Faradion a company which is working on this technology is making incredible progress. With the total production price 1/6 of the lithium battery. They are producing these batteries to countries like Australia already. This technology is here with us right this moment. 😍
Fantastic Topic. I think it will take few more years (2 to 4 years) to commercialize the Sodium Ion batteries especially in India, until then we must use the new generation LFP battery instead of the Lithium ternary battery.
Raphae is a researcher. Very detailed information. I'm waiting desperately for these batteries. See, the life cycle ... mind-blowing. The safety part is also a winning point. Thanks Raphae.
Raphae is very excited to share about the new battery chemistry. Yes these are very futuristic and may really help in transforming the mobility and electricity problem in india. The battery by natro energy is great i will love to see a Tesla wall like solution connected to solar panel it will help us build electric solutions for generations
There is huge difference to the Fardion's approach and CATL's approach. The CATL's batteries doesn't use the rare elements as cathodes where as the Faradion's batteries still use nickel (only cobalt is not used compared to Li-ion batteries) which makes CATL better is making cheaper batteries compared to Faradion. But then there is this, CATL has less Volumetric density compared to Faradion. I'm very much looking forward for both the techs though 🔥
Another exciting one which may bring a revolution is alluminium ion by graphene manufacturing group but still looks atleast 5yrs away from large scale production
Reliance has invested in 3 battery companies. 1. Faradion - Na ion - Aquired 2. Ambri- Liquid Metal battery- Investment 3. Lithium Works- Lithium Phosphate- Aquired So they are not betting on just one. It's farely balanced and calculated bet. And remember they are into Grid Scale energy storage, not in EV battery space. So weight of the system doesn't matter much. I am much more bullish about Ambri Battery which Works on Liquid Metal battery technology based on Calcium and Antimony.
Good video. I think the idea of using the same battery outer shell to host Na+ cells vs Li+ cells with a BMS update should be the thing Indian car and 2-wheeler makers must look at. That will bring down the EV cost monumentally in India and drive the economy without the burden of importing li+ cells from China. Also current EV users don’t have to worry about battery replacement cost while buying an EV anymore.
Brilliant video! Very well explained. Your enthusiasm and knowledge of the subject are quite evident. Looking forward to more of your videos. :) Cheers!
Hey, great video. Good details and clear explanation. But only thing I think this video needs is a better sound. The sound is muffled, and there is tearing at the highs. You should get a better quality microphone and add some better sound absorption so you won't get reverb. You can achieve this with some curtains.
Please also make a video on the Al-Air battery. This tech can help as a range extender or generator for remote places where we do not have a stable grid to charge EVs.
I think energy capacity of NA battery pack will be comparable to Li battery pack if we keep the weight constant. This is because, Li ion battery needs extra packing materials, insulation and complexity than NA batteries as they are highly inflammable than NA batteries.
Feasibility study is still going and will take more time. For the time being the LFP battery would be the real alternate. Government of India must make easy and speed up the our own EV battery manufacturing process as it's already too late.
Aluminium battery requires you to add Aluminium part that gets eaten away once battery is used. It can't be simply recharged like other batteries. It will last longer but you need to replace the Aluminium part of the battery after every full discharge. So it is not as easy as current systems. And a lot of work is still pending to make it work in the real world.
@@evthink Exactly well said. Aluminium Air Battery concept is entirely different than the conventional Li-Ion battery also need a entirely different infrastructure and eco system.
1. *Right now Lithium is not expensive* ... The only problem is of them catching fire... SOMETIMES. 2. Li-Ion & Li-phosphate batteries will become more cheaper in future. 3. Sodium batteries will make EVs more cheaper AND more affordable than petrol vehicles. 4. *Sodium batteries will NOT replace portable battery systems* and the 5. *World is NOT EXACTLY GAGGING for Sodium batteries* ... But world will be a better place... WHENEVER sodium batteries becomes available.
It will take at least 5-8 years for sodium ion batteries to be a reality. Its energy density is much less that lithium battery. Even its current manufacturer CATL is planning to ise it only by mixing it with lithium battery c and then having a dedicated battery management system to handle 2 types of cells together. Standalone use of sodium ion batteries will take many more years to be a viable reality
what do you think about Liquid Metal Battery (capacity is from megawatt to terawatt with low cost ) for renewable stationary storage and grid stabilization storage. For small household storage sodium-ion / lithium-ion phosphate / zinc-bromide (flow and jelly type) etc. are good.
Agar battery ka price kam kar di jaye to sare ke sare ev chalayenge dekhna petrol pump wale aise dekhte intezar karte reh jayenge petrol pump pe sukha pad jayega sochna chahiye iske bareme
With Reliance entering the EV battery market, soon we may see changes in rules to enable a monopoly for Reliance's battery business just like it was done for Reliance Jio. Ultimately, customers may be forced to consume whatever Reliance would churn out.
Could anyone please clarify which type of battery used in Tata Nexon EV whether it's cobalt rich high energy density NMC battery or cobalt free LFP battery. In my knowledge it's a NMC family Lithium Polymer battery (Li-PO) only. Because of some people are blindly claiming that it's used LFP battery. Please comment. Thank you.
Is it possible to construct Sodium ion solid state batteries? Because the gel style batteries dont have enough gravimetric density. Also be careful of these big companies and their promises. It is easy to say these but its another matter to deliver the product to the customer.
bt wht abt battery weight ???? if we consider same energy density batteries dnt you thnk so sodium ion batteries ll be much heavier than Li ion batteries ??? cz Lithium atomic weight is 7 U and sodium is almost 23 U evn Li is the most electropositive atom in the entire periodic table .
this is where indian youtubers lacking... Faradion company's Sodium ion battery technology used nickel which is again Rare . but CATL battery uses pure Sodium
Pluginindia podcast sounds like "...make electric cars I don"t care if u run out of buisness, ask all ur manufacturing unit to make evs, make evs because I want it". stupid 😏
dun mean to sound like a wet blanket, but it seems every week we have news of a "revolutionary" alternative to lithium-ion batteries, and nothing actually makes it to market...
Hydrogen extracted from thin air could be the holy grail of renewable fuel sources. How to incorporate that in a moving car in the form of a battery is the challenge now, coz hydrogen fuel cars are already a reality.

Crisp and detail

Really great. New technology for ev. But all are taking so much time to come to market
Sodium ion batteries are larger for the range but you don't need the extra battery heat management which takes up weight, space and expense.

Yes, I think we should have hybrid cars with Li/NA Battery (rechargeable 70-100km range) and Al battery (non rechargeable 500-1000km range).
Expecting new range of EVs from Reliance in the future.. Mukesh Ambani new Elon Musk of the world..Thats gonna happen
This sounds really Great 👍👌😄
Amazinng !!!
Excellent video

What about aluminium air battery?? And what about nano diamond battery tech..
A mixture of sodium batteries together with lithium batteries will be used in ev's and maybe together with super capacitor
Awesome

Tvs iqube has lfp or nmc battery? Why they not mentioned it in there scooter specification ?

Isn't pure sodium highly combustible if it comes in contact with water/moisture? How do they address it?
By keeping it in a oil

Reliance will buy and bury the startup. Can't really trust an oil company to do good on EV battery technology company purchase.
