... Doing a little research, "Summum" is a faith/religion which derives from Latin "summus", meaning "highest" - and in the context of the faith, is referring to "the sum of all creation". The faith itself is based on a proposal for the inherent laws regarding the nature of Creation, but most of its teachings seem a little too specific and/or irrelevant to draw a connection to this unique individual here. It seems that this dragon is a more literal reference: it's described as "nearly perfect", and is the only Green encounter to be completely stable - the others sort of shimmering between either of their Dark and Light halves, and them described as "unstable". Summum here also appears in vastly different detail to anything else, in how they visibly appear to be 3D, and have details and texture along the shapes that compose their form. I'd imagine, considering Summum's few lines, that they're another potential "apex" of this universe, an equal to what the our two characters have amassed by working in perfect tandem. Summum even sits atop a summit of sorts, atop a difficult platforming challenge that sends you hurtling all the way back to the start if you fail. Summum is a naturally arising "ideal", while you perhaps are something more... unnatural, choosing to communicate with your counterpart rather than absorbing them. And Summum, the zenith of anything that can happen in this natural world, seems to be testing you to see who might be more capable of confronting... whatever higher being is encountered at the very end. Maybe they're suggesting something you can't do - but it's possible they might also be providing some context for the end, where the universe is reborn, but as something... very different than before. You chose what to create, rather than letting the higher power simply try whatever this "experiment" is yet another time. ... It's also interesting how Summum's little domain resides so far off the rest of the map. Perhaps they were powerful enough to create an entire space, all of the challenges required to simply reach them a test to determine if you're even capable of confronting them to begin with (since when they first appear, the characters seem to wince and collapse in the mere presence of Summum).
Thanks again for the read, quite interesting to see that perspective. Honestly some people think “God” can be absorbed, and I think our protagonists actually do to break the endless cycle. Might as well be similar to how nature evolves too, its all a cycle until something breaks it to evolve into a new different cycle.
A small but easy tip for this fight is that if the body that got stolen has a hand/sword charge, it will always use the charge as its first attack. So an easy counter would be to give the orange character a charge and then give up his body, and if you have a charged shield on blue, you can one cycle that section by using (in no specific order) 2x max lightning, 1 sword charge and like, 2 swings and the section is over damagless. I haven’t found a one cycle for the orange character but I don’t use them that much apart from the essential times
Another tip for people who main the blue character is that Summum has an ability that heals you that looks remarkably like a powerful attack. The difference is the charge time but the problem is that you can parry both regardless, and parrying it removes the effect. Lost a lot of runs to parrying it. And if you have assimilation charged on orange and need health after the flair. Aim to use it on either that attack or the attack with 2 lasers and a strike, as dodging the strike is actually pretty easy.
Another thing for the early section of the fight, don’t bother collecting more than just 1 fist charge in the orange character if your planning on sacking them when Summum takes the body, because all charges end up lost once you get the character back. After that though you don’t lose charges ever. Also the green combo attack for box types doesn’t do much absorption compared to charged bow/whip moves. Don’t bother with it
My hands aren’t as dexterous as most and I panic a lot when I make a mistake. So when I found this video after trying to fight the boss a ton and losing and realised it didn’t have many ‘true’ tips that were explained more than shown and a barebones strategy that didn’t explain the why, I thought that someone else like me might want to know some things that most don’t notice because for them it’s common sense. Hope this all helps and if people need more tips please just ask.
@@bigmonkey1254the shorter one is healing, and looks very similar to the single laser attack you can see at around 7:40. The main difference is that if you get a feel for the sound and timings of that attack, you can feel that the heal is shorter. Sick execution. A couple of extra tips: -Bow Technique and Whip technique are both the best to deal absorption damage. Use both. -Abuse Assist every turn with both characters, will help breaking "blocks" and dealing extra absorption damage when on x200% -All magics lvl2, regular Bow attacks and Seal attacks deal a good amount of absorption damage, sprinkle more of them and not repeat too many sword/melee attacks to devalue their absorption properties. -Both Guard Impact-Counter and Assimilation-CounerSpell are useful to interrupt the enemy's turn and will negate "block" regeneration or reset of type of "block", making it easier to keep track of what kind of attack to use. -Both Whip and Axe can break their "block" type with ease, best to use when wanting that than regular Sword/Melee strikes (unless you want to charge a technique) But yeah, congrats on beating the hardest boss of the game! Made to be a true test of skill and planing!

Official media states that this game takes place in a newly formed universe, where the laws of reality don't yet exist, and that these beings are "trapped in an eternal conflict by the polarising nature of their attractions." Leading me to believe this game is symbolic of the war between matter and antimatter that occurred in the first microseconds of the universe. The prevelance of matter versus antimatter is something of an unsolved problem in physics, and this game symbolizes that journey to becoming dominant. Summum, then, might represent a perfectly "ideal" universe, where matter and antimatter are equal. But that then would lead to them destroying each other, leaving only dark energy in the universe.

Great vid! By the way, how do you quickly teleport down as a knight from mid-air to follow up your combo? Whenever I try to, I just fall down after my mid-air combo...
Yeah sometimes it happened, I think it might be one of the teleport abilities but not sure, I tried to not go up in the sky much, but you can use the axe to get down as well.
The attack timing unpgrade (the one that lets you deal more absorption if you press attack when you hit the enemy instead of spamming) also gives you a 4th hit, I'm pretty sure the 4th hit for the aerial combo brings you down to the floor to save time like how the 4th grounded hit immediately leads into the combo again instead of having endlag.
I know it's a relatively old video, but question: when you reach the boss, can you like, save, take a break, and get back to the game, without having to redo the whol parkour? I REALLY don't want to do it all again. as fun as it was to conquer.
