Thank you so much for posting this video. I am newly diagnosed with diabetes. I had no idea how to set up my meter or lancet, your video was very easy to understand. Thank you so much!
The Lancet/Needle can be poked into the round cover, so it is safer! And don't use the first bit of blood, it may contain tissue/skin/water, use the second drop for precise messurement.
We just purchased the Contour Next ONE and are not impressed! Even though there is now a yellow banner on the box, saying "New", the only thing that seems to be `new', is that they no longer provide the 10 testing strips or the Control Solution in the box. After getting home and trying to set up the meter for testing, I read on page 33 of the manual that we should use the Control Solution before the first use, as well as after opening a new bottle of testing strips. Since we had no idea that we even needed this Control Solution BEFORE we purchased the meter and strips, we cannot confidently use the meter until we return to the pharmacy ( 45 minutes away) to buy the CS. So, it appears that what is NEW, is that Ascensia has gotten CHEAP.
You are definitely right that they should include lancets, strips and control solution in the package. You can give bayer ascension a call on Monday if you have time. I believe bayer has good customer service. You can explained the situation, they should help you out this way. In the past, I called meter is working but test strips are not reading correctly in the machine, bayer always helping to reset it and make it work again or send replacement. In the mean time, you can use the machine without control solution for now. Contour is one the good brand (if they can make the strip less expensive, it will help a lot)
@@dareenrose6550 one of my friend suggested me for Ambrosia device, now I am using it for last 6 months which always track me the glucose, insulin, exercise on one platform and I am able to extend the life of my sensor with the help of Blucon for another 14 days.
Thanks for posting this video. I wish these folks would develop their app for Android, not just Apple. It would be nice to download my blood sugar results at home, too.
Well, that was frustrating... Level 1 and 2 on the Lancing Device did NOT work for me. I got errors on the first two testing strips. It didn't work properly until I used Level 4 on the Lancing Device.
Sorry to hear that: you need to try the best setting that fits you the most. Another thing is different brand of lancets has slightly longer or shorter needles. My suggestion is once it’s good number setting for you, stick with the same brand. This will make your experience a lot easier especially if you need to test everyday.
The results cant be sync with phone and save online? If yes, can we export the results or sync to google fit or apple health for example? Or export to a file to send/share to my doctor? Thanks
I am newly diagnosed with diabetes and I got one of these kits. My doctor said it's not necessary to test at the very beginning but I still want to. I'll be honest, I'm kind of a wuss and scared of the needle. Does it hurt at all?
@@yvettechaidez nowadays these machine is a lot better. You don’t need a lot of blood at all. Work on the number in your lancet pen. Adjust the level to fit your finger pinching
We did check our blood sugar twice. I'm wondering if it's normal to this machine to have 2 different readings in a matter of 10 minutes check? I got 5.8 then 5.3 reading in a matter of 10monutes. Is this normal?
Nowadays the machine is pretty accurate. for contour next meter, I did a demo for control solution. I believe you don't need to use control solution if you don't have one. They are good. You can use control solution if you see out of control range reading for yourself. you can always contact the toll free number on the back of the machine. contour representatives are very helpful and patient
Is there a way to see the total daily insulin taken either on the blood monitor, which unfortunately is not possible and was possible for the old Lifescan Ultrasmart meter I used. But is there some way to see a calculation in any other figures that can be a calculated in the APP?
The components in this kit are absolutely huge! Much prefer the Verio flex one touch system. Works great and is much more compact. Unfortunately my insurance company is making me change to this one, probably because it’s cheaper
How do you charge it? I found the charging port but doesn't seem like it charges... after I had it charging for long time the charger bar doesn't go up.
My hand has many needle holes today I was wrong doing because I applied blood on top of the strip, machine asking me more blood 😅 🤣 thanks for the video so now I have to make another hole for the first test🤧😰
@@EmmarcoPro The reading was from the "Fake Blood." But seems to be operating properly as i've been comparing my readings from the Contour next with the ones from my clinic visits and they're pretty much on par (so perhaps the test solution is bad).
@@nilomyki I see, you meant the testing solution result at 152. You need to compare the 152 with the number on the test strips bottle. If the range fall in between, then it is good.
Thank you for the video what does level one mean? It says 38-47 And level two says 112 to 140 … I had a pretty big meal and I came in at 112 three hours after
I have recently purchased this kit, but it is completely useless. I have the lancer set to level 5, but it barely even breaks the skin on my fingers and doesn't break the skin at all on my hand. The amount of blood that comes out is microscopic. You couldn't even say it is a drop, just a very small red dot. The machine cannot register such a small amount of blood. I have gone through 20 or so test strips, but not once has the machine managed to read my blood. I took the machine back to where I purchased it and exchanged it for a new one. Still, the same problem with a new machine. The lancer is too weak to cause significant enough penetration and bleeding.
It sounds to me it is not the machine or the test strips. It is the Lancet Gauge. The usual Gauge, the most common ones are 29, 30, 31 or even 32. the bigger the number the smaller the needle (hurts less) . It depends on how thick is one's skin(by profession or other). If it is not enough blood, you can try to buy the 27 or 28 gauge lancets. I would just imaging it will hurt a little, but you should get blood out easier this way. Hopefully it will work for you.
Just saw this message now. This company is really good. There is a phone number on the back of the machine. Give them a call. A rep will walk you through for reset and it doesn’t work, you can request to have a free replacement. Hope this will help your family.
I'm under the impression that you are not supposed to squeeze the blood out like that because the sample can be contaminated by other things in the blood caused by the stress of squeezing the cells in your finger?
Making sure when you insert the strip, push all the way in. Insert strip first. Then do the needle stick finger get the blood. If not too much blood, warm your hand a little and use a level 3 in the pen
I don't know why our insurance has us using this system, it does not seem to allow you to electronically keep up with your readings. I miss the One Touch, much more user-friendly.
My insurance insurance forced this tester on me and I won't use it. I don't want my tester sending reports back to home base. No glucose tester should be connected to a phone app or a cell tower, total invasion of medical privacy.
The setup is about time, date and reminder of meal or fast. Pretty straight forward. You can press the bottom and try for yourself. Hope you can get through it with ease
Couldn't agree more. In the app the high readings are white on orange. No contrast. Really difficult to see. The test result graphs are not intuitive. Results are arranged by time of day and not by calander days. The 1970's era display on the meter is poor as well. This appears to be the replacement for the contour next USB. The USB port charged the batteries. This new one does not. The contour next one is a tremendous leap. Backwards.

the best ideal way is to not squeeze. However the reality is the blood comes out really little if you don’t squeeze a little
