As a ranch worker/farmer who doesn't ride horses. Square toe is by far the most comfortable boot style. I have passed out in my boots many times after a hot summer day's work, waiting on dinner. I always know new boots fits right when I wake up from a cat nap, and forget my boots are still on, they feel as comfortable as house slippers when they are right
As an Englishman I am about as far from a cowboy as you can get but I have always loved cowboy boots. Each time I visit the states I return with a couple pf pairs and have about 9 pairs of Lucchese exotics snip toes. However I have discovered the barn boot and have to say these square toe boots are so comfortable even over a 10 to 12 hr day it is unreal, so yes whilst they are not as downright handsome as the traditional toe they make up for it in comfort,
@@shelleyzoe8254 I don't need to be polite to point out that you're buying a brand that exists on name only. Keep wasting money however, don't let me stop you.
In Oklahoma square toes are common when your messing around in daily life and working, traditional round toe is usually reserved for classy events such as BBQ, Dances, Graduations, etc.
Great breakdown of the square toe boot. I quit wearing boots altogether because my feet hurt too much in the point of the toe bunched together. Sketchers brand shoes started a trend of squared end styling to their shoes a few years back and I found them extremely comfortable. I think I might have to give square toed boots a try.
I’ve been wearing Ariat square tow work boots. I’m a diesel mechanic working long shifts on my feet and after a year I still love them. Love the style and comfort 👌🏼
I started wearing round toe cowboy boots when I was in high school, stopped wearing them for awhile, then got back into wearing them, but started wearing J toe boots. Since then, I went back to wearing round toe and medium round toe boots again and then started wearing snip toe boots. Like many other guys, I wasn't a fan of square toe boots, but that changed after I got my first pair. Now I love and own many different toe style boots, a couple different heel styles, as well as many different skins. I absolutely love wearing cowboy boots. If more guys would try wearing them, they may understand why those of us who already wear them, actually wear and love them.
I have worn boots all my life, have no toe pain or foot troubles in pointed toe boots.I will stay in my boots and you will never see me in a square toe boot!
I’m flat foot unfortunately so j and point toe are not a option for me but they look so classy so I might get a pair to go out in for about 2 - 3 hours max
I have a pair of round toe and a pair of square toe boots and I honestly love my square toed boots more they're much more comfortable with the less pronounced heel, and more room in the toe, I can also run in those boots, can't run quite as well in my round toe boots the taller heel makes me more prone to rolling my ankles.
I've always worn boots. I never really cared about square tipped. About a year and a bit ago I bought me a pair and now I love them. I can move my toes now and now the look has grown on me.
I always thought square toe were absolutely horrendous, but I bought my first pair of Square toe a few weeks ago and I love em.. I think I would only apply that to cowboy boots though, would still never go square toe with dress shoes/boots.
I actually wear my boots to do hard labor as a lineman, so I only wear square toes. I don't need my toes getting smashed up all day. What i need is for my feet to still be functional after 10 hours of working. Square toes are objectively better for working in. Anyone who says otherwise either doesn't work in boots, or has never worked in square toe boots.
My main reason for preferring square toe boots is the comfort. My second reason is that I think they look better but that’s my preference. I’m a bigger guy and I think a square toe fits my body better
The truth is that those "square toe" boots that look like skin diving flippers with the corners rounded off are great for getting to shore if your horse throws you into the river and that's all they're good for. If your toes are really spread out that much, you need to have a couple of them on each foot amputated.
I tend to go with square toe or even a "round square" with a rope heel for all around boot but moving to a square clip with a "Dogger" / Texas star heel
Jeremiah, I'm CERTAIN square toed boots (I call them Frankenstein boots) are more comfortable. I just can't go there, and doubt I'll be able to. I'm too much into what looks good to me and "tradition". That's why I like buckaroo style boots with a medium round toe, tall tops, and 2"+ heels (Olathe, and your Hondo 2012, 2670, 8504 and 8506 for example). I'm not a working cowboy, but have always liked traditional cowboy stuff. You're right - the whole reason more pointed toes were developed was so the rider could more easily shoot his foot into the oxbow stirrup. Half (medium) round toes were easier to walk in than super pointed ones. The big heels kept your foot from slipping through the stirrup and you getting drug to death. Those boots were made for RIDING, and most old cowboys hated walking in them. Kind of like women in high heeled shoes. Everyone has switched to low heels and square toes. If comfort is the main concern, why didn't we just stick with ropers? Kind of the same thing isn't it? Anyway, that's just me - to each his own....🙂
I got into the game on squared toes working in upstream gas. I wouldn’t usually have been into them before I encountered square toes just because I got a wide 4 foot and I would look like I’m wearing clown shoes if I wore a more traditional toe box. For me to wear cowboy boots, that’s squared toes and necessity. I wear them in and out of work all the time now. Love them
Getting into wearing boots again after a few decades of not wearing them. The primary reason I wear cowboy boots now is for horseback riding. I have a pair of snip toe boots, and I just got a pair of square toe boots. What I like already about them is they have less "play" when they're in stirrups making an easier ride because they don't slip around as much. And they are so comfortable I still feel like wearing them long after the ride!
I live in West Texas and have square toe boots which I love and I get constant compliments on them (though I prefer round toe). However, what I don't like is that square toe boots (at least here) are the only thing I can buy in store. My city has 7 western clothing stores and in all of them 95% of the boots on the shelf are square toe. Maybe you're right and Texas just has an affinity for square toe boots, but it is pretty annoying.
I live in Frisco, north of Dallas. I know what you mean. I have a few modern square toe boots, but I found my favorite pair of Lucchese’s in the gift shop at the Omni Hotel in Nashville. They have the 7 Toe (or Western Square Toe. Think medium round, but squared for right at the tip) with a 1-1/2” Cowboy Heel. The leather is grey Sanded Shark. They remind me of the old Clint Eastwood Spaghetti Westerns. Love ‘em.
Look on facebook marketplace, i live in fort worth and there is a crap ton of non box toe boots in there just look. Lot of good finds on marketplace. Mostly people selling old boots that they inherited and box toes just came here recently.
We’re just not the real working, horse-riding cowboys anymore. The medium-round toe will always be a classic but it just ain’t relevant in working cattle anymore. Even the real Traditional hard core cowboys prefer square toes to the round toes.
Same, the only pair of pointed toe boots I have are black dress boots that I keep polished and I've had 2 years to break them in so it's not much of a problem.
I love the look of square toe boots, I've bought two pair in the past year and both are Justin's. They're honestly more comfortable than my rounded toe and snipped toe Boots I own, I can wear them all day long and never once be in pain!
When I was younger all I wore was traditional round toe or even the more pointed toe or even snip toe boots. I didn't really like square toe at all. Now I'm 50 and have significant issues with my feet and have to wear orthotics at all times. I had to get rid of around 30 pairs of boots because my orthotics didn't fit. Recently while at Stages West in Pigeon Forge TN. I found a pair of Tri Star boots broad square toe made of Pirarucu, put my orthotics in and they fit like a glove! I'm so excited that I don't have to give up on wearing cowboy boots now!
Never been a fan of square toed boots. I've been wearing pointed X-toe and narrow J-toe boots since the late 80s and early 90s. An old girlfriend of mine also just wore pointed toe boots. I read in a book on cowboy boots that different toe and heel styles all come and go, as well, and come around again.
All I buy is square toe. I've got a small but decent collection of cowboy boots and I've always preferred the squared toe. I also prefer natural colors when it comes to animal skin boots.
I'm 6'2" @ 245pds wearing a 13EE...When your feet and calves are tired from pounding all day.... A Square toe gives that extra room with no pinch and air can circulate a bit. You get a well fitted boot and square toe....it makes a difference.
I grew up wearing pointed toe boots.. and my toes look deformed and twisted... when j started working in construction I started wearing square toe boots.. so much comfortable...I like the Ariots
Pointed toe boots don't squeeze toes by default it's all in the sizing. I've found that much of this myth has come from stores and companies not educating their customers so many people get the wrong size to begin with. Happened to me too. I had my toes cramped for years and thought that was just the way it was but once I got the right size and width I realized toe shape does not correlate to comfort when you have the correct size. That being said, square toes are the most forgiving if you have the wrong size which is another reason why companies push them so much
Bravo 4 I understand, cowboy boots were designed a certain way to ride horses ( to fit a cowboy and everything they do) but what we are saying is that here in Texas people love to wear square toes. I have have boots for going out and ranch work. Both are made to do different things. Squares are comfortable and can be worn all day.
Bravo 4 they just got a bigger toe box so your toes can breath better and not be cramped. I wish you good luck living in west Texas because I could never. I need green in my life.
When I was a kid till about high school, I wore round toe style boots. I stopped wearing boots for a while because they just weren't comfortable. If my toes were comfy, then the boot was too loose and rubbing blisters into my ankles. An old roommate of mine let me borrow a pair of their boots once and they were square toed. I swear that was the most comfortable my foot had ever felt in a boot so i ginally bought some. Now I wear my square toed boots every day. I don't care what they look like. I have sensitive feet, I care how comfortable my foot is.
I’m a 60 year old Texas fella, had pointy🤮, rounds and now squares. The stirrup argument is mute, been on horseback since before I could crawl. Compete in ranch rodeo events, including annually at the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo, won my share of buckles and saddles. Can ride confidently in bare feet, sandals, combat boots (I’m a veteran) or just about anything. Yes square toes are superior in comfort, have three pair of Anderson Bean’s. A real COWBOY doesn’t care about fashion or trends, Wranglers and Pearl Snaps hang in my closet. From head to toe a cowboy is all about utility. Boots are a piece of equipment, plain and simple. A place to mount my spurs and protection from the elements. Just like the sidearm on my hip, knife in my pocket and bandanna (scarf) around my neck. Happy Trails Y’all.
"The stirrup argument is mute..." If there's an argument, then it's not silent. And who's going to be dumb enough to listen to a guy who wears sandals while riding a horse???
@@JeremiahCraig Google cowboy images from the 1870's-80's, lotta square toes on those feet back then. Both styles have been around for a long time. As long as they're not roach killers 🤠👍
Comander Mcgarrett the spanyards wire them while exploring America. They're the most common boot throughout history. More comfortable when they didn't use left and right boots. They also were easier to build and repair.
I used to drive cattle to the market about 25 years ago. Most of the drivers wore boots out of the truck. And sandals inside the truck. The cattle were in 60-80 lb boxes. So many drivers wore safety toe boots. Back in the 70's I rode a motorcycle for commuting. I preferred the sqaure toe harness boot for toe room and a taller boot over the calve. I would have bought the riding boots that went over the knee. But I didn't make that much back then. And when I lived on my sister and brother in laws horse ranch. I wore rubber boots, to deal with all the muck! Today, I have the budget to own all types of boots for work or at home. I have both square and round composite safety toe and regular soft toe. I usually were Keen sandals when not on the job or working on my property. But always carry some kind of boot when driving one of my trucks. Because the side off the road can be very hazardous.
My main complaint on any cowboy boots is that many manufacture's no longer offer the narrow widths like B. No one carries them in the store anymore. Hondo and Ariat , and others have left me high and dry. They say just add an extra cushion sole. Well that sucks, and is not a true fit. Been wearing boots 60+ years. The square toe is also more awkward walking in tall grass. Narrower toes help part the grass, making it less tiring.
I agree. I'm a true B width and I've made it a topic of my channel frequently recently. I feel like it's my responsibility now to help educate everyone on all widths so companies will eventually make more Bs. It really matters
I read. Square toe and round toe were the OG toe types in the beginning. Square for rangers and work, the round toe for riding. Later on, cowboy wanted pointier boots for better slip in for riding horses.
I want to learn how to do that "check that out up here" thing. Also, I like boots on my bike because it helps me stay planted on the pedals. Also... lots of girls like the way guys look in most boots rather than shoes.
Great video Jeremiah, I have snip toes, round toes, traditional toes, regular square toes, and wide square toes, and I like them all but square toes are probably my favorite.
The best thing about square toe cowboy boots is the "fit." When the square toe boots first appeared, I hated them. I considered them a fad that would not last. I thought they were ugly. When I recognized the square toes were here to stay, I bought a pair and have been wearing square toe cowboy boots ever since. I wouldn't wear anything else, and I live in Texas.
After many years not wearing cowboy boots, I recently got a pair of all leather boots with the square toe. I preferred the narrow square but could not find any in my price range. Add to that -- I've owned block-toe motorcycle boots before and liked the look. The cowboy square toe is similar in my view. So, I committed to a pair. Wearing them, I can say they look all right. Manly, definitely the cowboy look in every other respect. Mine have the lower heel which I guess is called a "roper heel" (?). I want to wear them extensively and felt that the taller heel would impede that. Long story short -- I expect to keep them. They are pretty cool and comfortable. Now I have to slather all that leather with shoe conditioner -- because these boots have some heavy-duty breaking in yet to happen!
Finding the right toe shape is my biggest problem. Cannot find a pair I like because the toe is too round or too pointed. I much prefer a classic round toe such as a roper toe. Unfortunately most new boots such as ariats are a extra wide round toe. Cannot stand the style which is tough because an Ariat roper/stockman heel works well with my much needed orthotics.
I just did a video on a Boulet you might like. It's got a U toe. Might be too round but you should check it out ruclips.net/video/3J8VdI0Zjlw/видео.html
Square toe is what got me into boot wearing. I live then and I use them for work.....I'm a case manager. The wide style allows me to get a comfortable fit as i have wide feet that sometimes swell up in heat. I like the look of narrow but I have to get a size bigger and they don't give me the look I like
The first cowboy boots had a tapered square to as jetmobile stated. The also had a tall (around 2”) heel with a spur shelf. The shaft was also tall, somewhere around 18”. And the top of the shaft was even all the way around. No cuts as modern day boots have. Every part of the cowboy boot was designed for a specific purpose.
I’ve always been partial to square and round toe boots because they were common in the old west, the pointed toe boot style didn’t make it to the US until the 1940s, or at least didn’t really become popular till then
With all the world an America political trauma right now, I'm finally delighted to see a serious issue here in NW, square toed cowboy boots! Thanks, Tim
I'm in the saddle at least 5 day's a week, have been for many years. I wear Ariat square toe boots, size 11EE. When your sitting in the saddle 3-4 hours a day, the blood in your legs has a tendency to settle in your feet. It's nice having the wider toe cavity to allow your toes to spread out more. As for the ease of getting your feet in the stirrups easier, if you ride enough that's not even an issue. Wear what's comfortable. Believe me, your horse will notice if your in a bad mood if your feet hurt, and will usually act accordingly.
There is a fashion channel where a woman says she and women hate all square toed footwear on men. They look good to me and are far more practical and comfortable than pointy or round toe boots.
I was told by a working cowboy (i.e., he runs a ranch here in Texas and rides a horse) that he and others prefer square toes because it's easier to mount and dismount. That was interesting and something I'd never considered. I prefer round toes myself. The Sunday-go-to-meetin' comment earlier made me chuckle. I enjoyed your video about the Cuero vs. Tecovas issue. I just ordered a pair of Cueros to try out.
@@JeremiahCraig It is. I don't know where you live but the National Magazine of Texas (Texas Monthly) dedicated its latest issue to boots and boot culture. You can find it online for free.
Here in Brasil there are practically only square toe boots, some ropers and some pointed toes but most of them are square toe's. Brands like Dan Post, Luchese, Abilene and others are like SUPER RARE (I've seen one or two used in my whole life here), they only sell Ariat and Justin for EXTREMELY EXPENSIVE prices (a basic model cost above 1000 reais). In the beginning I hated square toe boots, but after some time I got used to it and now I love them, but pointed toe's and round toe's still own the first place in my heart hahaha
You nailed it. Almost no one rides a horse anymore or even knows how. I still use horses & mules, thus like traditional cowboy boots. It is all about personal comfort & choice. Just get quality boots.
You’re the guy who should be wearing them. Those that don’t - people just assume they’re gay male prostitutes… or wannabees waiting to have a big night at Gilleys….
I have dirty brown everyday square cowboy boots. Timeless style. I have a sharp pair of black square toe, very stylish, for church. Either way, timeless, they never go out of style. Ready for work, a backyard BBQ, or some dining and dancing. Love my boots !!!
I am not a fan of square toes because my toes are tall up and down. Square toes are normally short in that arena but I know my toes are just weird. Edit I wear round toes for clarity
I wear my square toe boots more for working cattle but as far as just what I wear for going out or going to school I have snip toe. Snip toes look really good in my opinion but square toe boots seem a bit better for quick movement around cattle. I mean it's probably more heal based cause my snips have a larger heal than my squares but to each there own I suppose
Hate to tell you that the square toe is traditional as the boots during the 19th century were all square toe. The cowboy boot evolved from the cavalry boot of the civil war era. It is the medium round and snip toe that could be argued as nontraditional in that sense.
Not with the double stitched welt and not all were square toe. Part of the reason why cowboy boots were invented was because folks moving west wanted an easier boot to fit into the stirrup. Yes they have civil war roots but the round toe came about to fix the issues the civil war style boots were causing
@@JeremiahCraig look at photos from the late 19th century of cowboys. All square toe. Designs evolve, tastes change and form will always follow function. Hell, I hate the square toe to be honest. I'm a medium round toe guy myself.
I'm not saying square toe doesn't have a history before cowboy boots. But the first American "cowboy boot" had a round toe to serve a specific purpose www.kshs.org/kansapedia/hyer-cowboy-boots/10301 so the round toe cowboy boot is more traditional by definition.
Weren’t boots/shoes back then made to be worn on either foot? Not a left or right but both made the exact same? I don’t remember where I heard that but any thoughts? I had my first pair of round toe boots about a decade ago and they hurt my feet. I just bought a pair of square toe Dan Post boots and they feel amazing. The sizing you said about the half size down for square toe was spot on for me.
Great video I just wanted to say that I have never seen someone with the same hair colour/invisibrows as myself and it's super cool to see someone that looks like me!
You ought to wear size 14 boot. Been wearing 14's for 50 + years now. There ain't no half sizes available unless you get them custom made. And the wrong size does cause the arch to be in the wrong position. Hell I may just start going like Sasquatch - bare-footed. Since I am 6' 4" & 300 lbs., I may put my ghillie suit on with my cowboy hat & be the first ever seen Cowboy Squatch. I just don't need anyone shooting at me trying to be the first to bag a Squatch. LOL
Eddie Hubbard lol I thought I was big too until I saw Shaquille O’Neal at a Pacers game when he was playing for Miami! Haha that man makes Bigfoot look like his little brother
I grew up in a suburban town that was attached to a major city. My childhood was grounded in good country music (thanks Mom) and going out to the country to stay at my grandparents. I wore cowboy hats for portrait pics and walking around out in the country. I loved the style, but I knew in my high school located in suburbia, I'd be made fun of for dressing that way, so I never did. Say what you want, but the high school social climate matters to over 90% of kids and it did to me too. So I settled with dressing for the times. My high school was mainly Abercrombie, Hollister, Ecko and fubu, mixed with a little punk rock (and no, I didn't wear that stuff lol). Now that I'm 37, watching Yellowstone reignited my love for the western fashion and memories I grew up on. Being married and no longer giving a damn about what people think, I've bought a couple cowboy hats and have purchased a couple of square toe boots as well. Super comfortable and man I love wearing this stuff. I feel.... at home. Thanks for being real and I know, I'm late as hell to this video lol. You got a sub outta me friend. Keep up the good work.
I have two pair of the Dan Post Cowboy Certified square toe and I absolutely love them. I had stopped wearing “cowboy” boots for years because they killed my feet. I bought a pair of the DP Caimans and they are so good I picked up a pair or full quill ostrich.
I have always been a fan of square toe cowboy boots but the only thing I haven’t learn yet is when you buy a new pair of boots your pant legs stick out in the front and back because of the boot, is there a way to make the boot more round and not narrow?
Yesterday (Thursday, 15 Aug 19), I went to buy my first pair of cowboy boots just to find out that my calf muscles are big for the boots' opening. The boots that fit well on my feet, where very tight on my calves. Any advice?
That's a common problem. Look for boots specifically made for wider calves or look for deeper scallops (the v in the boot). Some come way down and give calves more room. Also roper boots are a little bit shorter so you might have luck with that style too
As a cowgirl and professional in the western horse industry the square toe is my go to for working, riding and fashion. 😂 Pointed toe is for dress, square is for work and round is dude ranch . 😂
I'm a Texan and I hate the square toes. I feel like I'm wearing 2x4's strapped to my feet. I'm also older, and they just don't look like 'cowboy' boots to me. I like the look of a snip toe, but don't hardly ever wear 'em.
Lmao 😂 the 2x4's hilarious. I feel the same way. They probably fit me better since I have a wider foot, but I can't do the look. I prefer J and R toe boots
I've got a high arch, narrow heel and wide pad, but I love the Ariat 14ee sportsman western square toe boot. Been wearing a square toe for 15 years and the Ariats to extremely well on steel roofs for grip on a 4/12 pitch. And they always look great!
I just bought my first pair of boots and when I was at the store I couldn't decide on a tapered square or round. I had in my head square toe but actually seeing them on me they looked more like work boots and less feminine to me. I decided on the round toe. I have very small and skinny feet so I don't think I'll have a problem with toe space. It's only been a day and I'm still trying to break them in but so far so good. I still would eventually want to get a tapered square toe and rock the look. :)
My first pair of cowboy boots were Acme brand, with a narrow square toe, somewhere between square and snip toe. And this has just stuck in my mind as proper cowboy boots ever since. I really long for the return of Dan Post El Paso boots, but just a dream more than likely. I have one pair that I cherish. Dan Post told me about two years ago that it has been eleven years since the Dan Post El Paso brand.
Square toe boots look the best and, the most practical. Everyone I’ve ever met wearing any of the pointier boots are afraid to get even some dust on them.
I have 2 pair of boots point tip, 1 snake skin 1 black suede my ex said I looked like an elf bc I'm only 5'4" so that stay with me for some time. What do you think. But I'm looking for square tip boots.

Yup
My main reason for preferring square toe boots is the comfort. My second reason is that I think they look better but that’s my preference. I’m a bigger guy and I think a square toe fits my body better
That's a good point. Sometimes different toe styles look better on different body types. Another benefit of having so many choices out there
The truth is that those "square toe" boots that look like skin diving flippers with the corners rounded off are great for getting to shore if your horse throws you into the river and that's all they're good for.
I bought some boots recently on Cavender's website. You might try that when you want to buy boots if you don't find what you want out there.
Love ‘em.
I'm with you I cannot stand the look and cannot find anything in Texas in round toe
Look on facebook marketplace, i live in fort worth and there is a crap ton of non box toe boots in there just look. Lot of good finds on marketplace. Mostly people selling old boots that they inherited and box toes just came here recently.
I live in West Texas too, man. What part are you in? I’m in Odessa Midland.
We’re just not the real working, horse-riding cowboys anymore. The medium-round toe will always be a classic but it just ain’t relevant in working cattle anymore. Even the real Traditional hard core cowboys prefer square toes to the round toes.
I get it. Still I respect all toe shapes and reasons for wearing them. Like I said in the video, as long as folks are wearing cowboy boots, I'm happy
Speak for yourself i work cattle everyday in west Texas in my square toes just sayin
They are comfortable, I prefer em over pointed or round toe, but for ridin bulls an saddle broncs I always wear a narrower toe
I disagree. The real boots are mexican J-toed boots. Its my heritage not yours i would know more
Cody have you considered getting them is wide or double or triple wide?
Square toe is used ALLOT! More than you actually think. They are so versatile but their main use is for something more casual.
Square toes is the only way to go! All my family here in Texas wear square toes
Same, the only pair of pointed toe boots I have are black dress boots that I keep polished and I've had 2 years to break them in so it's not much of a problem.
Definitely 💪😎 Centex here and gotta rock the squares man. Just got the Ariat Workhog VentTek Carbon toes for work and they're 🔥🔥🔥🔥
That figures.
I have boots of every toe shape and I love them all
Never been a fan of square toed boots.
Right!? I never knew until this year. I completely understand now
I grew up wearing pointed toe boots.. and my toes look deformed and twisted... when j started working in construction I started wearing square toe boots.. so much comfortable...I like the Ariots
That being said, square toes are the most forgiving if you have the wrong size which is another reason why companies push them so much
Square toe are just in style right now. It’s been like this for 11 years or so
Here in Texas we all wear these
I never see anything else here
Bravo 4 I understand, cowboy boots were designed a certain way to ride horses ( to fit a cowboy and everything they do) but what we are saying is that here in Texas people love to wear square toes. I have have boots for going out and ranch work. Both are made to do different things. Squares are comfortable and can be worn all day.
Bravo 4 they just got a bigger toe box so your toes can breath better and not be cramped. I wish you good luck living in west Texas because I could never. I need green in my life.
I live in east Texas too but if your talking about working in them that’s a different story buddy
@Bravo 4 id have to disagree i ain’t had much problem wearing wide square toes while riding fit comfortably didn’t get caught or nothin like that
I got pointy cowboy boots and square boots. Squares are more comfy.but point toes better if going for more accurate cowboy boots.
Nice
I been on a lot of farms and all of the stockyards around here. Never saw a hand wearing square toes boots.
Epic comment 👌 Thanks for sharing!
Great, bro! Nothing to add.👍
"The stirrup argument is mute..." If there's an argument, then it's not silent. And who's going to be dumb enough to listen to a guy who wears sandals while riding a horse???
i like both worlds of cowboy boots
I belive the square toed boots have existed for 100 years. Alot of ariat square toes are for work.
You're right they have but the first American cowboy boot was round toe
Longer than 100 years..over 150 years.
@@JeremiahCraig Google cowboy images from the 1870's-80's, lotta square toes on those feet back then. Both styles have been around for a long time. As long as they're not roach killers 🤠👍
Comander Mcgarrett I only use ariats & square toe🤘🏻 best way to go
Comander Mcgarrett the spanyards wire them while exploring America.
Weird though the only people I've seen wearing squares are the yee yee country posers while everyone I ride horses with has round toes 🤣
Square toe are better for working but not better for riding not everyone does ride
You Always have great videos ....can’t wait for the next boot review
Thanks! Coming soon!
I read. Square toe and round toe were the OG toe types in the beginning. Square for rangers and work, the round toe for riding. Later on, cowboy wanted pointier boots for better slip in for riding horses.
The current wide square toe with the double stitch welt was first made in 1989 making it the most recent and modern
toe shape
Every time I come across your channel, I think of the video from a few years back were you wore cowboy boots with golf pants. That was fun.
haha thanks that was fun!
I want to learn how to do that "check that out up here" thing. Also, I like boots on my bike because it helps me stay planted on the pedals. Also... lots of girls like the way guys look in most boots rather than shoes.
Um, yeah. But engineer boots and biker boots... not THOSE freakin' flippers, haha!
Stag.352 nope. Girls like cowboy boots, bud.
Great video Jeremiah, I have snip toes, round toes, traditional toes, regular square toes, and wide square toes, and I like them all but square toes are probably my favorite.
Thanks Moses! I can't wait to have more toe styles too. They are all worth owning. No doubt!
I'm actually happy these are in style and trendy but just to mention I've wore boots even when it wasn't cool
I like the look of narrow but I have to get a size bigger and they don't give me the look I like
Love square toe boots I wear boots all day everyday and find them way more comfortable and personally think they look better
Thanks, Tim
Hahaha tell me about it!! Thanks for watching
In South Carolina it don’t matter if you white or Mexican we all love the square toe.
facts
LOL
I prefer the more pointy two cowboy boots
@@the_redneck_norsemen4040 some actually look nice but my all time favorite are square toe
There’s Mexicans in southern Carolina?
I'm in the saddle at least 5 day's a week, have been for many years. I wear Ariat square toe boots, size 11EE. When your sitting in the saddle 3-4 hours a day, the blood in your legs has a tendency to settle in your feet. It's nice having the wider toe cavity to allow your toes to spread out more. As for the ease of getting your feet in the stirrups easier, if you ride enough that's not even an issue. Wear what's comfortable. Believe me, your horse will notice if your in a bad mood if your feet hurt, and will usually act accordingly.
Wearing boots 50 years now, I still prefer round toe.
i use to wear everyday my square toe boots but they are the biker ones with harness on both sides... and I LOVE THEM
There is a fashion channel where a woman says she and women hate all square toed footwear on men. They look good to me and are far more practical and comfortable than pointy or round toe boots.
I like square toe on dress shoes too. I too have heard square toes are fashion faux pas, but why?
I saw that too. I don't like her
Which boots were you showing? Both pair please.
Both are Dan Post. Thin Red Line is on the right and the full quill Diamond Pro is on the left
@@JeremiahCraig thank you. Love the diamond pro's. Look good.
Yeah it's super fun to hear all the different perspectives and opinions! Glad you enjoyed the Cuero v Tecovas!
Thanks Byron! It's been fun to see this polarize people though. I respect all toe shapes and reasons for wearing them
Byron LaBelle I agree, square toes suck for riding, especially saddle bronc ridin where they get hung up real easy.
You’re the guy who should be wearing them. Those that don’t - people just assume they’re gay male prostitutes… or wannabees waiting to have a big night at Gilleys….
What about the medium square toe boots?, do they provide enough room for your toes too?
They all have enough room for your toes if you get the right size. It's just about how much extra room do you want.
I'm in LA with some square toes and I love em, they get hella looks brotha
I have dirty brown everyday square cowboy boots. Timeless style. I have a sharp pair of black square toe, very stylish, for church. Either way, timeless, they never go out of style. Ready for work, a backyard BBQ, or some dining and dancing.
Love my boots !!!
I am not a fan of square toes because my toes are tall up and down. Square toes are normally short in that arena but I know my toes are just weird.
Edit I wear round toes for clarity
I wear R-toe boots but am interested in squares. Not the broad/wide square toe but the more narrow square. Thanks for sharing your video 😊
True that. I respect all toe styles. They all have great uses! Snip toe is such a good look too
I have a pair of square toes. How does sizing go for the round toe boots.
But the first American "cowboy boot" had a round toe to serve a specific purpose www.kshs.org/kansapedia/hyer-cowboy-boots/10301 so the round toe cowboy boot is more traditional by definition.
cause your a city slicker
Weren’t boots/shoes back then made to be worn on either foot? Not a left or right but both made the exact same? I don’t remember where I heard that but any thoughts? I had my first pair of round toe boots about a decade ago and they hurt my feet. I just bought a pair of square toe Dan Post boots and they feel amazing. The sizing you said about the half size down for square toe was spot on for me.
Great video I just wanted to say that I have never seen someone with the same hair colour/invisibrows as myself and it's super cool to see someone that looks like me!
glad to see your sporting a new hair style, looks pro and most rodeo cowboys are wearing square toes!
Thanks Dale! Most everyone is wearing square toe. from what I've seen with the people who watch my channel about 75% prefer square toes
Square Toe Boots helps, when you get older after years of narrow toe boots from your toes crossing-up on you .
Same case - never thought about square toe, but now I gonna try it.
Always favored Frye or Double H harness boots with the smaller square toe: best looking boots ever.
Two great brands for sure
I have two pair of the Dan Post Cowboy Certified square toe and I absolutely love them. I had stopped wearing “cowboy” boots for years because they killed my feet. I bought a pair of the DP Caimans and they are so good I picked up a pair or full quill ostrich.
A lot of the guys I work with wear em (but we're pipefitters, not cowboys & girls)
I have always been a fan of square toe cowboy boots but the only thing I haven’t learn yet is when you buy a new pair of boots your pant legs stick out in the front and back because of the boot, is there a way to make the boot more round and not narrow?
Thanks for your comments. However, as you say, "But Jeremiah, they're UGLY!" Ugly cancels out comfort. Otherwise we would all be wearing Croc's, haha!
Haha point taken but I seem to remember Crocs having a moment in fashion too!
@Self Employed nah I rock a pair of crocs when not wearing boots wym
They aren't ugly, they're functional. Try wearing a pair of pointy toes all day in the saddle or at work and see how that goes.
Also roper boots are a little bit shorter so you might have luck with that style too
I wear a square toe Because I wear them for working all day, I refuse to wear pointed or rounded toe, square is all we wear in MN

What about the wedge sole?
I'm a Texan and I hate the square toes. I feel like I'm wearing 2x4's strapped to my feet. I'm also older, and they just don't look like 'cowboy' boots to me. I like the look of a snip toe, but don't hardly ever wear 'em.
Haha I can understand that
Lmao 😂 the 2x4's hilarious.
I like more narrow square toes not to wide.
Yeah the half Moon or 7 toe is an awesome look
Me too
I just bought my first pair of boots and when I was at the store I couldn't decide on a tapered square or round. :)
dont worry man we lost California a long time ago.
Ha, yeah
My first pair of cowboy boots were Acme brand, with a narrow square toe, somewhere between square and snip toe. And this has just stuck in my mind as proper cowboy boots ever since. I really long for the return of Dan Post El Paso boots, but just a dream more than likely. I have one pair that I cherish. Dan Post told me about two years ago that it has been eleven years since the Dan Post El Paso brand.
Square toe boots look the best and, the most practical. Everyone I’ve ever met wearing any of the pointier boots are afraid to get even some dust on them.
There are plenty of round toe wearers who don't mind dirty boots!
