This is fascinating. I always see orion like always, because its like the only constellation i know and can easily pick out from the stars. Didnt know gemini is just next to it 😂 and a lot more other constellation
For 50 years I've been looking at the night sky and wanting to know as much as possible about what's up there. These videos have enabled me to do that and are therefore very special to me ... Thank you so much. These are special videos that prompt and test just the right things to enable me to look enquiringly at the sky and progressively work my way across it.
My favorite part of Gemini is that Pollux traded half his immortality so that his twin brother Castor (who was mortal) could spend half the year in Olympus and half the year in Hades. Pollux is pulling him from Hades with their shared hand and Castor is being dragged to the underworld with his left leg. That's why Pollux's heart is brighter, he is the true immortal. They only get to meet in June at the equinox as one passes to the underworld and the other passes to Olympus. This is more than a constellation it is a story about true love between two brothers.
I'm glad the practice part helped. Being able to see the constellation many different ways in pictures is a great way to practice. Stay tuned, I will be releasing classes soon!
I LOVE your practice to find the constellations in the night sky and was immediately hooked by your explanations...! Will now look out for more videos and constellations... Thank you so very much... 😊👍
Yes, Gemini is super easy for me to find as well. Scorpius is one of my favorites. When I moved to Hawaii, as soon as I got off the plane it was the first constellation I saw, and it was the first time I saw it in its entirely. Where I grew up I could only see a portion of it. Thanks for coming back to watch!
8:51 had an "OH SHIT I SEE IT" moment! I've always loved Orion's belt growing up even have freckles that match so it was super easy to see my husband stars in the sky
This makes me smile. When my two daughters were toddler age and they had trouble falling asleep, I'd set up a blanket outside and we would watch the stars. I found it was the fastest way for them to fall asleep. There is something really peaceful about watching the stars. Definitely good memories.
Four years late but at about 8:00 minutes, you say here is Gemini at Sunset, but it can't be as you show Taurus is higher in the sky and Gemini & Orion are together "laying down on their sides" on the horizon. I think you mean sunrise. Gemini & Orion rise together on their sides, but both set standing up with Orion setting first with Gemini setting hours later.
@4:30 you can see a picture of a portrait of a person if you look at the picture just right. i can see the ear the face and the shoulder and body i cant see the eyes and nose but i can see the hair chin and even neck and shirt.
I've never had a problem. I actually have my students find the Arc of Capella...... None of them have ever had a difficulty finding that.... From that...Orion on one side, Leo on the other ..then going from there....
And for me, the observation is not easy job cause I don't have choices to do it in a parking lot in my town of Montreal. Fortunately we sometimes have beautiful sky and I found a way to block a bit the light in the parking lot behind my apartment. I have a very low buget telescope, but it work nicely for the minimum , nicely enough to get some poor young neighbors in my area to feel very curious around me and I don't always have answers for them but we have FUN here in Montreal island! !💙💚💛
Thanks for the video and sharing your knowledge. I just bought my wife a nice telescope, she's very interested in Astrology and Astronomy, and she is a Gemini. We live on the South-Central Oregon Coast. The sky 🌌 here is simply breathtaking and so clear compared to every other place all around the globe where we have lived. I noticed in a comment that you either live or did live in Hawaii at one time. My wife and I are actually really thinking about moving there soon. We move all around the world and frequently. Though Oregon is the best place in the 48 US Continental States we've lived, it has some downsides... like the fact that we live in an actual Temperate Rain Forest. ☔️ 🌲 So because of that, about half the year is extremely cold, wet, and windy. But it's always nice and green! Hawaii looks a lot like the Oregon Coast minus our enormous evergreen trees 🌲... but it's warm there and we can spend more time outside doing sports and taking pictures (both of us are photographers/videographers/graphic designers/animators... oh and very much into extreme sports, especially water sports and skydiving)... Trying to skydive 🛩 or do any water sport 🤽♂️ 🏄🏿 up here causes my wife to suffer from epileptic seizures. Things like extreme cold trigger seizures in some people with the disease. Shame. Thanks again for this video and your other uploads! This will help me charm my wife with the new telescope! 😊
Hi Luke, Thanks for your comment. It's great that you bought your wife a telescope. Feel free to use share these videos with her to help her find the constellations and other cool things. I understand what you mean about having a clear sky. I grew up in Pennsylvania, but where I live in Hawaii the sky is incredible. Good luck with viewing the sky!
I love this but I have a question, I’ve seen this gemini constellation and the one that looks like this sign “ ♊️ “ (has an almost rectangular shape and has less stars) instead of basically 2 literal stick figure twins 👯♀️ like shown in this video. I wanna get a gemini constellation necklace/pendant done and just wanna know which one is the original or right one? Everytime I search up Gemini constellation it shows this one and the other one, don’t wanna get the wrong one done 😩 lol. Hope you could respond❣️
Hello! It is common to see variations in star patterns when it comes to the constellations, especially with the zodiacal constellations. In terms of astronomy, here is the official star pattern released by the International Astronomical Union for Gemini: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gemini_%28constellation%29#/media/File:Gemini_IAU.svg However, there are also designated symbols for the constellations of the zodiac, which can be different than the actual star pattern. What you are describing sounds like the symbol for Gemini. The only kind of jewelry I've seen are of the symbol, not necessarily the star pattern. I think as long as you know what your pendant is, that is what is most important. Cheers! :)
Not a dumb question at all. If you are a Gemini, the sun was traveling through that constellation on the day of your birthday. Another way of looking at it is that Gemini was out during the day on your birthday. You don’t really get to see your constellation until 6 months later. I hope this helps
The birds are actually from outside my house in Hawaii. My office is on a porch, so you are hearing them chatter. If the birds aren’t chirping, then it’s the coqui frogs at night. Occasionally a rooster will interrupt my recordings.
I have a quastion mrs Janine: the brightest stars called alpha, but why do some Constellations like Orion, and also Gemini, they have a brightest star but its Beta, can you make a video about Alpha and beta stars?
Great question. The naming system you are referring to is called the Bayer Classification system, and it was created by German astronomer Johann Bayer in 1603. He ordered the stars by class (1st magnitude, 2nd magnitude, etc…), but he didn’t try to arrange them according to their relative brightness to each other. He also assigned letters according to their location in the pattern or by the order of their rising. In Bayer’s time, stellar brightness was not able to be measured precisely like it is today with scientific instruments either. Out of the 88 constellations, there are 30 alpha stars that are not the brightest stars of the constellations. Confusing, eh? There’s much more to say about this, so I will probably need to do a video in the future to help clarify.
Hi Janine, How are you? Today I remembered you, our Hawaiian teacher! Right now NASA is flying an aircraft over a Hawaii's volcano to do some research.
Banda host Gabrielle! 2010! Castor having a 'cast' is a phrase I use to help me remember the difference between Castor and Pollux. The shape of Castor's leg in the star pattern is unique when compared to Pollux. I hope that helps to clarify. :)
My office has large screen windows, and I pick up a lot of sounds from the wild chickens and turkeys that roam the property. This is why I often record as night, except I usually pick up the sounds of the coqui frogs. :)
This shit is so crazy. I’m a Gemini and I just had my first child. It was a boy and for some odd reason the only name I could think to name him was Roman. Idk if it’s coincidence or it’s something I did subconsciously knew I was doing. Either way it’s cool.

You should explore the Southern Hemisphere too. If you say you are comfortable to bring constellations from the Northern Hemisphere perspective only, you will be limited some how in your presentations... Henceforth you won't have ideas about the Southern Hemisphere..
Thank you for your comment. My ultimate goal is to spend time living in the Southern Hemisphere so I can learn the constellations there. Using only pictures to learn them can be challenging. I want to be able to really see them and know them before teaching them.
This comment makes me chuckle...I recorded this when I lived in Hawaii, and back then I could not escape the sounds of the feral chickens no matter what I did! I started to record at night because at least the chickens were sleeping. But then I had the coqui frog issue...finding silence to record is a never ending challenge for me.
I've been looking for authentic sources about the stories of the stars from Africa for years. If you have suggestions, feel free to pass them along. And yes, it is difficult to report on every single story that exists. There are as many mythological stories throughout the world as the are number of stars.

Thank you. I really appreciate your feedback.
This channel is gold mine for beginners like me.
I just found your channel. I signed up for astronomy in college hoping to learn this. Never did. Thank you SO much for these amazing videos!
Excellent presentation. In particular I liked your practice constellations. Extremely informative and interesting presentation.💫

Your really helping me in my Bible Studies thank you
Wonderful. So interesting, well described, amazingly knowledgeable. Greatly presented. Please make more videos. Thank you.
these videos are so beautiful im driving to places with low light pollution; the sky is hallucinogenic without city lights
Today, Mai 12 over Montreal,Ca ,the sky is perfect for practice constellation, the big dipper is right over my head ! It's cool for orientation, ..
..
Excellent video to identify constellations ever 👍
Extremely impressive, I always looking Orion but I didn't know if I can find other constellations #Great job
I Crossed Over To The Other Side Within The Sign Of Gemini 24/5/24, Dragon - Blue, merci.

Thank you. I learned how to find Gemini! I was out at 3:00am to see Geminids meteorite shower.
thank u this is very helpful much love
I have god blessing! We just recently had twin Gemini boys!
I'm in Staten island by the ferry I'm looking right at my twins in the sky
FYI, Delta Gem is the closest resembling star
to our solar system & more over, our solar system with all the planets are moving towards it.
Informative video thank you!

Castor is called *पुनर्वसु नक्षत्र(Punarvasu Nakshatra)* in India.

Do y’all think we can see light years away?
1 light year is 5.88 trillion miles away so my my eye can see something 208 trillion miles away and I can’t even drive at night without glasses
Gemini Dream great song
I saw gemini in the Philippines at night!!
Oh my phone was in the room and I'm on outside... Sorry..
All of her pronunciations wrong or mine?
are there chicks chirping in the back throughout this?
No, coqui frogs. They are everywhere on the Big Island of Hawai’i, and are a bit of a noise problem.
I'm still A kid so I still dont know
