You forgot washer that was in wrench pliers! :)
I did! it's in there now :)
@@RestoreIt i dont beleive u. It wasn't on the video. Now i wont sleep at night
And the bolt facing the opposite way on reassembly was bothering my brain...
Restore It what about those two screws holding the hall thing when you installed it back? They doesn’t look clean😬
@@RestoreIt That moment at 12:00 actually made me feel uncomfortable. I feel better now, cheers 😁
Nearly 39k people have just spent 15 minutes watching a man polish spanner’s in his garage. Why do we (and I include myself in this) find restoration videos so alluring????
And why do I find doing it so Alluring... who knows :D
Because we seek perfection and order in things perhaps.
The zinc plating after polish looks great! Your attention to detail is also exemplary. Using the brass roto brush on the plastic case was epic, and effective!
Thanks Michael! Very kind of you to say. Much appreciated.
"SKINNERRR"
Factory kits are not usually known for the best quality of tools. but i got a TOYOTA kit with my 1972 landcruiser and they have been really good tools, the pipe wrench that came with the kit is the best quality i have ever used.
These tools seem okay. I'd like to see yourr toyota ones...
That crank window is rare, like rarer than the car itself
Haha I know.. A cool thing to have.
I like that you tried to emulate the old video style. I really miss those.
Thanks Sebastian, rusty nut restorations will have those type of videos on it soonish. Maybe even without talking. I need to streamline a few things so I can be consistant on both channels. All to come i promise.
I didn't realize how much I wanted this video until I saw it. Thank you.
Thanks for clicking and watching Shawn!
I really do not know how I missed the video, now browning on youtube page, I saw the video, ofc came to watch it.Bro it misses 2 tools from the kit ....... the rust remover, and the rust prevention 😂😂😂.Great job as always.
I have owned E30s since the mid-1990s, and by now I have several, and I sell some used E30 parts. I love these cars but you amaze me with your insights, perseverance, and high standards. It feels to me like I'm making mud pies while you're making skycrapers. Good on ya!
I absolutely love that you restore all the things forgotten by other so called restorers. I mean you even filed out past tooling marks on wrenches. Who does this!?!? Great work, I really enjoy your channel!!
Great job! I just restored the larger tool kit for my E21 323i. Took a while to get the missing pieces and much scrubbing to clean it up. I now have everything except the blue cloth with BMW logo. Keep up the great work!
Nice work Joel and thanks :)
The cool thing in BMW vehicles is that every part has its Part Number engraved, even tools. Some of these tools are the same that my G650gs have.
That is amazing! Great job, might do that on my e30 :) although you should have straightened that 17 wrench
Thanks. Is it meant to be straight? I'll get it done in that case. Cheers for letting me know
Was thinking the exact same thing on that 17 wrench.
Yeah at least mine is straight.
I feel like now we’re talking about something very different... and a little dirty.
@@ChuckUnderFire lol, yeah that went a little bit south.
Thanks! You saved me $7.50 USD on my Toyota T100 manual.
Thanks Timothy! Glad to hear this...
Beautiful restoration, it is rare to have the original on-board tools
....(or find them)
I have a Mercedes W201 from 1991, the tools are almost identical, but come in a dark red cloth bag that you store with the on-board jack and the spare wheel. Against the trunk door, there is the warning triangle....
The old german cars.... all in the details
Thank you Nico. Very cool, it really is all in the details you're absolutely right. Thanks mate.
The attention to detail here is just amazing, well done 👍
Thank you Matthew!
Certainly will be a factory fresh resto. Good work as always 😊
It is very important to have a clean tool!
It is indeed!
My man, you need to acquaint yourself with Novus #2 Plastic Polish for jobs like this. Magical stuff. I've used it before with great success on stuff like pink-faded seatbelt release buttons.
Very nice. 👌
Thank you Pauline :)
Antonio's M3 is looking awesome. @Restore It can wait to see the other 2 getting finished, too. Keep up the great work guys! 👍👍
Thank you wsshead. I couldn't agree more.
Didn't know they had tool kits like that, pretty cool it goes in the trunk like that in the lid n all. Wish more cars had kits like that, good kits.
The 15 - 17 spanner needs to be straightened again 🙂 good luck with the restoration
Thanks for letting me know Alfa :D
I thought same :)
Hi, looks good, it's probably one of the easiest part of restoration process from all this project 😊
Hey Ozzy, thanks man. I needed it right now. It's so hot in spain and im waiting on so many things to come through, this came just at the right time.
Casting marks are "original". Why remove what it original and from the factory? :-)
an 1M update next? great job done
I've taken on too much and right now im trying to get consistancy on restore it but even that is prooving hard haha. All to come all to come :) Thanks Thomas!
Engine bay, bodywork, paint, toolkit...hey, you make the video, I'll watch it.
All of these big jobs are taking longer than i thought and im waiting on the panels which i the main setback for the 325i. I'm working on getting better organised and consistent but we'll see how long it takes me haha. Thanks Daniel.
@@RestoreIt You've got a good channel.
Hello! I love the way you clean your tools, now I also want to clean tools at home like you do.
My OCD is at ease when watching this channel.
Perfect. Thanks Lars.
Thank goodness I'm not the only one who thinks this... LOL

Thanks!
I had to see this always want to know how to restore them
Thanks!
I envy your patience! The best channel!
Thanks Nail!
The unknown wrench looks like one that I got with a home cheapo generator for initial basic assembly. Or maybe a walmart bike wrench. Thanks for the cool video!
Waiting on test drive of you’re finished projects
Oh me too tashfeen :)
Very nice, but you're still missing something: Small light blue Roundel logo shop rag. Available at the dealership - at least that's where I got mine 25 years ago. Fits nicely on top of your shiny tools.
Be careful holding that microfiber towel next to the polishing wheel!
Nice restoration.
Yea I was very careful, I've seen what can happen and just no thanks. Thanks man :)
Mate you know I love the videos as usual.
I think you should buy some hydrogen peroxide and LED UV lights for plastic restoration. I think they deozone it and remove UV discolouration
Thank you dude. And yes.. i have been looking into this. I'm going to get some for rusty nuty restorations projects :D
I honestly thought this was a tool kit you were using to repair the M3.. Didn't realize the car came with it's own tool kit.
Haha i can see why one could think that.
Your videos is like therapy to me. Love them!
Красавчик успехов тебе
Thank you!
I am sure the 17 spanner needs straightening
You are correct I think :D
It doesn’t, is meant to be like that, also, if you straighten it, it won’t fit back in it’s spot
Amazing Work!
There is something satisfying in restoring tools it a hobby I enjoy, the only problem is you have a lot of tools.
There is something very satisfying about it yes. The more the merrier :D
Hi my friend. Please do a video how to do anodiosed. Your tools and all procide
I will probably do this one day for sure :)
@@RestoreIt i wait for it thanks
Que bien ha quedado!mejor que nuevo, gran trabajo, sois los mejores!
muchas gracias!
Love your Chanel man and the e30 project is so nice
man i fkn hate rust ! i bought a high mileage e36 recently, and everytime i keep finding rust spots, its making me go nuts! great vid
It's the worst haha. Thanks Yaron!
Good job
Thank you :)
Nice job man! 🔥
Thanks dude!
That's interesting, on that older BMW you're restoring it has tool kit in the trunk lid, mine newer model (2006) has a med kit in it, I'm from the USA so might be different by countries, but it's still interesting to see different things in different BMW trunk lids lol
I think its different because of time. Regardless of where the car was sent they all came with this tool kit as im sure all 2006 models of your car come with a med kit there. But who knows what BMW are up to :D
Good job, mate.
you left out the spring loaded "Wave Washer" in the pliers...........
he thought we don't care))) but we do!!!
I did indeed! It's in there now not to worry :)
It's in there now not to worry :)
@@RestoreIt Honest I was stressing about that... (Lost parts drive me insane.) So glad you put it back in there. Now I can get a good nights sleep...
It was a different type of video but was good I liked it good job
Thanks Joey!
Nice work
Thank you! Cheers!
مبدع 😍😍
Thanks!
U welcome
Really enjoyed the video👌🔥
looks fantastic
Thanks Luke!
Very good video!
Wonderful job 👍
Thanks as always Sony!
You are the best 👍.Cheers
yep I miss that one and that one and oooohhh thats whats suppose to be there
Ficou perfeito, bom trabalho! 👏👏🇧🇷
Thanks!
Can you list what each tool is used for ... I have a few items missing and I don’t know what they will be need for..
You need this website :D - bimmertips.com/bmw-e30-toolkit-tools-part-numbers/
You forgot the washer at the pliers
Thanks Simme, they're in there now :)
Fantastic job! There's something about an empty space in the tool kit that bothers me lol I recently gave in and bought a new pliers from BMW even though I'll most likely never use it because now I don't want to scratch it 🙈😂😂😂
Why did not you use a sandblasting to remove rust?
It's so loud sometimes the wire wheel is just more convenient :)
The 10mm is the first to go, I think there's a place they all meet😂
Great work! So the tools had zinc plating from the factory?
Wow, I just clean mine yesterday. Missing some tools tho
Conincidence.. eBay has some :)
Every spanner set I have is missing the 10 mil lol
The tool Gods want it that way...
🔴 *SUPER* 👍
Thank you :)
Nice...👍
Thanks Barney!
Great job but why didn’t you straighten the 17/19 spanner?
I'm confused. At 9:41 you mention that the emergency window crank tool is only used in a handful of cars, the E30 not being one. The only reason for it is to fill the hole in the kit. Why is it so damaged "from years of use", if it's not for that car?
真棒
Ну красава, молодец!!!
Thank you!
Restore It and you! for your content!
Missing the rod that goes in into the spark plug tool, and also installed the retaining cable/holder thing that slots into the trunk backwards, two notches in it to keep it from falling out in the trunk
We are on the hunt for the rod and I think I got it the right way in the end
I think the spanner is meant to be like that not like what people say in the comments.
Plus if it's getting straighten out then it should have heat treatment to harden the metal.
I think
Interesting memories.. I was 50/50 on this every time i read it.. I'll really look into it and maybe get some comparisons.
@@RestoreIt
You can make your decision by investigating if the bent part of the spanner is looking factory bent or made by improperate use.
When you mentioned the useless tool I had to laugh🤣🤣...coz I have it on my large 325i tray...aka South African spec
Hmm maybe its meant to be there i have no idea haha
Nice
Thanks!
@@RestoreIt No Thank you! for the content.
No spanner..."i make a new one". Somehow i was expecting you to say that. Check the mymechanics channel.
Also the black handle on the screwdriver doesn’t look right mine used to be grey to match the wheel alignment tool ??
How long did this process take you?
That odd ball wrench looks like a vintage roller skate key.
Haha could well be..
Ich wünschte mein Werkzeugkasten sähe auch so aus. Wurde er nachher auch imprägniert?
nice video!
Thanks Nutsku!
I've never been so early here...
Tell me about it
@@DoKapsy 😂😂
Thanks for coming Nuno!

Why didn't you nickel plated the tools instead of using zinc?
My nickel plating kit is 'broken' so to speak. I'm getting a new one soon. I might nickel plate over whats already there if all goes well.
Nery Vice !
Why would you remove the casting marks? I know it looks much cleaner but it doesnt look original...
You forgot to put the washer between the adjustable ratchet.
17mm original is bending !!
Casting marks should not be removed If they weren’t there when BMW sold the car, that would be different. But they were. And they should be there now.
I told you, the tool kit will make a good video on it’s own 😉
Haha you did! Cheers Mosk.
Missing spanner: as is tradition.
Actualy breaking tradition by replacing it...
what is that plastic thingy for?
1:04 The 10-mil spanner makes its first appearance!
Haha.. I did forget when we first introduced it.. Thanks man.
I can restore them in half the time cus half of mine are missing😉
Haha lucky for you joseph :D
imagine that in the end the car would be worth literaly a million £
weird, the more I see the extra tool, the more I think it was made out of a spoon 🤔
Haha.. it could have been i guess
