      I have this issue too, half a size down and my right foot front goes to sleep after a while, go up half a size and they feel too big, especially in the heel. So do I suffer with the smaller ones and hope they break in, or go with the ones that fit the front of my foot but they may get looser over time?!? I can compensate a bit with thick socks on the larger size though.

    I’m stuck between sizes and can’t decide what to do. If I go down half a size the heel movement is perfect but they feel snug around the front of my foot to the point one of my feet went numb after wearing for a couple hours. If I go up half a size the front of my foot is snug but doesn’t go to sleep, but the heel has too much movement. I can’t decide if I shoutout go smaller and hope they stretch and break in, or go big and see if the heel movement lowers over time.

    • @Chisos
      @Chisos  3 месяца назад +1

      I always recommend going smaller and breaking them in! Our insole is pretty thick, so what has worked for some customers is replacing our insole with a thinner insole during the break in process, then switching back to the Chisos insole once the leather has softened!

    What if the boot is comfortable in the toe box, but loose in the vamp? I’m getting like 3/4-1” of heel slip and a sloppy vamp, but the width and length are comfortable. Current boot is 12 EE.

    • @Chisos
      @Chisos  4 месяца назад

      I would go down to either a 12 D or an 11.5 EE to reduce that slip.
      Alternatively, if you're wearing Chisos, you could get a very thin insole. Cut out just the rear 1/3 and place it under the Chisos insole in the heel area. That will serve to make the rear of the boot fit a little more snug!

    I love Chisos quality based on my buddy who has met Will and picked up a pair, but I disagree with Will; you can't beat a quality hard leather, permanent insole (when fitted correctly). Yes it takes time to break in as he mentioned, but quality absolutely suffers by cutting that corner in my opinion. Removable synthetic insoles are not as durable and will need replacing; and do not mold to your foot permanently to perfection like a hard leather insole. And it really doesn't lock that foot in place like a traditional hard leather insole (in my experience albeit I have not tried Chisos insoles, but this has been claimed by many bootmakers and they never feel as good in my experience). It is the only thing holding me back from your boots because I love the offerings and the quality everywhere else. Till then I gotta stick with my Hondos. Traditional through and through for a better price and equal quality construction. One day I will have to bite the bullet because they look too damn good and Will just seems like a good dude, but I just have PTSD from every other boot manufacturer telling me how great their insoles are.

    Love watching videos like this. Half sizes are just a way to tease people. I should wear a 13.5. Nobody makes a 13.5. So I either have heels sliding around in 14s or get a python squeeze in a 13. • @Chisos
      @Chisos  9 месяцев назад

      Ultimately, it's your personal preference that matters! Generally speaking, however, I would try a half size down. You don't want to slip to the front. In the meantime, try thicker socks. Or even put some thin material in just the heel area to make them fit a little tighter. Cheers on getting your first boots!

    I CAN NOT find a cowboy boot to fit my feet. I have a long foot, wide toe box and a super flat/thin knuckle area just before the ankle. I've tried almost everything to get boots to fit and the closest I can get is finding an all leather boot made without an insole and adding my own to fill up the space. If I size down, my toes get absolutely squashed, if I get a narrow (which no one makes) they are more snug on the front half of my foot but almost no improvement around the vamp area when snugness really matters. I am ready to give up 😆

    You don’t offer any wide sizing E/EE. I’m not into sizing up to accommodate for width when the length becomes excessive (keeping in mind most leather footwear accounts for to wiggle and adds about 1-1.5inch in length.) How do you accommodate for this variance in foot width? Is Your D standardized like most shoes. In most leather I’m EE. But i wear a standard 11D in Vans sk8 high/ Jordan 1 mid, without any fitment issues. Which doesn’t translate to leather. One brands E = D (engineer boots)

    I want a pair of cowboy boots but I have one major concern... Well two actually. 1. I have extremely wide feet. 2. I don't want to get bunions. I've tried on running shoes with a "wide toe box" and my toes still felt extremely squished. Is it a bad idea to size up so that the widest part of the boot is at my toes so the boot is more anatomical and foot shaped or am I completely mad?
    Thanks!
    TLDR: Can I size up boots to allow the boots widest part to be at my toes and let them REALLY splay out or am I completely mad?

    • @Chisos
      @Chisos  10 месяцев назад +1

      They sound a little loose. But, ultimately, if you like 'em the way they are, then it's fine. If you want less heel sleep, add a really thin insole. If it cramps your toes, then cut it to only be under your heel. Obviously try thicker socks. You could also press in the sides of the heel counter with your hands to make it tighter.

      Yes, that is expected. The origin of the "toe bug"-the piping and stitching on top of that part of your foot-is to hide this inevitable crease in cowboy boots. As you break in the leather, softening it, and bending it in that spot repeatedly, it is going to form a crease.
