      Happy to help ! I’m assuming your bike is an 04’ ? If so the rubber boot that is on top of the starter is where your positive wire from the battery is.

    New Sub! Even though I do not own a Harley , Your skill as a Motorcycle Tech, [I was one for 10 yrs] is really good! I currently own a Victory Cross Country [New 2015] . Less tech, but so far,so good 9 years later. I am 70 yrs young and been riding, for 55 yrs. I also own a 2016 Triumph Tiger 800. I noticed you could attach mounting points the the ground and starter that would allow quick connect. However , any metal connector outside of the "rubber starter cover' could short, and no telling what a "Short" could to the advanced Electrical Systems [Any MC] =$$$$

    I bought my Pan Am S last year, issues right away with my tender & pigtail (it wouldn't charge my Pan Am but charged my 17 Road King & my cousins 21 Street Glide fine). Clipped directly to the battery & ground fixed it but why have an unusable pigtail? After the tech at the dealer went through all of H-Ds updates, recommends, etc, he found H-D requires a 4Amp tender for the PAS. He then mentioned he uses one he got at Harbor Freight. So that's what I got, it's worked great ever since & alleviated my charging problems when my PAS has sat idle (like this winter). Oh boy, with the new electronics, a lot of guys with old tenders will be furious when their new bikes won't start. I have a feeling this was the reason for a lot of the claims of Pan Am unreliability, as after I got it sorted out mine's been great. I hope H-D has made it a point to to have dealers/salesmen warn new buyers, otherwise a reputation for unreliability will ensue as it has with the Pan Am, which the MoCo can ill afford.

      @VtwinRevolution  7 месяцев назад +1

      I’ve seen all of this more times than I can count. This bike is why I’ve been so adamant about using a 5amp charger. Like I said In the video I don’t care if you use Harley or deltran or harbor freight…..just use a charger that’s gonna keep your battery in a charged state and not just maintained. the 24 pan am’s have an upgraded stator and a new battery, so hopefully this will take care of the voltage sensitivity these bikes experience

    Great video , new Sub !
    I bought a 2024 Street-glide and was playing with the infotainment system for a few days.
    The first thing was that the stereo volume would only go to a third and at one point it kept cranking and not starting. I guess i got lucky that it started and it took me to thinking there is a safety feature so as not to drain too low etc… i did. put a tender and have stopped playing with things and now I will purchase a 5 amp and hook it up as you described. Thanks

    • @VtwinRevolution
      @VtwinRevolution  7 месяцев назад

      Awesome! Congrats on the purchase !! Yeah if you’re gonna be playin around with the bike or just listening to the radio as you clean hook it up like I’ve shown, if you’re just gonna store it and not ride it for a while then you can plug it into the tender harness.

    From Harley service bulletin M1632, on reflashing the ECM. Hook up battery tender to vehicle battery tender lead, tender lead can be used on 2024 models ONLY. Apparently on the 2024 models, Harley wired the lead in differently than earlier years. Just saying.

    • @VtwinRevolution
      @VtwinRevolution  6 месяцев назад

      So I did that in the beginning….and we were having issues with the bike going into voltage shed and then it was a shit show….so now when we do any reflash it goes to the starter and a good ground! And haven’t had any issues.

    Ok, this is all well and good but explain what has changed to require a 5 amp charge when a 2 amp used to work. You explained why and thank you for that but what changed?

    • @VtwinRevolution
      @VtwinRevolution  7 месяцев назад

      Good point, I’m still learning at this new endeavor and I probably left some things on the table…what changed really is when they went to CANBUS electrical system the J1850 system wasn’t as demanding so a 2amp was sufficient. With the CANBUS we now had hand control modules, BCM, ABS, proximity security, instrument modules and ECM. all this stuff is constantly communicating to send a state of health message to make sure each module is responding. With all that said the 2amp is just not as sufficient enough to keep up with the demand. I do apologize for leaving info out the to be questioned….i can talk to you personally till im blue in the face but getting on camera has been a new challenge. Thank you for your question and feeedback 🤘

    Bought a 24 CVO RG in legendary orange. Dealership had starting issues from the start before the bike was delivered to me. They've run a couple of ECM updates, with the latest being the ECM calibration update # M1632. What does/did that do? I have the brand new HD 5 amp charger you were showing and I keep that plugged into the tender at ALL times in the garage. If I'm putzing around on the Skyline OS infotainment system, I keep the bike tendered and when I'm done, a couple minutes later, it goes back up to the full green bar. Is that ok? Thanks for making this video, I'm subscribed!

    • @VtwinRevolution
      @VtwinRevolution  7 месяцев назад +1

      Congrats on your new bike ! That is a sexy paint job ! So the ECM software update just fixed an issue where the bike would spin over but wouldn’t start, I’m sure it had something to do with an ignition sequence. Harley typically doesn’t give us much information other than what models are affected and what the concern is and what the procedure is for installing a specific software. As far as how you have your bike plugged up that’s fine just be aware that when you are in accessory it stops charging the battery that’s why when you shut your bike off it goes back to green several min later….what I showed In that video is another way to hook it up so that if you are playin around or just playin music while cleaning your bike you’re not draining the battery

      Got it, thank you so much for responding. So I have a confession....I was one of those guys that would put tire shine on the sidewalls!! Suggestion; get to your point quicker, it’ll assist with your influencer status.
    Question; what happens to the battery, if you leave a 5 amp charger connected to the battery after it reaches a full charge, weather it takes a day or a week or if it’s left on, unattended?
    Will the 5 amp charger , continue to over charge a fully charged battery?
    Thank you

    Do you recommend a lithium ion battery for the newer bikes?

    • @VtwinRevolution
      @VtwinRevolution  7 месяцев назад +1

      so ill be honest, I could sit here and give you all the benefits of a lithium battery and really sound like a company man..... but thats not me. I'll tell you what I think and you can take that for what it's worth. With that said since the inception of the harley lithium battery I can count on one hand how many lithium batteries ive installed, do I think there is a benefit to them.... yes, but most people are turned off by the price, I mean at $329.95 for a battery that may give you an extra 1-2yrs in life span IF maintained properly is a lot to pay and while there is a significant weight difference, im just not sold on them yet cause im poor LOL !! I would just rock the OEM battery till you have to replace it and then think about getting one. I think you just gave me a great video idea! so I will get the gears turning on this and put something out at some point.
