OMFG we're playing this in senior high band this year! It's so hard and I'm on piccolo for it, we're gonna suck so bad........but if we play it right it'll sound GREAT!!!!!! Wish me luck!!

Hello, just want to say you that i'm in secondary 5, in Quebec and i'm 16 years old and we just got persis monday and we are 50 in my bands and i play oboe. so just want to tell you that's very possible to play this in middle school, but you need to pratice a lot and that's very loud to play. :)

We're playing this piece for my Wind Ensemble at high school. State Quals here we come! I'm on 1st clarinet for it and it's so much fun but it's so hard! As my friend put, it's like shooting yourself in the head with a bejeweled gun. =P
To matthew: Well，1 french horn is not enough.2 to 3 is a minimum as several parts of the music is quite demanding for a french horn player ，like the soli part with alto sax at 5:20:) I think 4 would be better:)
Unfortunately, I would not recommend this piece for middle school. Some of the better middle schools in the country (like Pearl Highlands here in Hawaii) may be able to play the piece with some success but for the most part, middle school bands do not have the size nor ability to play this song well. Although Persis is graded at a 4, the amount of brass needed and the range of the song would limit even the number of high schools able to play it.

We played this pretty well with a 30 man band. Nothing's not possible... It may also be due to our band having an excessively loud sound. LOL

Yeah he's right. I play Tuba in high school band and all the low G's in the faster parts make my embouchure hurt after a while.
