I suggest reading a book Plate of Health by Ethan Parker if you want to know how to lose weight. Just follow everything writer suggests in there, it's one of the best reads I had in a while.

To achieve 30 grams of fiber and only 5 grams of net carbs in a day all you need is: 1. Chia Seeds (2 tablespoons) Fiber: 10 grams Net Carbs: 1 gram 2. Flaxseeds (2 tablespoons) Fiber: 6 grams Net Carbs: 0.5 grams 3. Avocado (1 medium) Fiber: 10 grams Net Carbs: 2 grams 4. Psyllium Husk (1 tablespoon) Fiber: 5 grams Net Carbs: 0 grams 5. Spinach (2 cups, raw) Fiber: 2 grams Net Carbs: 1 gram 6. Zucchini (1 cup, cooked) Fiber: 2 grams Net Carbs: 1 gram Total for the day: Fiber: 35 grams Net Carbs: 5.5 grams
My take aways from this very informative podcast 10 plant points per day Gradually increase fibre intake to 50gms per day Fibre intake very very important Carbs not bad, sugar is bad Try oil free cooking for 70% of the meal at least Fiber as snack and nuts with meals Lifestyle changes, sleep early Have fruit before meals Lentils are a very good source of protein Stick to whole things, whole grains, whole fruits, no fruit juices etc Stay away from ultra processed foods Keep fruits in ur kitchen and avoid keeping junks Only 2000 dollars(in terms of daily requirement of calories, on an average) to spend per day, spend each and every penny judiciously, like even a single calorie should be nutritious
Lentils are a very good source of protein is a myth. It contains more about of Carbs than protein. Eating pulses and legumes will give the side effect of gas bloating in most of the people. The class 1 protein source is only from Animal source. Someone to loose weight and to increase their protein intake needs to depend on Animal based protein source.
Lets keep it simple: Have lots of variety (rainbow color) of clean, whole/unprocessed foods preferably plant based - conscious timed meals with an eye on your portion size (not your TV) - Exercise at least 20-30min daily, keep yourself happy and positive, sleep and wake up on time, get some sunshine and take a walk with nature and your Self.
Namastey Dr. Pal I really enjoyed your podcast. Some I remember is like this : 1.better to have tofu instead of paneer 2.fiber can stop surgery for haemorroids 3.fruits can help in weight loss Dr. Pal I am patient of IBS sometimes I have diarrhea and sometimes I have constipation please suggest me what type of food I should include in my diet? I went through cholecystectomy 12 years ago and I am 50 years old female with no co-morbidly. Thank you.
I am a 45 yr male and I have the Same problem. Try psyllium husk (isabgol powder at night (1 teaspoon in water) , it will regulate the constipation issue.
I learnt about min 10 plant points per day. And whole grains do have protein. Great.. it was a great interview Dr.Pal. learnt so many new things.. you are a true inspiration and a great trend setter. Keep rocking.. I started following your 7 to 7 eating habit and slowly moved on to 2 meal a day format. Now I lost 20 pounds in 7 months. Hope i will start my workouts to maintain muscle mass. Thank you so much Doc.. keep inspiring people.. All the best.
Funny how 99% of our food is processed. Anything the FDA says to eat I just do the opposite. I recommend reading “Health and Beauty Mastery” by Julian Bannet, that book is a real eye opener about shocking stuff health industry is doing! I completely changed my habits
I love what she says Dr Pal rather than the other nutritionist, who says you got to be a meat eater to stay healthier. You always says reduce meat in cooking and suggest plant points for the good gut. She says the only way you get protein is meat, but this nutritionist supporting what a gut Docter says. She asks to go for whole grain where you get more fiber plus protein by taking 3 grains and 3 pulses. If somebody takes a cup of Rajma definitely cannot take more rice because of fiber. Then itself the calories count is down. If if we can follow what she exactly says the whole grain, rather white rice everything will fall in place -the count on protein ,fiber, (fats seeds and nuts) and fruits and vegetables. Thankyou for getting such kind of people who can explain very well. Common man can easily understand your podcasts.
Thank you for the excellent knowledge sharing about Nutrition. 1. Eat more wholesale grains 2. Eat Fruits than Juices 3. Protein is in all foods. Need not focus on supplement for protein
Very sincere request i have watched so many podcasts and different people told variety of lifestyle diet can you please help us giving a proper diet plan on what should a normal south Indian middle class person can eat in a day. Bcz all are saying legumes oils whole grains but as a layman we are not able to start a plan, so please make a diet plan and upload so we can follow readily . ❤
Just best pod cast …till these days I was in assumption that with veggie we get low protein …but with veggie itself we can able to maintain our protein need and take varieties of fiber ( diversified plant food) …love it …seeing this I wants to convey to veggie diet ….
Wonderful interactive podcast full of useful practical information. Interesting discussion between Dr.Pal and Roshni. Great learning experience. Thanks a ton Dr.Pal
Very informative podcast Pal sir one suggestion since you like curd rice try eating curd with little millet it tastes amazing it won’t take even a second to like it and lil bit of pink salt enhances taste We at home everyday eat millet atleast for one meal and some days 3 meals like you said Dosa and Idly with millet and Pongal and kichdi and bisibele bath and it’s amazing food We have 3 elderly people at home and see that how much it has made positive impact on their health
44:15 exactly. we have home made snacks, we received so many fruits for some occasion. Snacks can stay, fruits spoil, we snacked on fruits that week. Didn't even thought about snack until 7th day. ;-). Now we are doing this monthly once to make it habit.
I get these points from this podcast 1. Convenience triumphs 2. 10 plant points per day 3. 1 gm of protein per kg of body weight 4. 25 Grams of fiber per day
Good podcast....i listened to this podcast for 25min while i was on my walk and on my way i went to store and bought apples which would last a few days for me and grapes for my kid ... i ate an apple after i returned home....
The complex carbohydrates part was an eye opener for me. Is it true that all the white food is bad for us- for example salt, sugar, white rice, milk etc.. is it true that avoiding these would really work wonders in terms of weightloss?
Dear Dr.Pal, pls do a video on the high amount of pesticides, growth injections and chemicals used during cropping of all kind of food. We need to eat lot of plants food but how safe are they now?? Are there any solutions to avoid the impact of these chemicals??🙏 My friend does tomato cropping and he honestly accepted that they don’t eat tomato at their home coz every alternate day during cropping they apply pesticides and sprays on tomatoes . Pls explore this aspect.
Thank you Dr. Pal you're reaching great knowledge to housewives who cannot efford to go to nutritionist, with this knowledge she can take care of her health and her family. We are greatful to you for the effort you are making to make the world healthy and happy😊namaste 🙏
Dr Pal, first a big thank you to you, for bringing Roshniji on this podcast.. And as always listening attentively, asking the right questions and never ever trying to over shadow your guest...Roshni ji has a very very simple mantra of 'plant based whole foods'. .. Every single influencer talks about protein as if it is the only food group... And talks about ingesting protein powder as if it is candy( I would say candy is safer) in the comments of one such influencer, one lady had a question whether protein powder is okay for her 6 and 10 year old daughters.. It is frightening how an entire generation is carried away and brain washed by this 'protein deficiency' idea. I love you Maam for your very balanced view on protein intake.. ❤❤ seem to be the only sane voice around.. Look forward to seeing more of your content online
Thank you Dr.Pal And Roshni mam, you have emphasised the Importance of having fruits as part of every meal . I will try to make it as lifestyle inclusion going forward
In the other podcast the other guests said reduce grains and increase vegetables. Now here she's saying increase whole grain to a considerable extent. Can you all sit together and decide how much is good and bad?
Fiber is a good friend. Fruits and plants are like family. Proteins are like a spouse, helping to build muscle and athleticism. Enjoy food, but don't forget to take care of your health. Love your gut family.
Most awaited podcast, finally someone from the nutrition field said no more protein powders or protein from animal sources, it’s so annoying to here all the time only animal sources n protein powder r the best sources for living, this podcast has washed off all my insecurities regarding protein, having whole plant based foods r the final n eternal for good healthy lifestyle, a big round of applause to you Dr. Pal n Roshni👏👏👏👏keep doing such podcasts so it ll reach more people 👍
My suggestion is to use few images while explain millets, whole grain, lentils and .... it will make us understand what it refers to much more easier. If add in few places in the video. Thanks for this informational video.
Hello all information about gut; Intake of Fruits; the consumption of pulses and lentils for a healthy diet; Yoga matt and exercise outfit techniques. Thank you
Hi Dr. Pal , I will watch all your podcasts.its so informative . can you please have the discussion about the cleft lip and palate in one of your podcast. Since my daughters have, I wish to know deeper about the cause and the precautions to be taken by the people to avoid such cleft births
My take away points from this podcast are -eat a fruit before your meal -10 plant points Include nuts and seeds in every meal - have lentils and pulses daily - eat which is close to mother nature
"Dr. Pal, you're like the superhero we didn't know we needed but definitely deserve! Thank you for bringing in these nutrition experts who actually give practical advice us mere mortals can follow. Finally, tips that don’t involve blending kale with moon dust! You're changing lives one sensible meal at a time!"
Hi Dr.Pal, I am a big fan of you and watch most of your videos.. and here is my concern, I need more clarification on soya beans consumption who has hypothyroidism and on levothyroxine medication. You mentioned we got to be careful while having thyroxine tablets. As most hypothyroidism patients have medication first thing in the morning… Does it mean that during morning time it’s better to avoid soy beans or consuming at all is a problem.. elaborating this would be more helpful.. Also please explain about soya chunks consumption ., many thanks in advance!!
Most insightful! Thank you Roshni Sanghvi and Dr. Pal for emphasising the importance of fibres. Thank you for the lifestyle changes suggested and building the excitement for inclusions of as many foods to make a colourful bowl. Best wishes to you both and viewers worldwide!
Oh my God This widened the scope for new learnings like Importance of fibre along with protein.. Most important new learning for me is.. Fecal transplantation n how that business is going on😮😮

Sir points to remember are eat only wt is needed for ur body 2.eat less rice and more plant based food 3.fill ur plate colourfully with fruits and veggies 4.add more naturally available fibre food daily to have a good gut management 5.do try ur level best to do exercise at all ages of life When u r ready to change your lifestyle for good u can always do good for yourself ✌️👍thank u doctor
I am gonna share some steps which I personally feel will work. 1. Exercise - Start with atleast 5k steps per day to 10k, If feasible Strength training is higly recommended. 2. Limit Junk foods/ Oil Foods/ Sugary foods/ Empty Calorie foods 3. Eat High Fibrous foods - Fruits(1-2 Perday) and Vegetables 4. Plan meals accordingly how Dr Pal Advices, as per circadium rhythm 5. Start with atleast 1g of protein per 1kg of body weight and as you progress slowly increase 6. Try to Limit Carbs - Simple carbs (White Rice and refined grains) 7. Eat healthy fats (Seeds Nuts etc) I think the diet part you gotta make it a lifestyle change rather than dieting for 3months and losing weight and then falling off the wagon and regaining weight. All the very best. I hopt this is a bit helpful.
It is a very good discussion. But Krish Ashok, in his interview with you, he said all the lentils and pulses are carbohydrates only....they have traces of protein. But she says they are a good source of protein.... however, planning to include dals in each meal. In one discussion, Ramya said any sweet including sweets needs to be included in less number. But she said fruits are very good to include before each meal.
The information is excellent and highly informative. However, it can be overwhelming for the average person to absorb and implement. A summary on a board, along with real food examples, would be really helpful.
Thank you for such an informative podcast. Loved it! Three points I learned from today's podcast: 1) More soyabeans, less soyachunks which is unfortunately a lot more common amongst Indian population. 2) First time I heard about gut microbiome transplantation surgery and how it can impact the recepient cravings 3) Unsalted, unroasted nuts are more nutritious than the roasted, salted ones.
Even being a gastroenterologist , Dr pal listens to others very carefully . he is a very humble person
True
Has to be....because podcast is public facing

Easy way to get sufficient fiber in a low carb diet is to have sat isab gol like silicon fibre.
My take aways from this very informative podcast

Gradually increase fibre intake to 50gms per day
Fibre intake very very important
Carbs not bad, sugar is bad

which is presents in fruits.

Very informative. However, eating grains and pulses tends to spike the blood sugar, especially when you are type 2 diabetic. Can we still follow this?

Three points I learned from today's podcast: 1) More soyabeans, less soyachunks which is unfortunately a lot more common amongst Indian population. 2) First time I heard about gut microbiome transplantation surgery and how it can impact the recepient cravings 3) Unsalted, unroasted nuts are more nutritious than the roasted, salted ones.
Great episode! Thanks doctor
