Her never discounting being multi racial is one reason so many people (especially in the early days) gravitated towards her. I was blown away when she first came out in 1990. This was an era where many multi racial people were becoming adults. Multi racial people were truly underrepresented and many felt the same anguish she did. Being multi racial myself and finally seeing some of her fans say the same thing made me feel less understood and I could finally stop hiding behind that vail. A true inspiration to the melting pot.

I mean there is a difference between releasing a single as a CD (which was the way singles were released at the time) with remixes and releasing the same album 16 different times 💀
Remixes on a physical single is not the same as 30 versions of ONE album which gets re-released weekly. Taylor re-released her latest album in 30 versions over the course of the first 4 weeks, adding a live song or a demo... That's its own category.

But a lot of artists are adding on acapella/acoustic tracks and remixes to digital and physical releases of their albums these days and getting criticized for manipulating numbers the way Mariah was getting criticized for the discounted singles and remix packages. Mariah added acapella tracks to Butterfly, Music Box, and Rainbow anniversaries, so in some ways it feels like an acknowledgement that this is the natural progression of things. At the end of the day, I think Swift is giving her fans what they want. If Mariah did the same thing the Lambs would eat it up too.
