In this video I take on the very much exciting task of refreshing the front subframe assembly on my E30. This is one of the tasks I have been most excited to do on this car as extremely clean and functional undercarriages of these cars are peak for me. I really don't think I like anything more. Ever single item was either refinished, replaced, or drastically upgraded. From a ZHP steering rack that will drastically improve handling of the car to a new ST suspension anti-roll bar to help make the car feel less like a box truck. I can't wait to feel how this set up is under the weight of the car and on the road. Rear subframe coming soon. Much love.

Please debate below: Matte black? Semi-Gloss black? Or Gloss black for undercarriage parts?
I would say glossy black so not only matches the car paint but also it is easier to release dirt when washed either you apply a ceramic coating or not. By the way, you can also try to protect the frame with Bilt Hamber Hydrate80 since it will protect it from rust specially in Canada stuff they put on roads.
Funny you hate red and I can't see red, green, pink, brown, orange, teal, violet colors like you do because of protanopia (colorblindness)😜
White gloss.😁
Semi-gloss!
Semi-Gloss 🖤
Noir mat ! Obligatoire ❤
This Channel deserves so much more attention. They way you build your Cars with such perfection and using better performing parts is just exactly how i always imagined how i would restore a car. Im so glad that i somehow found your Channel because its such an inspiration. I still dream about doing something like this to my dream Car Skyline R34
Thank you so much bro! All I can hope for is that the people enjoy this kind of stuff find it and it helps them in some way or another. I appreciate the support!
The oily
Nothing I love more than suspension refreshes
This shit really is the most fun ever haha
This is honestly the best Chanel's to watch so much attention to detail and no cheap parts everything you do is quality man keep it up excited to see the transformation
Thank you so much Rafael! Trying to learn and keep it fresh for you guys all at the same time. We all just playing with cars haha
And I am once again, here being the best professional crastinator the world has ever seen. I can’t wait to see the E30 running and driving!
Hahaha acknowledging it is the most important. I also be crasting. Thanks Henry!
Just great! I am honestly a bit tired of people telling me to buy whatever sponsorship they now have. As usual an honest and amazing video!
Thanks man! Yes yes it’s very frustrating. Makes you wonder what people would do with 100% free thought and no bias. There will be a few parts sponsored on this car but they’re stuff I had sought out for a long time and managed to just get a small discount haha
chromies got a soothing voice and a way with words
Easy when you are working on the Travis Scott car 👍
This & a cold beer after a long day of polishing ❤️
Using this vid as a blueprint instructional for what I want to do with my e30. Instant sub
this is a certified mr. mike classic 👍
Thank you dude!!🤝🤝
This may be one of the best shot videos on RUclips for cars. It's really good.
Bro, you‘re doing your thing!! Absolutly amazing. The car will be top notch!!
Superbe travail sur cette BMW !
Le bonjour d'un abonné Français !

You’re the man! 🫶🫶🫶
I have a barn find 1987 325e - parked since 2001 - and this is so wonderful to see being documented 🥰
Gathering parts currently and I need to follow in your footsteps on this restoration
That’s awesome man! That’ll be a very fun process to get started on. I wish you and your wallet the best of luck!
@@ChromaticGarage I will never financially recover from this.
Great music selection and superb editing ✌️🎶
Thank you very much my friend!
Great video. The work you have done is fantastic! 👍 I am really enjoying this build and I am looking forward to the next part.👍😎
Thank you bro! Very excited to get to the rear!
Astonishing! Such a quailty of movie. I own an E34 and Im dreaming to have your time and peace to improve it
Thank you very much! A lot of time, a lot of patience, and a lot of dreaming. We’ll all get there 🫶
Hey Mike, awsome work....such perfection, such patience....unbelievable. Great man, absolute great....greetings from bavaria..Alex
Thank you very much Alex! This was a lot of fun to put together 🫶👍
Don’t forget to readjust and retorque the endlinks and sway bar mounts once you have wheels on the car and it’s under load. Otherwise you’ll have preload. Love this channel! Love love suspension refreshes.
Always a pleasure to watch you perform your craft I really enjoy every video you post.
By the way red cars are awesome I love red ♥️
Id say Semi-Gloss.
As always great production value
Most definitely agreed! Thank you man!
Your channel and videos are superb. Love the quality of content you put out.
Thank you Scott! Trying my best!
Yet another masterpiece! 💯🔝
Thank you Raphael!
Great work man! Just completed the rear end refresh on mine and was looking for some info on the front and definitely found it here.
Ps. the yellow tag is the same ratio as the purple tag, just a bit tougher to turn.
Thank you so much for tuning in man! Oh really? I always had thought gold was 3 turns and purple was 2.7 haha. However I’m not exactly sure .3 of a turn would ever matter the more I think about it. Best of luck with the build man!
So many nice projects going on! Time for a general update video on everything that you are working on?
Thanks man! Honestly I really love the documentation of the work on the cars. I personally don’t enjoy/watch content of people just talking about them as it doesn’t scratch any artistic itch for me. So I probably won’t make that kinda stuff but I do hope you’ll enjoy what I do make! 🫶🫶🫶
Hey guy, been watching your channel for a bit now, I'm a big fan of your work. I really resonate with your attention to detail. I work on and rebuild classics like BMWs, Porsches, Mercedes, etc, as a hobbiest. The lower steering knuckle is something I've recently spent a bunch of time on. I was trying to decide which route to go in and I finally decided on a new factory steering joint with a poly bushing to replace the rag joint. If you notice, the stock steering knuckle has provisions in it to allow it to separate in the event of a collision. It's the portion with the two pins in it. If you look at it and think about it I'm sure you'll see what I mean. The Condor joint is nice, however, I fear in a collision it turns the steering column in to a harpoon. Just something to think about, don't want to see anyone get hurt.
Thank you very much man! I appreciate the concern most definitely. I thought about this before and asked a few people if this had been considered in the design and apparently it has. Allegedly under forward pressure of an accident the joints would fold outwards rather than becoming a literal javelin. But I’m no expert, just learning and trying to build a race car 🤝
@@ChromaticGaragedoin our best is all we can do! Glad to hear you considered it as well. I get concerned sometimes that people see shiny bits and jump at them, especially considering how much more affordable they can be compared to OEM parts. However, I’m glad to hear safety has been considered in their design. Have a great day!
Amico apprezzo il lavoro,massimo livello!
Looking good! I don’t know bmw’s well but it’s coming along nicely. I think semi gloss would look good too. On another note lol, Love that camera just wish I could afford it, it would help me out a lot. One day 🤞🏼.
Thanks man! I appreciate that! The camera is definitely very good but I have been considering switching up to that new fujifilm x100vi. Much more affordable too
Woohoooo e30 updates !
We love those 🤝🤝
Hey man, just a quick note. The worm screws on that steering shaft are sketchy at best on a street car and have been known to fail. I can tell you know this as you're putting in a couple failsafe's (drilling the shaft and red locktite) but its still a point of concern. If you insist on running it, just make sure you check the tightness on a very regular basis.
Thanks for the concern man! I’m going to keep my eye on them, with how the car is going to be set up I’ll have access below and above to keep tabs. Hoping all is good 🤝🤝
I want that on my e30 😍
I would highly highly recommend it bro!
Inspiring for sure
need that song at the start of subframe removal lol
Great job and we would like to see an ASMR video in the future
Hell yeah😎
The fun stuff!
As always a great video! My only gripe may be the finger snap 😂
Hahaha frig was it a bad snap? My bad 😭
Why are those print-outs of the photos, of the parts... so cool. What is this witchcraft.
best in the bizzz
since this build is going to be a racecar, you planning on reinforcing the top hats?
Strut bars at both sides and bolt in reinforcement in the rear. Front isn’t really a concern for me
Love your content. Currently I have my NA Miata in paint after hoarding all oem exterior seals. Now I'm slowly collecting suspension and steering components. Hopefully it will turn out half as decent as yours. Also, I didn't ask in you under coating video, but why did you use the 3M stuff with all the other alternatives out there. Asking because I will also restore the wheel wells and don't know exactly what to use.
Thanks man! That’s really really rad! I hope it turns out exactly how you’re picturing. There’s a couple auto body shops that I really look up to and they both suggested it so it was a no brainer for me!
Will you not run into bump steer issues with this setup?
Do you still detail cars ? Like on your older videos 😃
Everyday man! Just been the most interested in recording this stuff at the moment. Lots of detailing stuff coming this spring!
What paint code is this?

I think You should add a strut bar.. The normal e30 isn’t build for strong and stif suspension and will probably brake, crack or damage the suspension strut mount (dome)
Yessir man! Just getting started on this project. The car will have a number of rigidity adding bars
