Thankyou and for your videos and guides on State of Decay 2! i know theres were many people like me up til beginning of 2020, that would have straightout left the game; if i had not watch your channel videos. i literally was gifted this game on xbox1in late 2018 by battlefield buddy of mine. When i 1st started i didnt have a clue how the game mechanics work for base building, gaining influence or characters traits or skills worked. i hate zombie games in general, but the base building and resource managing i love doing and thar drew me in it. Like Age of Empires series, Command & Conquer series, Sim City200p, or Save the World - fortnite base building mode. In 2018 there truly werent alot of choices or creators on youtube that made in-depth guides on this game and explaining it to the new people. I try to pass your channel onto new-comers i meet in SoD2 to get better understanding of the game as well.
A feature I think would temporarily make 2 unpopular skills appealing: being able to remove built in facilities to build something else. But it would require both construction and metalworking.
@@andrewwashere82 metal work would help out a lot for starting a whole fresh game with new recruits. I’ve used it once, owing the forge alone is really cool looking
I started playing SoD2 a bit over a month ago and I really like your content! Guess I will give this base a go later in my Providence Ridge walkthrough.
Beds may not be necessary from a strategy point of view but I always build them in my games from a role-playing, immersion point of view. I understand where you're coming from but we all play the way that makes us happy. 😊
It’s a good base just due to the fact that it has so many built in facilities. By this time you already have a stockpile of materials that you wouldn’t use on the workshop, the gym and idk how you hate a kitchen cuz it’s a good morale and stamina boost haha. Those materials can be used on the large facilities since they cost so much and wouldn’t need to rely on the trade depot and influence.
Lol, Super Waifu Cafeteria Squad. I do that myself and it's quite obscene how overpowered that setup is. Along with 4 people with Morning Yoga and 2 people with Hygiene Standards. I was lucky enough to get a couple of people with Dosage Control for a big increase in healing efficacy, from recruiting the drunk enclave on top, so my people are quite sturdy when it comes to staying alive. But because of that I also use a Nutritionist. I take your points but I quite like the +30 stamina from making feasts. And if you're saving a ton of food you can spend it on making sure the former models all have a Celery Magnifique at all times. I agree that the Latrine isn't all that useful later in the game and is taking up a slot much better used by a Shooting Range. But I also keep a Plumber on hand to stack the stamina bonuses. So while feasting I get +70 stamina for 3 food. And with Primary Care + a Fighting Gym, that's +70 Health on top of a huge drop in injury chance for 3 meds, and a 100% drop in injury severity. So your people are all tanks, and essentially Unbreakable. And yeah you don't need many stamina items if your people rarely ever run out of stamina lol. I always wanted to try this base but yeah, the inflexibility is the issue. It's nice that you don't need the initial dump of materials to get it functional from the start, and it doesn't have as much materials upkeep as other bases will. But as you said it seems more like an early to mid game focused base but aimed at end game communities, which puts it in a very weird spot. I guess it comes down to your playstyle and what you value in your facilities. I personally don't think two large slots is enough for a Forever Community at the hard cap. I still think Whitney Field is probably the best base in the game which makes me really averse to leaving Meagher Valley.
This base has always felt more suited for 6 people to me. I get surprised everytime I replay SoD2 after a hiatus that it costs 8 survivors to move into.
I feel like the lumber is the base you go to and grind tf outta of you stack up get everything needed and get as many survivors as you want then once you’re living life lavishly you take over all the outpost around the firehouse and take over the firehouse you’ll get a whole town free of zombies and build up the watch tower add your own sniper tower in the outside it really makes such a safe zone you can literally go afk without being inside your base and you hardly ever get raided
Fox, how do you shoot only with single charges from pyrolauncher? Mine is fully automatic, the only way i can interrupt the burst is by dodging. Or is it some other version of this weapon?
Imho if playing without amenities this is the best base. If you have amenities "awful" is a strong word :) just don't repair the utilities room and you won't pay the daily fuel cost.
I don't think awful is a strong word because it IS a 3500 influence base. You could move into Westen Builder Supply for just 1000 and still have a 2500 budget left over to capture a power outpost, and the crafting still would provide you water meaning Westen Builder Supply for the same 3500 influence can get you water and power.
@@GitGudFox Yes or creating a distraction that makes it easier to get rid of those hordes. The boom box is a staple in my game. I can pull them from one location to another (and quietly make my get away).
@@GitGudFox I know, you a master with the pyro launcher. It is your bread and butter. Those of us with less skills still sneak around and make the least amount of noise possible. 😂
I think it got outclassed by Lethal Zone, but I think it was alright in Nightmare. The issue is that the sniper fires too slow for Lethal. You fight just such a crazy amount of zombies that I don't think it kills enough of them to really matter especially if you're hoping it'll snipe a blood feral. Not only will the blood feral survive being shot once, but the sniper can spend a lot of time shooting the basic zombies instead.
@@GitGudFox I'm doing my first Lethal run now (Lethal/Nightmare/Nightmare) and haven't tried the tower but yea those Blood Ferals are no joke the zombie swarms feel endless almost to the point of annoyance. My Leader died so I need a new one lol.

Despite avoiding amenities, I never seem to end up in PFS. This base is in arguably the most dangerous part of the map, usually covered in 4+ plague hearts, and just psychologically feels far away being on the opposite corner from where you start out. I often end up in the lumber mill. I like the unique aspect of having 5 large facility slots, as well as the materials generation. Just feels unique compared to what most endgame bases have to offer. PFS doesn't really feel that unique. Similar to Fort Marshall, I could see trying to rush toward this base, given the built-ins, but the plague hearts and overall dangerous area is an effective deterrent to that. Dunno, the value proposition just doesn't seem to be there to me. I do tend to value the kitchen much higher than you do though Fox. To me, rationing isn't about just meeting your food needs. It's part of an overall food-based economy to drive surplus food generation. Hydroponics could be another option, but I don't play with amenities, so the setup cost is higher, notably power. Surplus food goes toward stills and energy drinks. I do enjoy having a nutritionist. Having a bunch of energy drinks is just a really nice quality of life thing. While not strictly necessary, I enjoy being able to pop energy drinks to go toe-to-toe with ferals and hordes using blunt weapons. I'm not a pyrolauncher fan, as I like the challenge. Going to town on hordes with blunt weapons is just a ton of fun, and your allies often comment on how studly you are lol. I do see what you mean about kitchens not being super strong--enough that I could see not building one if a base doesn't have one--but I would never not use a kitchen that is given to me as a built-in. That's the only area where I disagree with your approach to base reviews. I'd rather see a "how do you leverage this base to the max" instead of "how does this base compare to what is ideally most objectively powerful." But overall, great review and content as always. Thanks for continuing to churn out content for this really fun game.
So how does the morale bonus to rationing compare to the bed morale thing? I'm assuming that -15 is for each survivor? Which is the same as having a bunch of infestations on the map. 3 or more is minus 7 a piece. I think 6 or more is what usually gives me minus 15 a piece. The warlord bunk with the white noise machine gives you a +7. But I am just curious because I have never used rationing.
