This is great. All the pros are promoting their sponsors brand that the weekend warriors aren't sure what to use. This series really helps put the equipment in a real perspective. Thanks
Yeah man, more of this please! Even if you constructed other tests for hooks I'd watch a whole notha video testing hooks. Definitely gonna check out your other videos
Crazy that the gamakatsu broke like that. I've never had one do that and I've fished with them for striped bass for years. The hooks that snap are made of a harder steel and probably set better but the other ones are bad ass because they never completely fail.
Really interesting and entertaining video. The results were about what I was expecting. I like the ways you come up with to test things. Keep up the good work man. 👍👍
I just bought some Owner Haymakers and am goin to be using them from now on. I agree with you on the bend and break part, no largemouth or smallmouth are gonna break a hook like the owner, but they will definitely bend the other hooks! Great video!
I always thought mustad hooks felt dull... and I remember always checking out hooks still in the package at bass pro and seeing bent tips(same with trokar) on unopened mustad hooks lol. Never understood why anyone would buy them after that.
I think the bend test would've been better to tie on some 85lb braid from the hook to somewhere high and have the weight pulling straight down like if you were snagged
i would rather have the hook bend than break. even with a little of the curve left in the hook, the fish can still be held. but if it breaks, there's nothing. i would like to see this test done differently. suspend the hooks vertically. that would be more like what happens when fishing. the pressure would be in line with the shank, instead of perpendicular .
I’ve never had me owner hook break. I have a hooked on a tree and it actually bent. I feel like his bend test was off because when you hook a fish the hook doesn’t bend in the middle. You would actually have to hook it into a tree . Pull from the eye side. Therefore the test he preformed was invalid.
Any more l use owners them and gamakatsu’s come sharp right out of the pack but I have broken the gamakatsu’s removing them with pliers and that’s why I don’t use them anymore!! However I can make any hook sticky sharp with my EZE-LAP Diamond Sharpener it’s a knife sharping steel there not round more of a flat steel works awesome!!
This is awesome stuff! I saw the line tests you did, i think it would be interesting to do the same tests but with copolymer lines, ex Pline flouroclear, yozuri hybrid, and few others in the market.
I came looking for this video, or one like it, it is a great video but I am disappointed that the bucket test was performed at that angle... why not tie the hook to some really strong line, then suspend a bucket from it.. doing it the way you did it produced a really unnatural angle on the hook and one that would never happen in real life. Close to being a really good video, but not quite. Also, the corrosion test needed more time and patience.

Thanks for watching
This guy right here will be famous one day. There is literally not one other fisherman doing things like this. Awesome dude!!!
Thank you
Keep these test videos coming!!!! Most informative fishing gear review video on RUclips.
Thank you 🙏🏼
The results of your card penetration test really show precision in your methodology. Nice job man!
Appreciate that. The corrosion test was from your suggestion but didn’t work out how I wanted

I appreciate that! Ton of work doing these videos so it’s nice to hear people enjoy them
So much fun to watch! I love these videos! Thanks for sharing!
Thanks for watching.
Outstanding info. As a tackle geek, I love this stuff and find it super useful. Keep them coming.
I appreciate that. Thanks
Solid video dude, this series has gotta be my favorite on the channel, really interesting stuff
Thanks Joe! Appreciate the consult as always 💪🏽💪🏽🤙🏼
This is like Project Farm for fishing . . . cool!!!!
Thanks !

Right, exactly what you said. Harder steel, sharper edge, less flexibility. Softer steel, softer edge, more flexibility
Really interesting and entertaining video. The results were about what I was expecting.

Yeah it seems the more brittle hooks are sharper
Thanks for watching

Recently discovered this channel and this man produces some really good content
I appreciate that
This was a very cool experiment nice work

Good idea, thanks
That would be a more valid test.
I use owner and mustard more than anything
Please test Solid ring and split ring of these brands 😁

Good point

I always like mustad
Lazer Heavy wire EWG number 5 . Put it up against any hook and it’s the only hooks still made in America .
You should try sand instead of water. Good info though!
I won't use anything Berkley Fusion, I've had way to many fish throw the hook on jumps. Gamagatsu used to be good but the quality has gone down hill.
Owner rule.... Sharpness is the most important aspect of Bass hook

Well I appreciate the feedback. Lot of work making these videos
