    Great to have you back!
    I'm a big fan of Carl Froch and a fan of Mikkel Kessler, so I hope that Froch wins but that Kessler still has a few very good wins left in his career. I have absolutely no idea who will win, however, because it was so close last time and I think they've both picked up quite a lot of mileage.
    Once again: it's great that you're back.

    Welcome back, Islander. Watching your video is equivalent to having my "boxing alarm clock" wake me up for 30 minutes, taking a tired look around, and going back to sleep. You do an awesome job. And thanks for nuthin'.....

    Please keep in mind that 200-500K depending on whose fighting is an every month thing not once a quarter. And I forgot to add in the video that the PPV numbers for Mayweather-Guerrero were "reported to be at about 1Million which is 500k less than expected. 1Mx$60.00=$60,000,000. $60M - 50% to the cable and satellite companies leaves $30M which all of that has to go to Mayweather plus some of the advertising and live gate meaning this even might have been a "NET LOSS"

  • @boxinginfo
    @boxinginfo  11 лет назад

    I forgot to talk about the Jr welterweight division which is really heating up. Lucas Matthysee and Danny Garcia are on a collision course and Dan Raphael has stated that Garcia is in big trouble although I have my doubts.

    Donaire vs Rigo is a blue print of what Pacquiao vs. Mayweather would be like.

    I heard he's said that multiple times. I have no problems with Martinez' attitude toward himself, there are people out there that think he's 1 of the top 20 all time. I'll just go on record saying if he challenged Pavlik on the night Pavlik fought Miranda or Jermain Taylor we wouldn't be seeing or talking about Sergio Martinez anymore at least not in the top 5 P4P rankings.

  • @SuttieTheFan

    Kessler didn't move on from when he fought Calzaghe. That fight highlighted his vulnerability to body punching and clever fighters that throw faints

  • @nikosvault

    I agree that Martinez is not an all-time great at 160, but then I don’t see him as a middleweight.
    He is basically a superb junior middleweight, who is taking advantage of a weak era at 160. From the fights I have seen, he has never been anything less than sensational at 154 (granted I only started watching him following the Bunema fight).
    I think fighting at 160, combined with his style and age is wearing him out quickly.

  • @DrowsyMongoose

    Islander. What did you think of Bradley-Provodnikov? As a Bradley fan I was disappointed in how sloppy he looked even before he started getting tagged(also he needs to shed that extra weight he put on which he admitted on a podcast was a mistake). On the flipside you have to admire the heart he has.

  • @joseelenes4112

    I think if mayweather does go through with his six fight deal. He is going to fight lower opposition like Robert Guerrero. Or the likes of mike Alvarado, I think he will save pq and canelo for fight 5 and 6. If he even follows through with the contract. And thanks islander. welcome back great stuff.

  • @DrowsyMongoose
    @DrowsyMongoose 11 лет назад

    Mayweather vs. Alvarez is happening on Sept. 14th. I'm surprised the fight got made so quickly. I would have been annoyed if the catchweight was any lower but I don't think Canelo should have any problem with 152.

    Hi islander new subscriber here! i really enjoy your thorough analysis and figured i needed to join the party. Anyhow. i really think canelo has a far better chance than cotto in beating mayweather mainly as a result of his attributes. Canelo is faster and overall a far more athletic specimen. Mind you im not saying hes a sure bet to beat mayweather but i think he is hands down more gifted physically than cotto. I also feel that he is far more mobile and agile and not as stationary.

    Alvarado vs Prescott 2.

  • @boxinginfo
    @boxinginfo  11 лет назад

    Termite I thought it was a candidate for FOY and personally I think Bradley is being told to be more fan friendly coupled with the fact that he has a sense of IMO false security after the Pacquiao fight by getting through it and thinking he can walk through fire. Personally I think he has a very good chance of beating Marquez, too many wrinkles to his game and he's in his prime where as Marquez is in the twilight of his career.

  • @MrBrendanRoy
    @MrBrendanRoy 11 лет назад

    I think Sergio Martinez would have big time problems with a fighter like Julian Jackson given the amount of time he has spent on the canvas.

  • @boxinginfo
    @boxinginfo  11 лет назад

    There are not enough top 10 P4P guys squaring off against each other. Bradley-Provednikov and Alvarado-Rios II have been great BUT whats the difference between Alvarado-Rios and the Gatti-Ward trilogy? Both guys are going to beat each other senseless and not get to the championship level. Garcia-Judah was better than expected and probably Judah's last hurrah. I really need to see Garcia-Bradley or Garcia-Mathysse - fights that have risk/reward and consequences. Froch-Kessler II is a start.

  • @Bugees
    @Bugees 11 лет назад

    I agree: I think the Pavlik-Martinez fight could have easily been scored a draw. Prime Pavlik would have beaten Martinez - no doubt!

  • @boxinginfo
    @boxinginfo  11 лет назад

    Here's the difference- the ELITE that Hagler fought Leonard, Hearns and Duran all at least won a share of the 160lb title after he was gone. Take a close look at Sibson and Hamsho. They never won titles BUT they were far better than anybody Martinez has defended against including Jr.
    -Fully Obel went on to win a share of the 168lb title. Wilford Scypion, Roldan, and Mugabi were also far better than Martinez' recent competition. In my mind its really not comparable.

  • @DENNISTOYO
    @DENNISTOYO 11 лет назад

    I think Froch Kessler 1 was way closer than it was scored. That's what happens w/ hometown advantage. This is a similar scenario to Rios Alvarado. I think Froch was way too relaxed w/ his hands below his waist 90% of the fight. Like Alvarado he's going to come back and fight smarter which should tip the scale his way.

    Im as frustrated as the rest of you about multiple title holders. Im wondering could AIBA gettkng involved in pro boxing give us one governing body. Can they muscle out the rest by signing up boxers exclusively to them. If they offer pensions etc it might work. Your thoughts? Im also enjoying WSB.

    Boxrec.com is a great source of information and I visit it on an almost daily basis. The point system they use is very good, but not perfect. Boxrecpoints earned 5 or even 10 years ago by a fighter have as much influence on the total number of points as the points earned by a fighter in his last fight. I think you get a better idea about the current level of a fighter when you add a weighting to points earned longer than say five years ago.

  • @DrowsyMongoose
    @DrowsyMongoose 11 лет назад

    He's even admitted that he's no more than a jr. middle who can fight at 160. At this point I'm not sure where he's better served. The guys are faster at 154 and he's not getting any younger. Eventually though, someone's going to catch the rabbit if he stays at 160.

  • @DENNISTOYO
    @DENNISTOYO 11 лет назад

    Ortiz is definitely in the running for a rematch. He was interviewed pre-fight talking trash, Fans would want to see the drama/ controversy unfold both w/showtime. Canelo can wait he needs to build his US fan base up. That would be the Mega-fight in lieu of Pac. Mayweather wins by decision Canelo has a slight disadvantage.

  • @DrowsyMongoose
    @DrowsyMongoose 11 лет назад

    I was just watching Hagler vs. Hamsho. Marvin would've done such terrible things to Martinez.

  • @DENNISTOYO
    @DENNISTOYO 11 лет назад

    I don't think anyone wants to see Guerrero vs. May again. That was a very predictable fight I'd rather see Ortiz get another shot. Ortiz may have to beat Guerrero or some other tune-up but that would be a more popular fight,

  • @lemonite1
    @lemonite1 11 лет назад

    Well....Hagler came into the middleweights at a funny time also. There were alot-o-old guys hangin around for paydays(Bad Bennie Briscoe?). Hagler came in when there was a definite low in big names in the middleweight division. Antuofermo, Shields, Minter, Hamsho, Obel sumthin what was his name? Caveman Lee. While these aren't bad fighters, they werent big names either. No, I dont think Martinez is as good as Hagler,but they have similar points to their careers/resumes.

  • @Shamyrl
    @Shamyrl 11 лет назад

    Although I don't agree with what that guy said. Way more than "a few hundred Americans" sacrificed their lives. We're talking thousands and maybe tens of thousands of Americans have died. And at least a trillion dollars have been lost.

  • @lemonite1
    @lemonite1 11 лет назад

    Actually, now that I think of it, Hagler never really fought another big name, legitimate middle in his prime.I'm not downplaying Hagler's career,rank or fighting abilities, no way. but all the big names he did end up fighting were blown up welters, which came too late in his career.Also, didja notice the spate of big name middleweights came right after Hagler retired? Had Hagler had been born 6-7 years later....

  • @DENNISTOYO
    @DENNISTOYO 11 лет назад

    I can't stand how Martinez fights with his hands below his waist. I guess you can get away w/ that in your hometown but if that fight was scored right he loses to Murray.

  • @Aka_daka
    @Aka_daka 11 лет назад

    I wish marquez would retire because his got nothing left to prove his a all time great Mexican legend he will never out do the pacquiao KO.

  • @iamrob7

    I'm a fan of Martinez but I agree he is somewhat overrated by people now, he used to be underrated, now its gone full circle. However to be fair on Martinez, he is in his late thirties now and I believe he is not the fighter he was in the first Paul Williams fight for example. So I think there is a case to be made that he is being knocked down by these decent fighters because he isn't as good as he used to be. However I do agree with your basic premise, he is a little overrated nowadays.

    Understand, I'm aware of that and NOT discounting any of it. All anybody needs to do is click on his username and look at his comments on other videos. He does it for shock value nothing else.
    -And to be fair Americans are still dying over the past 4.5 years over in a lawless unforgiving unappreciative land.
