    I’ve got the black version I wear for fire/EMS duty. Love them. Merrell products have been good to me.

    Great looking boots! I love the coyote tan color. I have the "low top" version and when I tried them on in the store it was as though I wrapped my feet in soft fleece. One year later, these Merrell's are still rockin' it on the trail. The tread has obviously worn down a bit but I should get another year out of them. I did security work for two years and wore the LAPG black version and after walking more than 5000 miles in them I passed them on to another security officer. He wanted to pay me for them but I got my money's worth and donated them for the cause. The boots still looked good and shiny as I always "spit shined" them like my military boots. I prefer low cut hiking shoes, however, I may break down and try a pair of the 8" high tops with the zipper if offered in coyote tan. My black ones had the medial lateral zipper and not once in two years of experiencing torrential downpours did my feet ever get wet. I offer a suggestion: wear Wigwam Coolmax sock liners (white) with Darn Tough (merino wool) socks in your Merrell's and you will never regret it. This is what I wore doing security work and what I've worn for backpacking the last three years and never experienced one blister. I still stock moleskin and leuko tape in my first aid kit just in case...which I offered to other hikers who had blisters.

    This is the best video I've found on this boot so far! I am waiting for a pair of these in the mail except mine are the black tactical mid.
    I plan on doing my own review as well! Thanks for some good ideas!

    I usually get my Tac boots from the Army Navy store, but I saw these at Dick's and pulled the trigger on a pair of the 8" waterproof Moab 2 in Coyote. $155, but Merrell's are worth it. Loving them so far.

    Just purchased a pair of merrell moab 2 tactical wp size 11 1/2 for work as a LEO. I went for a hike today, about 4 inches of wet snow on the ground, and hiked with a 30lbs pack on for 6 miles. Wore these right out of the box, and have to say, I'm very impressed. Again, i didn't buy the for hiking, but for police work. They are gtrat boots, extremely comfortable, absolutely no break in whatsoever. The snow was heavy and wet, and my feet did stay dry, not bad for a boot that doesn't have Goretex in them. I ran thru the last creek on the way out of the trail, about 5 inches deep and was shocked my feet stayed dry. So, a thumbs up for these boots. I've wore Merrill's for a long time, but i usually rock asolo hiking books that are $240.00 dollers, and they ate heavier, and not as comfortable as these MOAB boots, which again i didn't but for to hike in them but decided to and no complaints. And ive owned all the name brand tactical bootsnon the market, Adidas, Reebok, Original SWAT, Corcoran, etc. And these are probably gonna be my new gonto boots.

    I’ve been wearing Merrell Moab 2 hiking boots for years. It’s the only boot I’ve ever had that needed no break in period.

    The Moab Ventilator Mids are terrific for mud runs. They’re like tennis shoes. Lots of lateral stability so you’re not likely to twist your ankle.

    LAPG had these for $79 a pair, then a 10% off discount code for signing up for emails from LAPG. They even had wide sizes (I wear a 13Wide). Grabbed a pair in Coyote, and another in Black. What a great deal on Merrell MOAB 2 Defenders. Grabbed 2 of their Coyote "Bail out Bags" too, $25 each. These are great bags for the range, or any assortment of stuff. All that for under 2 hun. Such a deal.

    Dude hope everything is good, have not seen you for a while on YT or IG? So the big question is how are these boots holding up for you? I just bought the Merrell Men's Moab 2 Smooth Mid Waterproof Hiking Boots . Looking forward to them

    How’s the breathability on these? I’ve had some Keen waterproof shoes and they are awful on the breathability. It’s like having a plastic bag on your feet and makes your feet sweat even in mild 50-60° temps.

    I bought some Merrell the other week and took them back. They didn't fit the foot well at all. I ended up with some Ecco trekking shoes. They're like not wearing any shoes at all - super comfortable. You've yet to try these out although you did say they felt good. All the best. Mark

    • @HappilyEverOutdoors
      @HappilyEverOutdoors  6 лет назад +1

      Hello Mark, yes only time will tell in the long run. I was able to try on the regular Moab II’s at a local sporting good store and walk around a bit in them before I ordered these guys online so I felt pretty confident, so far they feel great but we’ll have to see. I’ve tried other boots that people have raved about that I’ve absolutely hated too, it seems like depending on your “foot type” the ideal boot/shoe can be very different, and different brands seem to certainly have a certain design philosophy of their own. Those Ecco trekking shoes do look nice, I’ve just never quite been able to do the more “minimalist” thing. I suppose it’s the years of marching in combat boots that have trained me to a different way of thinking. 😁 I hope you have a great rest of the week sir!

      Hey, interesting thoughts. I trained with the Parachute Regiment in the 80's and my dad was military SF here in Hereford and so I grew up with boots to. I still wear them but these shoes are a treat. Any way, have a cool weekend. Peace!

    I liked these... For the full 3 months they held up. Never had a problem out of Merrells before or since, but these were total junk. Soles fell off, toe bumper split eliminating any "waterproofing" they had. 150 bucks p**sed into the wind.

I just got a pair of Danner Explorer 650's and they're the most comfortable hiking boots I've ever owned. I love Danners and Merrells. Can't go wrong. I hope you get many miles out of them!!!
