Many of the most beautiful structures in the world are dedicated to religious institutions and it is not by mistake. Beauty is an antidote to suffering, and beauty is not optional.

Jordan Peterson has helped a lot of people in different ways. Somebody found meaning, somebody disipline, others stoped being suicidal... It is worth living the life if you have helped even one person. But he is helping an entire generation. Long life to Jordan Peterson! ❤
I love him too
:)
Absolutely incredible story of the young man, who was suicidal... well done to him!
Reminds me of Peterson's comment from some other video, can't remember which, but along the lines that beauty strikes us with awe, because it resonates with our desire for the ideal - how things could be. It only makes sense that churches, a place of worship for God who represents the perfect ideal, should strive to present that beauty as well.
I know the Catholic church often gets a bad rap for how they spend money, but there's something also admirable in the effort they go to create buildings that reflect God's beauty and perfection. I still lean toward modesty, helping the poor, and living as the early church did is a better goal, but I will give credit where it's due.
It was in his conversations with the late sir roger scrutin. Except point!
But the early church didn't even have a church as a building. They gathered in houses to pray. They were under persecution. I don't think poor conditions were an option. It was simply circumstancial.
I don't regard poverty as a virtue nor does the Bible mention it as such.
It's way easier to be poor. But much more difficult to be wealthy.
It takes a lot more character development, discipline and knowledge to be wealthy and preserve it. And that's admirable for me.
Exactly. And anyone here who didn't watch Scruton's documentary "Why Beauty matters", I highly recommend to watch. It opened my eyes to that question.
@@dearbrave4183 Sure. Being wealthy is never outright called wrong. And there are wealthy people called righteous. But it does introduce a lot of risk as you suggest.
Truth and the Beauty of Christ go hand in hand. 🌺
The great thing is that Christ is truth!
The absolute importance of beauty . It's not just about aesthetic beauty but about the beauty of thought , of kindness , of ideas , of intentions and so much more . Can in compass the love to and from others and love for yourself as well as nature and everyday life .

These spell checkers today are acting like social gateways to literature, terminology and conversation. They're influencing people's choices in words, spellings (etc.), with no basis on any dictionary that I've been able to find (most mistakes I've made do, but some are blatantly wrong) Which makes me wonder what consequences everyday spelling corrections made by substandard programs will have on the populace at large... Anyways, have fun!

An hour and a half a day of JBP?
Jordan those are rookie numbers ;)
I average 4.5 hours a day
@@charlierose5569 YES!
I can't stand more than 20 - 30 minutes, personally. But much of his stuff is simply confirmation for me and I routinely listen to anything new I can find of his. Still, his logic, truth, and explained values are some of the best on RUclips. The Left is right to fear him, because the truth he teaches will set their members free...
😅👍
@@tyree9055 I actually agree. Back in the day I would commonly cross 3-4 hours. At the same time sometimes I'd have to stop and just ponder over a small section.
Seeing JP smile is so good
It’s no accident that crucial and cross are the same thing...

Is that a threat, weirdo?
Love, truth, beauty or in that sense, God. One man cannot grasp it fully. We will never understand that completely, Jordan. Thanks for all the good that you give to the world.

Truth the antidote to suffering
100% 👍👍👍👍👏
There is actual being, potential being, and ideal being. Beauty is an outward sign of an inward good.
Well said Jordan this is why you can't be concealed we really need you in the world ❤❤❤❤
And to think that even beauty has its limits.
When he was young, Michelangelo said that the humanists in the court of his beloved Medici, "blended the teachings of Plato and Dante into the framework of the Bible.” This inspired him in his sculpture and painting. “Ideal beauty leads to God," he wrote.
Michelangelo never gave up his artistic pursuits. But in his old age and failing health, he wrote something different: "Beauty was my idol then. Now faith alone guides me.”
Thank you Jordan for your videos ❤
Truth. Beauty. Goodness ♥️🙏🏼

What a miraculous story
“One word, Ma'am," he said, coming back from the fire; limping, because of the pain. "One word. All you've been saying is quite right, I shouldn't wonder. I'm a chap who always liked to know the worst and then put the best face I can on it. So I won't deny any of what you said. But there's one more thing to be said, even so. Suppose we have only dreamed, or made up, all those things-trees and grass and sun and moon and stars and Aslan himself. Suppose we have. Then all I can say is that, in that case, the made-up things seem a good deal more important than the real ones. Suppose this black pit of a kingdom of yours is the only world. Well, it strikes me as a pretty poor one. And that's a funny thing, when you come to think of it. We're just babies making up a game, if you're right. But four babies playing a game can make a play-world which licks your real world hollow. That's why I'm going to stand by the play world. I'm on Aslan's side even if there isn't any Aslan to lead it. I'm going to live as like a Narnian as I can even if there isn't any Narnia. So, thanking you kindly for our supper, if these two gentlemen and the young lady are ready, we're leaving your court at once and setting out in the dark to spend our lives looking for Overland. Not that our lives will be very long, I should think; but that's a small loss if the world's as dull a place as you say.”
― C.S. Lewis, The Silver Chair

I'm from Brazil, one thing I like to do is go to google maps and visit cities around the world, every time I do this I became more envy of people living in other countries.
Here in my city there's not a single men made beauty place, not a single one, and I live in one of the best cities around here. Astonishes me that there are people who wants to destroy such things.
I'm often the odd ball. I find beauty almost everywhere.
You must see the truth in God's craftsmanship then...

So beautiful
What am I to say mr Peterson to those people who - in my own family - not only have got no interests for themselves in anything (beside politics and work) but also think about this "hunger" of mine as only kind of wasting time on unproductible things (for example my interest in myths, philosophy, music) which dont earn them money or give them more work for money?
Ya know who Jordan Peterson reminds me of? Joseph Campbel. Power of Myth. Neither are real Christians, yet both see the value of the religious mode of thinking, and of community and the religious way of seeing the world. Fascinating.
Nietshce spoke of it in The birth of tragedy tho where I dont remember sadly...

hi
Zbigniew Herbert wrote a poem "The power of taste" that described that what they truly hated in the communism was ugliness :)
My grand-grandparents had slaughterhouses before WWII, there old buildings still exist. They were beautiful, with ornamements, round, a bit decorated windows. Really, the slaughterhouses are more beautiful than the flat I have to live in now. It didn't even cross the mind of my grand-grandparents to build something ugly, they would call this idea crazy.

Crucial: crucible: cross
Jesus is the crucial crucible for the cross…. Being the Divine Embodiment of Love.
Jesus Christ was once a man, always Divine.

7 For there are three that bear record in heaven, the Father, the Word, and the Holy Ghost: and these three are one.
8 And there are three that bear witness in earth, the Spirit, and the water, and the blood: and these three agree in one.
