO
it’s so true and if we walk away without doing anything it’s just like James said “Anyone who listens to the word but does not do what it says is like someone who looks at his face in a mirror and, after looking at himself, goes away and immediately forgets what he looks like.”
James 1:23-24
We need to “be hearers and doers of the Word”
Becca! Have you heard of the documentary the American Gospel?
Thank you for this video! Bless you. ❤
Wow this is amazing! I really needed this.
Accepting the challenge! I’m starting by cutting out social media on Sunday’s! :) love you videos!
Hey there! I just watched this video, and literally unsubscribed from 55 channels. Thank you for this!!!
Thank you for this. Cutting straight to the soul, I like it! Will definitely have to do this. Thx
love the boldness! thank you for the challenge ❤️
Thank you for this reminder and challenge!
just literally made a video similar to this on my channel and this was the recommendation video. (it’s the cookies) 😂
but seriously this is good
Going a wee with out instagram! This is sad but could some one please pray for me and that I maintain this goal because I think I need it...
I wish the app was available for Androids as well!
But thank you for talking about this subject and just always being so positive, Becca. ❤❤👏
@ChristinaD. There is a really good app out there called YourHour. It shows you how much time you spend on different apps, and you can get it on Android!
@@joyfonte335 thank you for letting me know! I'll check it out ❤
*Honestly,* this is a really good Idea and I did delete some apps and I will be spending more of my time on worth while things. Thank you for introducing this challenge to me.
This is nice. Now expand on why so many preaches , pastors , bishops , reverends and the rest blatantly lie about tithing , it being money and that it still applies to believers today.
love love love your So Will I card & polaroid in the back
GOD BLESS YOU
wow a sponsor that I am happy to hear about!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I agree with what you said so much❤
AMEN!!!🙌🏼🙌🏼 Turn our eyes to Jesus. He is more entertaining anyway. Lol. Thanks for the challenge!!👊😁
