For all those playing Persis in school, this song will probably stick with you for a long time. It was definitely the best song I played in band, and ten years on and I still listen to it!
I legit practised with my tuba to this exact video in 2008 because it was the same key as the sheet music I had and I’ve come back every now and then ever since
I spent half a year in Australia from this January to July and played this piece in the school band but sadly, I had to leave before the band played it in concert :/
I love this piece. Especially the oboe and french horn duet in the middle. Love the clarinets doing eights during that part too. Makes a great harmony, kind of sad, but really preeeetty.
I played this back in highschool and our conducter for the festival i was at was actually the composer Mr. James L. Hoosay himself. It was amazing and he even complimented my 3 piece suit and said those should make a come back. This song has a special place in my heart.
I plat Tenor Sax on this, and this piece has excellent harmony. I recently found the story behind the music. A young man is warped through time iinto ancient Persia. He happens to become entranced with a beautiful noble maiden, the maiden saying she recognized him, as if from another place in time. The man went into her (he's forbidden) castle, and when the guards found out, they chased after him. He then races away, mourning over what could have been, and is sucked back to his time. =D
Beautiful this song, the oboe player is fantastic and the french horn players are too . I play this music too in my band . My instrument(french horn) it can be heard in 3:45
I miss playing this song. I either would played the 1st clarinet or 2nd clarinet part pending the day. The horn parts are the best. However the runs at the end are murder (especially for the winds). This ended up being one of our favorite songs to play in band.
I sightread this song last year and just happened to remember the name of the song. I was curious to hear how the whole song was supposed to go so I listened to it and absolutely fell in love with the song. It's so beautiful!
lmao just a ton of practice, start slow and slowly build your speed up.. the runs at 6:17 and at the end of the piece were on my final playing exam in high school and i remember practicing so much for that but it payed off cuz i got a 98 :) Good luck!
I played this on flute my freshman year of band, and sometimes I get the urge to just listen to it again and it brings back so many memories of my band practicing this I love it
I love this song so much.😂 I'm playing bells kinda easy part but I'm doubling with Xlo. I'm gonna go on competition on tomorrow. BUT I STILL CANNOT FINISH IT
I played this in the anual all-county festival with like seniors. It was ausome!!! This was our favorite song!! But indeed, the runs are super hard. Hehe, but I play the Tenor sax, so I didn't have to worry! ^_^ Poor flutes though. The oboe soloist was very jumpy though. Every year it seems the oboe solo (always seems to be a female) doesn't do good. Awell, it's still a magnificent piece!
One of the greatest songs I've been a part of. Listening to my fellow oboe player on the solo and then joining in after was an extremely moving and emotional experience.
I am a clarinet player going to the state gala with my high school wind ensemble (on May 5th, 2019). This song is one of two I have to play (the other is Slava).
For all those playing Persis in school, this song will probably stick with you for a long time. It was definitely the best song I played in band, and ten years on and I still listen to it!
It did for me the runs on sax stay with me
1000% agree!! I can still feel the nervousness of playing my first high school concert as a freshman. That was almost 14 years ago. Yikes lol
1st Trumpet on this song, 18 years ago. The time pass but I still love this song. Great moment and memories !,!
I legit practised with my tuba to this exact video in 2008 because it was the same key as the sheet music I had and I’ve come back every now and then ever since

That oboe solo leave me choking backing tears
And the french horn too
I love this piece. Especially the oboe and french horn duet in the middle. Love the clarinets doing eights during that part too. Makes a great harmony, kind of sad, but really preeeetty.
Any advice
that alto sax part with the fluttery notes
jesus crist
Holy crap yah
HORN, You are beautiful. Everyone else, you are also beautiful.
The horn parts are very difficult but very rewarding once you get the runs down
People still watching this video after 8 years. What a legend.
this video give me a lot of memories of my secondary school
After 10 years :D

Been ten years since I played this in high school and I still love it, it's such an amazing song.
Played the bells and xylophone for this senior year of high school! Hardest piece I’ve ever done! Miss playing it
That part is extremely hard to learn, but once it’s down, it’s not as bad
Still my favorite part i got to play on mallet percussion, especially running between Marimba and Bells through it
I played this back in highschool and our conducter for the festival i was at was actually the composer Mr. James L. Hoosay himself. It was amazing and he even complimented my 3 piece suit and said those should make a come back. This song has a special place in my heart.
I played trombone 1 in high school. Absolute favorite piece of all time to perform!
So did I. That was awesome.
+eiennofantasy I would have enjoyed learning trumpet 1. They have lots of runs.
Such a sick piece for Trombone. I particularly love the trombone 2 part aha

this is so real, and i'm playing it on tenor for school as well, i have a concert with this next week lol
2:30 it's just beautiful. 7:07 the runs for the Flute, Xy, clarinet, and oboe are off the chain. A great piece to learn.
Played this for band last year, the melody at 7:08 still gives me chills

Uahng Clxai I feel that
Lol try playing the flute part. Those runs at the end killed me.
lmao just a ton of practice, start slow and slowly build your speed up.. the runs at 6:17 and at the end of the piece were on my final playing exam in high school and i remember practicing so much for that but it payed off cuz i got a 98 :) Good luck!

This sound's like a piece of music for hero's! It reminds me of The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the wild.
I'm not even kidding, I'm currently choking up while studying ..help
