      I think that the reason that they don't release and follow the drugs to the headquarters, is because their job is to ensure that they keep the borders safe and that no drugs enter the country. They probably hand over the investigation to the drug busters for further investigation after confiscating the drugs.

    Another lesson the people who sent her with the drugs have learned: Have your mule dress more like a 'businessperson'. If you're going to go and conduct business selling machine parts or whatever, maybe tell your mule not to wear a ripped sweatshirt and leggings.

The reason for that is Australia is so far away from any other country and we have super tight border security

      ⁠its highly likely that she cooperated with the AFP and gave up the people she was importing for and/or did a controlled delivery for those people. Or there was some issue with evidence and they couldn’t pin the full charge on her. And the agent also said it was a MAXIMUM of life, they rarely give out a life sentence for something like a first offence and they cooperated. I’m sure the courts didn’t just Willy nilly give her a 1/3 of a max sentence for no reason lol

      Since I am not a drug dealer/user, I do not know about the prices of drugs. But this may be the case of supply and demand. Drugs may be much cheaper in the U.S., because there are plenty of them; but they may be a lot more expensive in Australia, because there are not a whole lot of them.
      Another example would be the pistol. In the U.S., you could get one for less than $1,000. But if you were to, successfully, smuggle one into Taiwan, then it could fetch up to more than $10,000.

    Brilliant smuggling on the face of it....BUT not brilliant enough to succeed. It's a good thing they did not contain dynamite....although the video, and the employees, would have gone viral.

    I keep wondering WHY the sentencing is SO LITTLE!!!!! 8 AND A HALF YRS FOR OVER 15 MILLION DOLLARS WORTH OF ILLEGAL DRUGS??? NO WONDER THEY KEEP TRYING!!!
