Would love to get Discovery with HBO Max, specifically for Battlebots. Currently get HBO Max for free with my AT&T internet and I fear that's about to go away.
To combine these apps seems like a bad fit. They have two completely different audiences that will likely drop the app altogether if the price goes up too much, or at all. It would be best to keep the apps separate, but offer a bundle price where you could save a few bucks if you decide to go with both.
The Wife and I enjoy discovery+ for the Food Network / HGTV content. We will drop it if the price goes up because we just don't watch enough tv to justify more than $7 for a couple of cooking and home design shows. set our DVR and fast forward thru commercials.
Likely HBO will become a hub within Discovery plus; pricing can be a wild variable, but eventually paramount plus is adding showtime as a hub as well(currently just a bundle). The bundle price for ad-free on the Paramount bundle is $15 a month or $150 a year, which is basically what Showtime was by itself. I think based off this, Discovery plus will remain the same, but will be an extra 8-10 bucks to add HBO.
Hopefully they move existing customers over to whatever the new service is if not they will lose a lot of customers like WWE Network did which I have both Discovery plus and HBO Max but I love HBO Max better so I'm hoping they keep the HBO Max interface and just move Discovery plus into it
Unofficial price guessing here my guess is 18-25 a month (add free) remember hbo has popular adult and kids shoes and don’t forget about the ton of hubs/channels from discovery+ best guesses and good luck
i like Hbomax More than discovery plus But heres my take on this craig they should Bundle discovery plus with hbomax Rather than trying to combine the two services that way all of the movies and tv shows will be safe and they would be two completely seperate hubs for programming
I’d hope they’d find a nice price in the middle and that we get some good stuff from both services. I’ve heard stuff like the planned Green Lantern Corps show is safe and Peacemaker season two is safe as well. Titans, Doom Patrol, Pennyworth: The Origin of Batman’s Butler as well as the new upcoming animated series My Adventures With Superman are all safe as well. Ty for the video man and keep the fantastic content coming pleaae!
Hi Craig, do you have any info on the HBO Max/ Discovery+ merger and a possible expansion of language options? We subscribed to HBO via cable 10+ years ago, and enjoyed the HBO East being mirrored on HBO Latino. It allowed us to watch nearly all HBO Originals say "The Sopranos" or "Six Feet Under" in English or Spanish. Having been "off the grid" for so long, when HBO-Now came out, we were excited about possibly having access to HBO again w/o needing to subscribe to cable, however they relegated Latino offerings to only programs intended for a Spanish speaking audience. I called in years ago, and they said, "When HBO Max launches, we're going to offer so much more. Check back then." I did, however it still didn't allow us to watch "Barry" or "The White Lotus" among nearly all of their originals in Spanish. So, fast forward several years later.... Netflix was first, however now MOST Amazon Originals, and even Peacock Originals offer multiple languages. There's so much to watch, on way too many platforms, however we'd love to catch up on some of the HBO we've missed out on over the years. If you have any insight as to whether the merger with Discovery will likely bring back a relatively consistent at minimum bi-lingual (English and Spanish) audio and subtitle toggle option, we'd be thrilled to hear your news. What it comes down to, is we're a multi-lingual family, and based upon the language strengths of who's in the room, we need the flexibility to have these options. Hang in there, Delfino
Absolutely hate the idea of a merger of all content onto one platform, like most I get HBO free and have never felt the need to get Discovery for any content so of course I'm not gonna pay to get half stuff I don't want and half stuff I don't pay for now...
I’m thinking eventually, I’ll stick with only 3 “must have” streaming services: Amazon Prime, b/c they have a lot of good shit, Disney+ b/c of Star Wars, and Paramount+ b/c of Avatar TLA.
I want Warner Bros to regret this merger and hope HBO will pull out of this nonsense. I don't care, nor want to watch Discovery+. All these platforms want to kill Netflix, but the way they are acting will be a silver lining for it. I think if Netflix gets its act together only Disney+ will be a threat. If they had a $9.99 plan for one screen at 1080p (HD) that would save their asses. They also need to invest in better content.
Given that apparently, a show that would have likely ended up on Discovery Plus is now slated for HBO Max, that seems to signaling that HBO will probably be the dominant brand going forward. The only downside as far as I’m concerned is that if Discovery Plus would become the dominant brand, HBO would likely get cheaper as a result, but that was unlikely to happen anyway.
I am like you. Being a movie goer, I purchased HBOMax for the movie contents, not to watch the Food Channel. So Discovery channels, like yourself, I would never watch unless I am very very very bored. Plus I get allot of this discovery type content on my OTA antenna. So why pay for the same thing when I get similar for free. But everyone has their own likes and that is great. My likes are movies. Thanks for the great review videos and about this merger.
My biggest worry is that HBO Max will get the Discovery treatment with all of that garbage TV that they produce. HBO is known for having quality programming especially those documentaries while Discovery has garbage reality shows. I just don’t want to happen to HBO Max what they did to the Food Network & HGTV, two networks I used to love but don’t watch anymore.

I'm on the other side of the fence I want HBO Max to leave discovery plus alone I don't want to pay more than $7 a month for it or pay more for other things I don't watch. But it seems that these companies will chase most subscribers away just like they did with cable. And free with ads is never an option. Greed has no end
I don't care how much it costs or what it will look like so long as they keep the shows I watch and don't axe them and replace them with a bunch of reality TV garbage, that's what I fear the most because Discovery is full of that shit.

With these policies from the streaming services companies, people will start, again, looking into piracy to watch their shows.

Why merge if their plan was to kill it seems stupid. The 70+ Million will not move to Discovery+ if all movies etc are axed. I love Discovery+ don't get me wrong. I watch it maybe one or two times a week. Friday night when Gold Rush and other spin off are on. that's about it.
I think the price will be where HBO Max is at now. Maybe a couple of dollars more. It’s going to be the discovery+ customers that will see the price increase. Oh boy, these mergers are what some of us would charitably call a "cluster". I understand both the HBOMax and Duscovery+ folks resentment of paying for content you don't want whatsoever! Sounds like a B rated horror flick: "CableTV 2.0: The Evolution!!" I have "a modest proposal" that might work: 1. For HBOMax folks: You keep your current HBOMax package (no ads) and price and Warner et al. gives you some Discover+ that are supported by ads. 2. For Discovery+ folks: You keep your current Discovery+ content (I assume that's ad free) and price and Warner et al. gives you some HBOMax content that are ad supported. 3. For folks that would love to have both "full blown (ad free/complete content) HBOMax AND Discovery+ you get a slight discount for the package ($20-21) versus $22 bought separately. The ad revenue on the first two options should pay for the partial content of the service you really don't want any of anyway. Is it a perfect plan? Hell, no! But it's better than the alternative. I'm an old guy that can remember when video/TV was broadcast only, there was only B/W (no color TVs nor briadcasts) broadcasts, TV was free but supported totally by commercials revenue. Also, the stations usually shut down around 1 a.m. and restarted broadcasting about 6 a.m.

Hopefully🤞🏾
They are not HBO max is going to be dead
i think the new name should be discover hbo
You are wrong Discovery+ is very profitable where HBOmax is not there is a reason why Discovery manage to buy WarnerMedia.
This is what I thought too
Oh boy, these mergers are what some of us would charitably call a "cluster". I understand both the HBOMax and Duscovery+ folks resentment of paying for content you don't want whatsoever! Sounds like a B rated horror flick:
"CableTV 2.0: The Evolution!!"
I have "a modest proposal" that might work:
1. For HBOMax folks:
You keep your current HBOMax package (no ads) and price and Warner et al. gives you some Discover+ that are supported by ads.
2. For Discovery+ folks:
You keep your current Discovery+ content (I assume that's ad free) and price and Warner et al. gives you some HBOMax content that are ad supported.
I have hbo max and discovery plus and I don't now there's a bunch of hate i get some of it but oh well I have a streaming empire I have the DISENY BUNDLE,PARAMOUNT PLUS,HBO MAX,DISCOVERY PLUS,PEACOCK all of them are good
