Comparing Two Axes: Scandinavian Forest Axe vs Multi-Purpose Forest Axe

- I use two nearly identical axes to process a tree in order to determine wether the difference in price is merited. I have some complications along the way. And then I was philosophical at the end, for the precious few of you who are interested in that sort of thing.

I've always been a big fan of 'right tool for the job' and you got the next step too of right grind for the task. Chisel really makes the limbs 'pop' off.
Absolutely, that’s why I have so many tools lol. Never know when you’ll need them, but better to have them and not need them than to need than and not have them.
Good stuff. I use the GB American felling axe primarily. In the market for something a little smaller for limbing, so I appreciate the info.
I've done a lot of cutting in my day but your aim is top notch!
Thanks man
Good bit of axemanship!.Impressive.
Thanks Roy, I’ll keep at it. You too. Thanks for the support.
Man you deserve to be known! A guy who know how to swing an axe! I have a good technique but yours makes me want to work on mine! I love watching axe videos when i can’t be in the wood working myself. Your videos are very satisfying to watch. You know how to make a real review. Just got my scandi but hadn’t had the chance to give it a try. I have the SFA for backpacking while hunting/hicking and i really like it. Cheers! Subscribed!
Thanks brother, for the compliment and the sub. I’m currently editing a video thoroughly reviewing these two axes and the Hults BRUK Cross so people can decide which one they want to buy.
@@KevinsDisobedience nice! I’m waiting for it!
Thanks for this video. I am getting a husqy one
Glad it helped. Thanks for the sub. Lots more to come.
Dude, you make so much sense about Police should live in the communities they police. Now, some would argue then they don't make enough to live in certain areas but then those in those areas would be willing to pay for a higher class of Police if not call them Constables or Community Service Men like the Secret Service. I think sometimes Police Officers treat the areas they work in as "War Zones" or "Zoos" and that's a bad attitude to have when going to work. We all know that when we go to work and if we don't like the job or the people or the environment, we're not our best selves. And eventually you don't care how the work is done or even gets done right and then we quit. This would strengthen the community and the relationship with the Police to where those who would want to make trouble won't bother because they know the community is cool with the Police. So much so that the citizens will be more aware of when something looks like it's about to go down and give the Police a "Heads Up" on some word on the street type intel. This ain't snitching. Everyone wants, or should want, to live in a community where they can walk down the street or let their kids play in the park and not have to worry about crime and, know that the Police are looking out for not only themselves but the people in the community as well.
It makes a lot of sense to me. Same should go for teachers, in my opinion. Basically any “service” positions, especially congressmen.
Great video Kevin , keep em coming “ Noodles “ 😉🤣
Thanks. Will do. Keep watchin’.
Found your channel and subscribed. I go back and forth on my decision to buy the Husqvarna. Ive often wondered if I should have opted for the GF. After watching your videos of both these axes and the one with the HB included…I’m happy with my choice. Would love to see a video of your tune up to the Husky that made it perform a bit better. I know this a year old by now.
Glad to have you on board. Honestly, with a little know-how and the right tools you can make them all the same axe. I’ll do a basic tune-up video real soon. Thanks for subscribing!
@@KevinsDisobedience looking forward to it!
Interesting video, great book, I think most people have only heard of the prince and make a few false assumptions about the book and it's author. I have read a few of his other works and I suggest stopping at the prince. It's by far the most enjoyable to read.
Thanks for the insight. I’ve never read passed the Prince, as there’s so much else I want to read, but I have wondered if it was worth the squeeze. I don’t normally take another person’s word for something like that, but somehow I feel like you know what’s what. I feel similarly about Darwin. Decent of Man is so formidable in my world view, but I always steer people clear of Origins-with the exception of the last paragraph-as it’s a fairly dull book. Cheers
@@KevinsDisobedienceI think Darwin did what most people do when they discover something really cool, he jumped way ahead of his observations and extrapolated his way to a conclusion that depends on lots of speculation and very long periods of environmental stability which I don't think is the norm on earth. If anything people seem to be devolving via entropy rather than improving lol.
As for the Fox his other books aren't bad just dry, long, and slow reading, the ones I read , the art of war for instance is just compiled information about contemporary warfare. That makes sense considering he was writing the prince to the new conquering overlord from his prison cell as a job application of sorts "see how useful and resourceful I am alive" so if it didn't grab his attention that could have been unfortunate for the civil servant /convict.
That could have been painful! I've been chainsawing a lot of broken hanging windfall box elders for a friend and it involves some risk.
Okay, you're thin. Me, too. Better than the common alternative!
Sorry I missed this one. Yes, it was a close call. Stay safe. And yes, people eat too damn much!
it's about time one of these companies made a 4.25" version of these turpentine 850g heads
Agreed. I was just saying today I wish somebody would make a 3 1/4lb head on a 28” handle. But as far as I know, nobody does.
@@KevinsDisobedience pretty sure lamaca will be making a 3.25lb in the future
I’d be all over that. Any idea what length handle?
@@KevinsDisobedience I think 28-30". I know their goal is to be aesthetic and practical
I’d pre-order that one, especially considering their slim sexy handles and the bright red sheaths. I just ordered a Bison, ever heard of them? German company. Curious to see how it chops, but it’s on back order. Working on editing down a Cord Wood video now.
I started to make fun of you..... then realized we look exactly the same with our shirts off. Now I'm sad. Lol. Good videos brother!
You won’t hurt my feelings. It’s okay. Thanks for taking the time to comment.
Put a F#cking shirt on! Lol I have that same exact Granfors Bruk and I love it but I am also waiting for my local dealer to get in some more Husqys in. Good vid!
Too hot for this shirt, sorry. Definitely best to pick one out if you can rather than order it online. Thanks for commenting.
Man you almost took an uppercut from that dead limb.
Big time! Right in the chin too, and all because I tripped. Seems like I was trying to warn my future self about tripping hazards. Lol. Thanks for commenting.
My question would be steel quality between the two, do they both hold a edge the same ?
I’ve not noticed a difference.
@@KevinsDisobedience , Thank you Sir
I will say the GB is harder to file. Make no mistake about that. I just don’t notice a difference in use, or in how often they need sharpened.
How are we not friends? NOBODY, I mean NOBODY quotes Machiavelli! Oh, by the way, it is a fine axe. I chose the Roselli Bearded. Cheers!
I’m glad you found the channel. Welcome.
Which one bites deaper? Thanks in advance
That more depends on how you grind it. I believe in my Ultimate Buyers Guide video I do a depth test. As mine are ground right now, probably the HB as it is thinner at around 17 degree convex. You’re welcome.
Vines are a SOB. I've had trees held completely vertical in the past. If you like Machiavelli, Andrew Wilson's "Masters of War" on Great Courses is worth a listen/watch.
Yeah they’re a terrible parasite for trees. And I’ll check it out. Thanks for watching!
