Important question ☝🏼 how do you deal with the curls when it’s always humid and raining in the winter? No big deal but I imagine my hair being a big frizz ball 😅
Thank you for this video, I learned so much from you. I'm a North Carolina native hoping to do something crazy and relocate across the country to Washington before the end of this year, and I've never visited or been further west than Tennessee 😅
It's different for sure, but there's so much to appreciate. Just give yourself time to adjust if you make a long move - it can take up to a year to really settle in
Thank for your insight on Vancouver, wa. You mentioned summer there is like San diego. I live in San diego so I'm glad to hear that. The weather is nice here but the cost of living is crazy and now we have to deal with the drought. We will have to check out Vancouver, wa. Thank you.
Yes, although (I'm sure you've heard) we had a crazy historic heat wave this year. It does remind me of that perfect San Diego weather in the summer. Let me know if you have any questions as you consider SW Washington :)
I'm a hell-bent renter but/and just wanted to say I loved this video, great info reinforces everything I thought was the case. I can't wait to get there in May. Ciao.
Hey, give me a call and we can talk in depth about it. I'm happy to answer all your questions, even if it means deciding that Washington isn't the right place for you
We are looking to move out there but it won’t be for a couple years....when would be the best time to reach out to you? A year before? 2 years before? 6 months before? Let me know as I love your videos and would love to have you be our guide as we look to move to SW Washington!
Thanks so much Luke! Reach out whenever you're comfortable, but I say the sooner the better because there are early on questions I can answer, if you're thinking of buying we can get you prepped ahead of time, plus I'll get to learn your preferences as we get to know each other. And if you're anything like me, sometimes I watch someone's videos and can't find them/the info again so if you reach out now we'll at least be in contact outside of RUclips. Looking forward to being your guide!
Just watched your video on being black in Vancouver and loved it. My son is half black and I currently live down south ga and he starts school this year and im terrified to have him experience what I did with school down here. Its me, my bf and my son us pets looking to move up there Asap. And I love your videos, I wish we could buy right away. Do you have any advice for renting up there?

I'm starting to call the people "Northwest Nice" it's like the PNW version of Southern Charm. I've found people to be very friendly and neighborly. That said, we're the type of people that meet people & make friends everywhere we go. But we haven't personally experienced the Seattle Freeze
Hello! I’m curious about living in Washington with my family, would you be able to provide information or a video regarding living on the eastern side of Washington? I would really appreciate it!
We're a special needs family on one income just looking for a more inclusive place for our son/family. I'm glad allergies are better there. My son has horrible allergies over here in N. AZ. and we've spent $1500 on purifiers, medicine, etc, and it's just awful still. Ty
Very nice video Hal. Informative and fun. We live in Vermont and may be moving out west to help take care of my aging mother. She and my sister, who is the primary caregiver, live in Santa Clara County CA. They are considering moving to Vancouver and if that is the case we may join them to help my mother and sister out. You mentioned your aunt lives in Vermont. which town? We might know her. You mentioned Portland International airport. If it is so close to Vancouver, is there a noise problem in Vancouver as a result? I will watch more of your videos and let my mother and sister know what I find out. if they get serious about Vancouver, i will pass the link to your videos on to them. Your husband looks very cool and your son seems a very bright spirit. Thanks. Be well.
Hi Mark! Thanks for commenting 🙂 I think your family would like Vancouver. My husband and I always say that the Pacific Northwest is the perfect combination of West Coast and East Coast vibes. For the airport there is some noise the closer you are to the river because the airport is right on the Columbia River, the state line. But if you're living farther away, then not so much. Please feel free to reach out if you all have any questions as you make a decision if Vancouver will be the right area.
@@halbyrd_ Hello Hal. Thank you for your kind reply about the airport noise. That makes sense. One issue that maybe you address in other videos that I have not yet seen is about crime. Of course, any American city has a crime problem, but if you look at the stats in comparison to the average, Vancouver does not fare so well. I am wondering what this is all about. As a person who lives there and also has a family living there, does the city feel safe to you? What precautions do you take, if any? I know this can be a touchy issue to discuss frankly, but for my elderly mom and sister, who live in a very safe area of a city that also has crime problems (San Jose CA), it is an important factor in selecting a place to relocate to.
Very little Tony... On average it snows 3-6 inches a year, which doesn't last very long on the ground. If you want real snow however, you can always take a short drive up to Mt. Hood in Government Camp, OR. Thanks for the question & for watching - JB
I guess that depends on where you're coming from. Some of my clients feel like it's super affordable here and for other the pricing is a setup from their home state. But generally, I'd say yes. The price of land varies so much between cities, counties, grade/slope, what services are present, etc.
There are 1 bedroom apartments available in Vancouver. If you need assistance, you'll want to reach out to the Vancouver Housing Authority. Hope that helps!
@@halbyrd_ yes that kinda helps I'm hoping there are regular appts there that take sec 8 like here in santa barbara and not just the designated buildings for it my best buddy lives in battleground

Thank you so much for your informative videos. I would love for you to be our realtor. We're currently in Texas, engaged, expecting, and looking for a home.
I wanted to relocate from Nevada, where I moved to a few months ago. Its a distance and I'm not familiar with WA. Any first time homebuyer programs? After seeing how much WA costs, I realize I can only afford a mobile home, but that's okay for now. I'd rather own than rent. Please help.
No not at all. It's not continually gray. You'd be surprised how many sunny (but cold 40-50°F) days we have even in winter. But the change is seasons and gray days affect everyone differently

Will the "likes" on your video be worth ruining the city you like by influencing folks to move there, making it more expensive and crowded, causing traffic congestion and high rent prices?
I don't care about "likes". Before I ever posted a video on RUclips 5,000 people a year were moving into Vancouver. I'm not even a drop in the bucket. Look to the state government and the GMA as to why certain areas are growing. Thanks for your comment.
Why? I drove through there on my way to Portland. Some people alerted me about some sort of racial tensions or basically left and right wing tensions in both Vancouver and Portland. I don't know how true this is?
I always wanted to say "first" on a comment section. Now I can:) Loving your informative videos. Keep up the great work!
