Very informative video. The back of my Maytag washer vibrates & has done so since it was new. I hooked a piece of rope on the back & pulled it tight toward the front of the washer which helped so I’m wondering if maybe the screws were not tightened. Will have to check. It’s worse when I wash jeans & I’ve cut the load size down considerably. Thanks for sharing such a great repair video. Very well done!
I also have a washer only a couple years old , whirlpool, piece of crap! They are all made by whirlpool. Do yourself a favor and pay the extra money for a speed queen
Very well done as always. The one time I had problems with shaking and making loud banging noises was that one time I ate at Chipotle. 😀 Hope you have a great weekend ahead!
replaced suspension rods with Chinesium and well, it didn't last long. If you have to wait to get USA made parts, do so, its worth the wait and the money.
True, but he gets them virtually for free and sells them to other people. I’d put the cheapest parts in I could if I was reselling them, but if I were keeping them I’d get US made parts.
My washer was 90% identical; however, the drum was completely suspended by the rods/springs... if you follow the video's instructions on how to get the right part, you should be fine (Yes, I got mine from Amazon too). In my case, I found it easier just to pull the washer out completely and lay it on its side - that "zeroes" the tension on the "top" springs and they are easy to replace. Flipping it over has the same effect. When repaired and reset upright, you may need to 'bounce' the tub a bit manually for everything to set... Once it does, yes, it can still side/side but it is difficult to go up/down. My guess is the "free form/ Side-to-side" thing is so it can judge the load size. But the repair worked like a charm - $40- over $400? sign me up!
Love how you explain everything as you go! I replaced my rods but think I’m going to have to replace the hub, it’s still shaking. Also need to replace the sound absorbers on both sides. 🤞🤞🤞

Thanks for the instruction. I’m curious, what’s wrong or what’s the malfunction of the suspension rods? Our machine is banging significantly on spin. Seems easy but I’d like to know what’s wrong with the rods. How did they fail?
It's a combination of the dampening grease used in the aid of smoothly compressing and decompressing the springs rubbing off and the internal foam inserts wearing out.
I have a whirlpool WTW4815EWO I bought suspension rods from Amazon. It says compatible. I noticed the plastic pieces that fit in the whole n cup the rod fit into are slightly different. They don’t look like fit securely in the frame. So I used the old ones. Put back together but machine is still banging. Also the drum still feels like had sake slack in it. Not firm.
I have a Bravo model of Maytag and it would spin out of balance. I just changed the suspension rods and that solved the problem for about 5 washes. Now it's out of balance again. I did the re-calibration and the Spin light stayed on and blinking. Any advice?

Great video, I just replaced the plastic to metal flange but fear I need to replace the rods too because it still bounces up and down when pushed down.

Bro thanks for ur videos. Question my maytag machine is 1 year old u thing thats the problem with mine??? It shakes like crazy. I hope u will answer my question thanks a lot again for ur helpful videos..🙏🏼🙏🏼
Yes it can be the suspension rods that are bad. It's definitely worth trying! If it is not the rods, then most likely, the inner tub is beginning to strip, which would be much more of an expensive (probably not worth it) repair. I make sure the washer is completely level and then replace rods.
hello, yesterday I bought new washing machine and I forget to remove 4 bolt screws from the back. and I had start washing clothes and after few minutes my machine got noise and i plugged off and i saw one bolt screw broken down on the floor. after that i remove all bolt screw from the machine. i am worried about the half part of the screw inside the machine. I just want to know is it safe for machine or what happened?
Best thing to do is get the is search a website like www.appliancepartspro.com by model number of your washer. This will ensure you get the correct suspension rods
How long do most suspension rods last? My washer is only 4 yrs and moves everywhere on the spin cycle. I am assuming it's the rods that need replacing.
It all depends on how you have used the washer. If you overload it consistently, you will be lucky to get a yese or two out of the rods. Without knowing all the details, I would say 4 years for the rods is not bad
U really talk too much about nothing. After watching video i need to amend my first sentence. The beginning was annoying due to the needless talking but the rest of the video was spot on. Thanks for an informative video.

Hi DuctTapeMechanic! I just subscribed! Question for you, is it likely to be anything other than the suspension rods? The hub axle seems fine but I do have water between the inner and outer drum and I am wondering if that could be the culprit for the crazy shaking? After I opened up the top I put the washer on spin with nothing inside and it spun smoothly.
I would check to see if there is significant play between the inner and outer tub (it should be tight). If there is play, then your inner tub is stripped (time for new washer). If there is no play, try pushing down on the agitator with your hand if it bounces around a couple times the suspension rods are bad (good rods should only bounce back once or twice). Running it without any cloth won't tell you much. Hope this helped.
My tub is huge and no room to squeeze my arm down to lift the rod up into the top hole. So I used the clip end of my dog’s leash to grab the hook on the top of the rod and pull the it up thru the hole! HA!
I have replaced the rods in my Cabrio and now it will spin at high speed and not bang around. However when agitating the drum slams into the sides every time the agitator changes direction. The bearings need replacing and I will be doing that next when I get the kit. But scratching my head over such a wide movement of the tube during agitation when that was not an issue before I replaced the rods. Any thoughts on this?
I replaced the springs, but my washer still shakes violently when spinning. The issue is not the load being out of balance. Do you know what else could cause this? Thanks.
Try replacing the hub. You will have to remove the agitator and you will see it. I have a video on it as well. ruclips.net/video/pkzJa_5PrRc/видео.html

Hello, i have a Maytag washing machine and when the spin cycle starts the washing machine stars making a lot of noise, im thinking bearings(?). I've also cleaned the light sensor that sits on the actuator since it was covered in a thin layer of dried mud so the washing machine wouldn't work. @@DuctTapeMechanic thanks man. Just ordered the replacements
My man!! Just got the OEM parts delivered today and installed them in about 20 minutes.
There was a commenter (either on this video or another I don’t remember) who said not to get the Amazon ones and to get OEM. So it cost $110 for all 4 suspension rods. Installed super easy with your instructions, and now the washer is spinning like a top!
Thank You!!
I bought the wrong suspension rod. How do i find the correct one for Whirlpool
The best thing to do is search by the model number of your washer
@@DuctTapeMechanic the model number is 2DWTW4845EW1 but I cant find it
What if I replaced these but it is still shaking bad
Most likely the tub nut is either loose or your tub is stripped in which you will need to purchase a new washer
My Maytag only grinds in agitation mode. Would that also be the clutch?
I would replace clutch and shifter (it could be a weak shifter). Both parts combined are only like $50
Thanks, Dude!
You're welcome!
