Eye in the Sky If you're referring to the E3 in the year that this video was uploaded. You are correct. If you're referring to the E3 I'm referring to relative to the time stamp on this comment wayyyyyy up there, ^ It had it's reveal trailer pre E3, but it had minor details about when it'd be set in that trailer. the ACTUAL gameplay reveal, did happen at E3.
I have reached the point where I have accepted listening to the series as a podcast. I haven't listened to any of these episodes in 10 years lol well at that point since each of them came out
I'm just thrilled that there's more Yahtzee & Gabe anything. They could podcast Yahtzee and Gabe preparing their taxes and their banter would make it interesting.
It's a good thing that this game has intuitive level design, because Yahtzee has the memory and attention span of a lobotomized goldfish: *While looking at a door at the end of a path that he has not gone up yet* "I don't know where to go! I'm los-" *Enters door* "Oh."
Gabe seems like an awesome guy, and I wish Yahtzee would let him talk about his stuff instead of shutting him down, because that stuff is legitimately interesting.
Considering that the Internet connections in Australia are worse than in the USA, and Gabe is probably still teaching, he may be too busy to schedule a decent time for both to drop nonsense and play games. Plus it wouldn't be the same without both of them being in the room together.
Gabe talks for a while about self-harm and people that try to white knight for those that are suffering, and being another person who's had a brief touch with self-harm, I completely agree with his take on it. I actively laughed at the joke he made in a previous video and had no negative feelings about it, although I'm sure someone could have. As someone with "triggers", being set off is an inevitable part of life; people cannot hope to censor themselves enough to prevent everyone's pain while saying anything worth saying. Context is important when considering whether or not a comment is insensitive, but we can't simply restrict ourselves to not talking about sensitive topics by in fear of a worst case scenario. That sort of logic creates a culture of fear in where people cannot bring themselves to talk about things that need to be talked about more instead of less. I think self-harm is one of those topics.
I get bored with a 30 second trailer but I can easily watch an hour of two smart, funny, open, real people having a chat and tearing apart a game from my childhood. Thanks guys, keep it up.

1:00:53 Well, the real problem is that most people aren't familiar with logical fallacies in general, let alone _ad hominem_ fallacies. It's commendable that Gabe tries to work around it, I'd just like to believe that somehow we can better educate people about proper logical and critical thinking skills so that people can actually discuss and learn things.
As someone who has suffered depression and only recently gained control of my life, I found Gabe's touching of his own life very interesting. I think he'd be a very interesting person to talk to.
It is always great to hear Yahzee and Gabriel talk. I honestly could listen to a weekly podcast by these two. It was fun seeing Quake 2 again, though I hope they don't completely abandon their old format of taking very very obscure adventure games and voicing over the playthrough. I found that refreshing over live-playthroughs
First of all, I dig this idea for a series. You guys have a good chemistry between you that makes it pleasant to listen to, even if it's just vaguely tied to a game or a topic. Secondly, Gabe's story about his depression, suffering from triggers and self-harm was genuinely interesting and moving to hear about and I was grateful that you'd share it even in a medium where it might not be that well-received. Good on you and I'm glad stuff seems to have worked out well for you!
12:42 I was still a younger man when I watched this. I have always been glad I did. This part of this series saved me a hand full of dollars. After watching this part I have never given any money to the "save the X" scams. Thank you Gabriel and Yahtzee.
Damn, you guys get deep sometimes in these. I just throw em on as I play a game or whatnot and have a listen, and I really enjoy em. Good on you two, making this entertaining and neat-o commentary.
I've been replaying Quake 2 lately due to the recent 25th anniversary, and the moment I discovered I could play it using the expansions AI update the game got ten times better. The Strogg go from walking targets to an actual opposition. I also wish Yahtzee made more of these videos, I miss Let's Drown Out...
If I had to guess, it's probably because both have very different styles in doing their videos. While TB prefers to improvise and go along, Yahtzee likes to stick to a script and know exactly what he wants to say. Their preference of games also seem to differ too. I think Yahtzee prefers games with more context and complexity while TB doesn't care as long as it's fun. Unless the TB already did a review for Quake 2, I'd imagine him enjoying this game a lot because it's old school and simple.
That argument was brilliant. "I could build my own computer, and it would be cheaper, just like venison if I went out, hunted it, butchered it, cured it and then cooked it."
Wow, new video already? And over an hour long! Thanks for all the great content guys, i was missing the podcasts, but loved the lets plays, this seems like a cool in between.
the graphics on the ps3 and 360 most certainly have been maxed, they keep having to lower the frame rate. The thing is people don't get that the gameplay has been effected by these machines and that has translated to hindered pc development too. It has enforced the need for linear games with limited gameplay mechanics because the consoles simply didn't have the resources to handle everything. A great example would be to look at stuff like noman's sky, everquest next, star citizen as games that are pushing the envelope a bit. Before commenting on what this generation will bring, wait for the developers to get up to speed and actually start to take advantage of their hardware. Not saying that the consoles have amazing hardware, because they don't. But the shift was needed for games to start moving past the same gameplay + graphics formula. 18:42 Yahtzee's "It finally happened" is so relatable. When I played Q2 for the first time, I took note of how this enemy can damage the player even after death, and ever since that I kept waiting for the day when it manages to kill me. It's something that sits in the head and doesn't go away.

Also interesting point about the steak knives and hatred inside depression... would love to hear the definition of "hatred" but a general perspective definitely coo-berates the insecurities of disassociation
Frederick Luebker I only had the demo. Just the first level. Played it so many times... And when I asked for Quake 2, my Mother got me Quake 3 (Yay!), but it wouldn't run on my PC (Booo!) Back to the demo.
Frederick Luebker N64 wasn't that bad. Trigger on the bottom. Control stick. GoldenEye did alright. I'd happily take the N64 controller over ANY PlayStation controller ever.
Was a bit unexpected with the whole depression and anxiety talk, but I'm glad it was brought up. I struggle a lot with both myself and I feel extremely lonely dealing with it, but hearing all this really motivates me and made me smile. Thanks Yathzee and Gabe
Oda Swifteye To be fair, being well known on the internet has more drawbacks than benefits. Take, for example, the premise of this video: to commentate on a very boring game from years and years ago. By all rights, Quake 2 should have been forgotten with the other dregs of the 90's era of videogames... but because of Wikipedia, it will remain in the "cultural memory" for all time. Whereas Yahtzee's friend is concerned, anyone who "makes it" on the internet stage will likewise never be entirely forgotten: their videos, comments, and products will be saved on *someone's* server decades from now. There is also the mildly disturbing fact that, unless it is specifically written into a ToS, *everything* on the internet is open source and liable to be bought and sold, including a person's personal info. Social media websites, like Facebook, make their business off of doing just that.
@@JobroskiSwaqqman And he does a lot of interesting writing with incredible anecdotes from his past on their website keepetclassy.com, it's definitely worth a read
I'm young and don't know a lot, but I think that Gabe had some important things to say and maybe that's because I'm naive and he sounded like he knew what he was talking about. I think that I'm going to study human social and emotional behavior in college. Thanks Babe, I've been trying to figure out what I want to do.
Awesome video! I really like the idea of your new series (though it really is just what your always doing anyways. Not that I am complaining) Had a lot of really interesting topics and great discussion.
It's kind of weird going back and rewatching this so much later, hearing them talking about fake Fallout 4 teasers, while I am currently playing Fallout 4... It's kind of a surreal feeling, like looking back into a time capsule...
This was the best one I've watched so far. I used to think Gabe was getting pretentious (to the point that it bothered me) but I understand where he's coming from a bit more now.
D-Zer0: These videos that you and Gabe do Yahtzee, have been some of the best things I've been listening to for a while. I really do hope to see more of these videos. I know that your a busy man so i can wait. Sadly I don't know of too many boring games i could recommend you guys could play while you mess around, I wasn't that much of a PC gamer growing up. But, I'm sure that whatever you choose will provide lots of great material. Keep up the fantastic work Yahtzee, both here and on Zero Punctuation~
@51:55 Goddamnit, THANK YOU GABRIEL. I've been saying that for a long time, and almost nobody else seems to get it. That the one thing humans seem to be most afraid of, even more than death, is the loss of that illusion that somebody, anybody... even if they must be a villain... is behind the wheel guiding all of the seemingly random events of our lives. At best we have limited semi-control, at certain times and in certain situations, of events we are typically only dimly aware of. And yes, once you understand and come to terms with the reality of the situation, it can be an extremely liberating sensation.
I have such kinship with you, Gabriel. Except what you've arrived at in life through sheer suffering and perseverance, I've achieved through apathy alone. Yaaaaaay
Jesus, Fuck. I thought that Gabe was like... 20-21. Not 30. That's nuts. He even kinda has that voice that would suggest he was 18ish. I was just giving him the benefit of the doubt that he was older, because he's hangin' out with old man monopoly.
Wow, just them playing something like Quake and talking about society's social and psychological problems... You two gentlemen, have just restored a bit of faith in humanity in me... Who says game aren't a sort of art...

Scott Gregson I had it on PC and N64. Looking back I don't know how the hell I played an FPS with an N64 controller.
Frederick Luebker N64 wasn't that bad. Trigger on the bottom. Control stick. GoldenEye did alright. I'd happily take the N64 controller over ANY PlayStation controller ever.
Frederick Luebker I dunno, Goldeneye was pretty damn near perfect with the n64 controller. Just felt right.
Was a bit unexpected with the whole depression and anxiety talk, but I'm glad it was brought up. I struggle a lot with both myself and I feel extremely lonely dealing with it, but hearing all this really motivates me and made me smile.
Thanks Yathzee and Gabe
Does Gabriel have a channel where he talks about more of this stuff? I really liked his way of thinking.
He doesn't. He seems really adverse to being on the Internet. It's only through Yathzee's powers that we get to know of him at all.
Farscryer0 Those are a series of good reasons.
He is on a channel called keepetclassy
@@JobroskiSwaqqman And he does a lot of interesting writing with incredible anecdotes from his past on their website keepetclassy.com, it's definitely worth a read
I thoroughly enjoy this format! Please continue with it!
I'm young and don't know a lot, but I think that Gabe had some important things to say and maybe that's because I'm naive and he sounded like he knew what he was talking about. I think that I'm going to study human social and emotional behavior in college.
Thanks Babe, I've been trying to figure out what I want to do.
*edit Gave not babe. Stupid Kindle.
RainbowWolfJustice hey now it still works
i'm sure gabe appreciated the pet name.
but yeah you should totally do that for college. we need more calm levelheaded people like you.
you like him since you found out he was or used to be a fucked up emo kid. go back to tumblr, college aint for you.
You are an emotional and immature kid with pony issues who is planning to make a mistake in his life. Good luck!
Really interesting and relaxing watch.Would love to watch some more of this!
New game+ this series again
Awesome video! I really like the idea of your new series (though it really is just what your always doing anyways. Not that I am complaining) Had a lot of really interesting topics and great discussion.
Are you playing on low graphics or something? Your Quake 2 looks even more shit than mine.
Very possible given Yahtzee's acknowledged computer issues later in the series & that he's running this and the record on the same machine.
@@BladeV8 Its funny how he shit talked people about his Alienware and then it started giving him the shits.
@@Web720 as they do 😂
I wasn't expecting a philosophical discussion on top of a Quake 2 let's play. I was pleasantly surprised, actually.
It's kind of weird going back and rewatching this so much later, hearing them talking about fake Fallout 4 teasers, while I am currently playing Fallout 4... It's kind of a surreal feeling, like looking back into a time capsule...
They also talk about the Mana-bar that Yahtzee was part-owner of that has since shut up shop, Yahtzee mentioned it during their Half-Life playthrough.
This was the best one I've watched so far. I used to think Gabe was getting pretentious (to the point that it bothered me) but I understand where he's coming from a bit more now.
Please play anything by Peter Molyneux!
I like these. A lot.
Seconded. Please make more!
@51:55
Goddamnit, THANK YOU GABRIEL.
Yaaaaaay
These videos are really cool! You guys are so candid and human that it's hard to convince myself that you're not actually my friends.
Jesus, Fuck. I thought that Gabe was like... 20-21. Not 30. That's nuts. He even kinda has that voice that would suggest he was 18ish. I was just giving him the benefit of the doubt that he was older, because he's hangin' out with old man monopoly.
Le ex dee
My God, Gabe just drones on and on and on and on.
Play Medal of Honor 2010
I second that motion :)
I third that... or warfighter... we know he has that
water2770
I second the warfighter option, I'd like to see him joke about the name again.
Sausagesaucey i third that
sam sari fourth ... and the whole third reich
Loved it, Gabe's comments on depression are rather resonant with me at the moment. This series should continue. XD
I'd like to see more of this :)
Play I have no mouth and I must scream, it is good fuel for a lot of jokes and fits the point and clicks you guys do
Wow, just them playing something like Quake and talking about society's social and psychological problems... You two gentlemen, have just restored a bit of faith in humanity in me... Who says game aren't a sort of art...
And on a ZP note, 'The Brisbane Ripper/The Editor'... Lol, so that's where the whole "press X not to die..." Covered in blood had came from....
13:45 - "Fifty quid for three hours?"
14:21 - "Look at the fucking nonce-whisperer over here!"
This is when I knew I needed Let's Drown Out in my life
Let's Drown Out... Unreal tournament Yahtzee vs. Gabe.
I concur, that would be boring!
k shaw Yeah, Like the Mario Kart one. it takes 4chan and purify it's essence into a baby bottle!
This is my 3rd time watching this. Please keep these going Yahtzee. You and Gabe are awesome.
