Wan Chai (Chinese: 灣仔) is a metropolitan area situated at the western part of the Wan Chai District on the northern shore of Hong Kong Island, in Hong Kong. Its other boundaries are Canal Road to the east, Arsenal Street to the west and Bowen Road to the south. The area north of Gloucester Road is often referred to as Wan Chai North.
Wan Chai is one of the busiest commercial areas in Hong Kong with offices of many small and medium-sized companies. Wan Chai North features office towers, parks, hotels and an international conference and exhibition centre. As one of the first areas developed in Hong Kong, the locale is densely populated yet with noticeable residential zones facing urban decay. Arousing considerable public concern, the government has undertaken several urban renewal projects in recent years. There are various landmarks and skyscrapers within the area, most notably the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre (HKCEC), Central Plaza and Hopewell Centre.

Five Guys is junk in America. They serve shit.
I only saw one guy wearing a whole suit with tie. He looks like living far back to the 70s and 80s that suit is daily causal wear. Look around, seems like nobody wear dress pants and dressy shoes, either.
Before I left for America in the early 90s, people were a lot more dressed up.

I would have been devastated by the way it looks today.
What a truly claustrophobic and soulless place.
I watched "The World of Suzie Wong" (a film from 1960) a few years back.
The Hong Kong back then had atmosphere, warmth and charm.
It has been totally destroyed in character by concrete and skyscrapers.
It's nothing less than cultural and architectural vandalism.
Disgusting.
It makes New York look like Florence or Paris by comparison.
Thanks for your long reply. I think each to their own. Each person has in their mind, what a perfect place is. For some its skyscrapers city life, for others its countryside, and some enjoy the old baroque historical architecture style. Can be a tad claustrophobic especially the densely packed poorer areas, that I agree, but not soulless. A city like this one, will always be changing, with new developments, new buildings, infrastructure and so on, or else it will be stuck in time, like some countries in certain parts of the world, with dilapidated buildings, crumbling infrastructure and stuck in the 70s. Nonetheless, some cities can make it work, with that timeless feel and its unique history.
Skyscrapers reflects the financial success of a city which might be a better way of looking at it...
