House Velaryron is what happens when you do dynastic marriages right. The old king understood the assignment...marry the princess to the richest house in the realm with the greatest fleet of ships, solidifying them as an ally under the crown. He brought ships and wealth, she brought dragons and dragonrider blood. A fantastic match. If only Viserys had done his job and married someone who actually brings something to the table we wouldn't have had The Dance of Dragons.
Bro the hell are you going on about. The Hightowers were and are even to the date of GOT one of the most powerful, rich and influential houses in Westeros, the Velaryons meanwhile had only really risen to prominence rather recently because of Corlys. If anything, the issue came from having two powerful houses linked to the throne rather than just one.
By permitting the match, the old king gave the Velaryons a claim to the throne that could threaten his house. He should have wed Rhaenys and Viserys to each other to unite their claims. Fortunately for Jaehaerys, the Great Council chose Viserys over Rhaenys, allowing the Targaryens to keep the throne for another century and more.
@@joemama-qy4fb Your opinion is strong, but could very well have sped up their downfall. Part of the Targaryon downfall in the books was the inbreeding, as it led to mad kings. As well, Westeros had low opinions of inbreeding until the Targaryans came. And they only made their opinion on it worse.
@@VA_Nightshade Considering that only a minority of Targaryens were mad (6 at most, at least 3 of whom became mad due to events that happened during their lives rather than being mad from birth) despite the family practicing incest for centuries, it's highly unlikely that Targaryen incest was a cause of madness. In fact, 2 of the remaining 3 Targaryens who might have been mad from birth were products of non-incestuous unions.
The way the Targaryen’s operated it makes me wonder what Westeros would’ve been like if one of the greater valaryon houses arrived there instead of them
The Targaryens were considered a “lesser” house in old Varlyeria. The amount of dragons a house had determined their rank, so if a better house than the Targaryens made it to Westeros they would’ve had WAY more dragons.
Not pissed, I actually loved it but I don't exactly understand how did they happen to be? Can someone explain? Because the targaryens breed with one another so they can keep their genes so how did the valerian family have white hair?
@@Society_is_braindead I have a theory: the fair skinned ancestors of the dragon rider Valyrians, the goat herders, lived primarily inland where the forests and caves were near the volcanoes, when they eventually interacted with dragons and dragon eggs. The darker skinned Valyrians lived primarily on the coasts where they were a coastline people, surviving off the sea before they became a seafaring people, making their livelihood off of sea voyaging and sea trade.
Lol 6 months ago everyone was getting pissy and mad cuz they made House Velaryon black but now every one is like “Yeah boi look at those gangstas. Fo shizzle!” Y’all got some fuckin nerve
There could have been a similar powerful alliance power marriage between Daemon and Laena if the producers would have allowed for it in the HBO adaptation...always got to fck up something...but House Valeryon still badass MFs on their own merit...MAD DRIP
The Dance weakened House Valeryon greatly, and they sided with the Targaryens during Robert’s Rebellion. They weren’t in GOT because they were no longer a powerful house.

They slayed that entrance. Looking like a bag of money.
Well... They are rich AF ;)
But I 100% agree, that entrance was savage

I´ll accept that as the official version. House Velaryon doesn´t need introductions, their entrance music is well known in westeros.
Their hair is stylish as fuck you can't deny that.
Valyrian swag runs thick in the veins of house velaryon.
Their swag survived the Doom! And a thousand tribulations besides!
Lord Corlys DOPEryon, Master of DRIPmark and Lord of the RIDEs
He's an icon, he's a legend, he's the moment
So much power in this one entrance scene , I love it 😻
House Velaryon gangsters 😂
😂😂😂😂😂
Velaryon's invented the Valerian High Swag
The way the Targaryen’s operated it makes me wonder what Westeros would’ve been like if one of the greater valaryon houses arrived there instead of them
i thought in the books valeryon did come first in westeros but they did not conquered it because they were no dragon lords.
@@MrBombermann27 he is talking about if some other much powerful family came instead of the Targaryens(they were a minor dragonlord family).
@@adityasrivastava9394 they were not minor, they were one of the ruling houses, just kind of meh but not really weak.
They did arrive first, they just didn't have dragons.

Love all versions of this! Corlys Velaryon - the Marco Polo/Niccolo Machiavelli fusion for Westeros.
Dude the house V is the best they got the sea horse the snake and dragon... yeah man
This is black excellence. Look at this regal family walking in.
