I've always loved this song. That whole debut album "Broadcast" by Cutting Crew is great. It was produced by Terry Brown, who had produced nearly all of Rush's stuff to that point.
LINER NOTES:
Mike Massé - vocals, acoustic guitar, percussion
Bryce Bloom - bass
Tom Yaron - Violin 1
Zachary Carrettin - Violin 2
Stephanie Mientka - Viola
Joseph Howe - Cello
String quartet arrangement by Peter Borotto with concertize.co. Thanks to Tom Yaron, Trevor Bumgarner, and Peter Borotto from Concertize for coordinating the string arrangements and performance.
This is my second collaboration with Range Ensemble. We performed an evening of acoustic classic rock music with the quartet, and I hope to post additional highlights from that show in the coming weeks. This show can be produced anywhere in the world, so please contact me if you'd like to arrange a private or public performance.
Thanks to Tom Lopshire for sponsoring the string arrangement.
Thanks to Nathan Mitchell for providing the cinematography.

10/10! I love your covers! I had to do a double take to see that you were the one rocking the tambourine with your foot, nicely done!
Thanks for watching! Yes, I am multi-tasking. 👍
Além de cantar com uma voz Top, Tb toca muito!!! Um repertório muito Bom! Parabéns!!!
Another Mike Masse cover that I like more than the original.
Beautifully done to ALL of you!!!
Mike...absolutely stunning, I used to be in a duo here in the UK and you cannot believe how much inspiration your Africa track inspired us to keep going after being in the music industry for over 2 decades, much love🙏🎶
All class as always, brilliant Mike.
Oh thr strings made the song even better. My man on the violin absolutely killed it! You're amazing, Mike! Those high notes, chills as always. Forever a fan ❤️❤️
wow
Fantastic
What a brilliant cover! Really enjoyed this! All complementing each other beautifully.
Discovered Mike and Jeff years ago, singing Africa in the pub
You still got it Mike
Well done from this Aussie guy
Fantastic.
Homeboy in the front on the violin was really feeling it.
** Another 10 out of 10 **
Fantastic! This must be one of the other tracks with the ensemble that Bryce said would be forthcoming.
I loved this song when it first came out in the '80s and still love it.
The strings taking place of the synthesizer in the original is marvelous!
Marvelous!
Great! Hope to see you live soon!
Beautiful
Sensational as always. 🎉
Fantastic singer and musician. My whole family now listen to this genius. I wish he would come to 🏴
Nice one Mike!
Another great one from this set, keep 'em coming. Fantastic work Mike, Bryce, and Range Ensemble!

Brilliance. Flawlessly executed. See you at the SLC show in August! (#ThePie) 🍕

This is a really, really good Cover, Mike!
Like it.... Including leader of the band....
Awesome arrangement
Nice!
Someone send this to Nick Van Eede if you Haven't already as I know he would love this. Great work Mike, Nick would be proud of this.
I took your suggestion and sent it to him. He sent a very nice note back. Don’t want to post it before I ask him but it was really awesome of him :)
I came across your version of "Africa", and have watched it a hundred times. The algorithm now wants me to check out more of your stuff. Will do! Your voice and interpretations are marvellous!
All the best from Norway!
You won't be disappointed my friend. You need to check out his live streams. I've been a huge fan of Mike since March 2020, but I've been aware of his work since January 2016.
Subbed, haven’t seen you since you played the pizza place, you’re still killing it.
Watch American Dad all the time but somehow missed the Toto Africa episode until last night, first was the surprise then came laughter but what an excellent complaint to you and Jeff.
Great song from a very underrated band. Lovely arrangement and great vox as usual!
Btw, how are you getting that "kick" drum sound?
My left foot is playing a stomp pedal. It’s a “bunyip” model by Wild Dog Stomp in Australia. I love it. www.wilddogstomp.com/product/bunyip/
Brilliant as always. When are you in Dublin again?
