I met my first boyfriend this year, we were long distance and edited a magazine together. He recently passed from Cancer which has devastated me and I am totally numb but through the year, he introduced me to some great authors. He introduced me to Jean-Paul Sartre and Beauvoir and the existentialist movement. These authors are incredibly enriching and they added to my personal philosophies on life. I was introduced to Honoré De Balzac and Jan Potocki (The Manuscript Found In Saragossa). We had a wonderful time discussing the politics and philosophies of these novels that so greatly enriched our lives, all the while enriching each other’s lives through our love and connection. He sent me so many books to go through and he was the pinnacle of intelligence and beauty. All of these books greatly improved my personal thought and I went on to discuss these in my personal essays and poetry.

Top five in no order: The Nickel Boys, All the Light We Cannot See, Jane Eyre, Purple Hibiscus, Small island. Read a lot more this year than I have in the past, partially because of free time but also because of watching you and the reminder of how fun reading is❤️ thank you, thank you, and happy new year Noelle

I will say, first half is very slow and not much happens but the background really highlights the injustice of what happened to the ‘Nickel boys’

Glad we could all share these college years with you! Got me into reading during Covid ! Forever thank you- aka - random stranger in AZ lol
I found your channel in march when because of the pandemic, the end of my studies and some other things really were a hard pill to swallow. I was at my lowest! Then, I started watching all your videos, signed up on goodreads, followed you on instagram and threw myself into reading (again). I made it to 58 books this year, besides finishing my law degree and I can‘t thank you enough noelle, as you are a true role model for me and just by hearing you talk, it makes my mood brighten up and I feel relaxed and home! thank you for making my 2020 tolerable. If you were here in Austria right now I would just give you a huge hug! ❤️
YESSS IM SO READY FOR THIS. My top 5: The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo, The Vanishing Half, My Dark Vanessa, Daisy Jones and the Six, Ready Player One
I just discovered you because I'm getting back into reading in 2021 and needed suggestions. I absolutely trust your judgement and plenty of these are now on my list. Thanks so much! Subscribed!
The Vanishing Half is my top book of the year! I'm definitely not a "read things more than once" type of person, but I'm definitely going to read it again.
I've read (or have already bought and are on my TBR) so many of these because of you! You were the first booktuber I found this year and I'm so happy and grateful that I did! Your videos and love for books helped fuel my love for books and get me through a really tough school semester. So THANK YOU!
Dark Matter was my favorite book of 2019, and I loved it and talked about it so much that this and and I listened to it together on audiobook this year and I loved it just as much then.
Thank you for everything you’ve done this year 💛 I don’t think you have an idea of how much great positive impact you’ve made on us, you helped me start to read again and I’ll truly be forever grateful I found not only someone to look up to, but also someone that I feel connected to (even if we’re not friends haha but I mean I feel like you will be there for me, even if you don’t know me, to make me smile or to recommend a great book, just like you can be CERTAIN I’ll be here for you too) Have a great 2021 queen petunia 💛
ugh the way no matter how I feel when I watch one of your videos, i always and i mean *ALWAYS* feel so much better when i hear you talk and just see you. Of course, you talking about books (which I love so deeply) is one of the reasons but not only that. You have this great positive, lovely, creative, smart energy/atmosphere around you it's reaching me through the display and I'm so thankful for that. I hope you always keep that energy and never lose your beautiful smile. I wish you a happy new year noelle! May 2021 bring you lots of great things like health, love, peace and happiness! Thank you for delighting my moments by sharing videos filled with your opinions about books etc.
My top 5 of the year were: The woman in the window - A J Finn The davinci code - Dan Brown The Missing - Jane Casey The Luminaries - Eleanor Catton Behind her eyes - Sarah Pinborough
I’m so glad that I stumbled upon your videos earlier this month! You’ve really helped me get back into reading and made me realize how much I love and missed it! Thank you!! 🖤🖤🖤
I feel like the joy you experienced finding misery and the hating game is equivalent to the joy I feel about devoting myself to you and your channel this year!!!! ILY
It's been such a weird year & I really want to thank you for all the wonderful videos you've posted! I really hope you're spending a great time with your loved ones & I wish you all really good things this coming year, hope you stay safe and healthy! ❤️✨
noelles youtube channel is the reason that I got back into reading at the end of 2020, so my top 5 books of the year are anxious people, an absolutely remarkable thing, red white and royal blue, such a fun age, and the invisible life of addie la rue!
Happy new year, Noelle. Things that made my 2020 easier 1. Reading 2. Meditation & Family Time 3. One particular red haired booktuber who keeps it real.
One of the reasons why I love watching your channel, and that you are one of my favorite booktubers is that even when I disagree with you, I still love the way you talk about them! I am so glad that I discovered you earlier this year when I joined Booktube and that you have blown up! You deserve it. Happy new year.
Discovering your channel has been one of the highlights of 2020! I’ve surpassed my 2020 goodreads challenge by 400% and a lot of it is because of you! In a year where I’ve not been able to see my family because they literally live on the other side of the planet; my job as a grade 5 teacher has been it’s most challenging with virtual learning and COVID closures; I’ve lost people this year. That said, reading has been able to get me through it. Thank you for inspiring me, your positive and candid energy and some great recommendations! Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. ❤️🧡💛💚💜
My sweet Noelle, I hope 2021 brings you nothing but joy and health. You've really played a huge role in helping me reading more books again, despite how tired I feel with uni. Thank you for that. My absolute favourite book of the year was Girl, Woman, Other 💕
My top five: -The Sorrows of Young Werther by Goethe. -The Foundation by Antonio Buero Vallejo. -The Color Purple by Alice Walker. -The Picture of Dorian Gray by Oscar Wilde. -The Grapes of the Wrath by John Steinbeck.
Holyyyy moly was I looking forward to this video! So happy I found your channel right before the new year! Thank you for being true to yourself and sharing your love for books with us 🤗
Thank you so much for making my year better! I love your videos and how upbeat they are. They're a nice distraction from what has been going on in 2020. I haven't watched a booktuber yet who has kept me wanting to watch the way you have. You're amazing and I can't wait to see what 2021 brings for your channel! ❤❤❤
❄My top 5 favorite books of this year are : 🌟Keeper of The Lost Cities 💖 🌟 Edenbrooke by Julianne Donaldson 💖 🌟Seeking Persephone by Sarah M. Eden 💖 🌟The House in the Cerulean Sea 💖 🌟I love you so Mochi by Sarah Kuhn 💖
You seem like such an awesome person 💓 I love listening to you talk about the books you love, it's so wholesome 😊 I plan to read a lot of these! Thank you for making this video!
thank you for making my 2020 so much better with your videos! you were one of the people that motivated me to start reading again, so thank you so much
Read and LOVED the hating game thanks to you ☺️ The stand, the vanishing half, all the light we cannot see, east of Eden and the goldfinch were my top 5 reads of 2020!
I never planned on reading The Hating Game but I saw you mention it so many times that I asked for it for Christmas, binge read it in two days, and then spent the next day rereading my favorite chapters because there was a giant hole in my heart when I got to the last page and desperately needed more Josh and Lucy. Thank you so much for recommending it so often, it is for sure a new romance favorite!!
omg Noelle! you were so right about the hating game!! I finished it yesterday and Im already thinking of reading it again! what a gem, thank you so much!!
Ahhhh so many good books on this list!!! I only haven’t read a few and those are on my TBR! 🥰 it makes me so happy how much you love The Hating Game! That book is just so freaking good 😫 and omg everything you said about The Shining is so true and spot on! The book is so different from the movie and I didn’t expect that either since I watched the film like a million times before I read the book haha
I know I’m like a month late to the gig but I wanted to add my fave books of 2020 because I hadn’t seen them cropping up on booktok/booktube and I felt that they deserved some recognition ya know 1. Soul Tourists (Bernadine Evaristo) 2. A Monster Calls (Patrick Ness) 3. Call Me By Your Name (André Aciman) 4. The Children Act (Ian McEwan) 5. If Beale Street Could Talk (James Baldwin)
i CAN NOT freaking wait to read with you next year. it's so good to have something to look forward at times like now. you were such a light, mama petunia. happy new year 🍓
That's so great to hear about Song of Achillies because I've always been intimidated by it for some reason. And YES Hood Feminism! That made it to my "best of 2020" list too!
1. Goldfinch 2. Count of Monte Cristo 3. Don Quixote 4. A little life 5. Mythos/Circe (tied) Edit Ready player one is in my top ten books of 2020. I can't believe I understood almost all pop culture references from the last 30 years. This feature helped me relate so much as a geek. The best thing about shining is the depiction of dry alcoholism. Don't recommend it to potential readers though. Green Mile is kings best work along with misery. (Hehe when I typed this I didn't know misery would top your books) Goldfinch is my all time favourite book now.
my top 5 very random collection of favorites are probably: -the hating game -ready player one -Untamed -call me by your name -i know why the caged bird sings
Can I ask if you liked the CMBYN movie? I read the book without seeing it and I adore the book but I can’t sit through the movie but I adore the cast and the style of it and everything is perfect but I just don’t like it?? Sorry I’m always curious if others enjoyed the movie if they read the book

Have a great 2021 queen petunia 💛
ugh the way no matter how I feel when I watch one of your videos, i always and i mean *ALWAYS* feel so much better when i hear you talk and just see you.

One of the reasons why I love watching your channel, and that you are one of my favorite booktubers is that even when I disagree with you, I still love the way you talk about them!
Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. ❤️🧡💛💚💜

Ready player one is in my top ten books of 2020. I can't believe I understood almost all pop culture references from the last 30 years. This feature helped me relate so much as a geek.
The best thing about shining is the depiction of dry alcoholism. Don't recommend it to potential readers though. Green Mile is kings best work along with misery. (Hehe when I typed this I didn't know misery would top your books)
Goldfinch is my all time favourite book now.
My entire january TBR is in this video and that just made me SO EXCITED for this month of reading. Happy New Year, Noelle!
my top 5 very random collection of favorites are probably:
-the hating game
-ready player one
-Untamed
-call me by your name
-i know why the caged bird sings
Can I ask if you liked the CMBYN movie? I read the book without seeing it and I adore the book but I can’t sit through the movie but I adore the cast and the style of it and everything is perfect but I just don’t like it?? Sorry I’m always curious if others enjoyed the movie if they read the book
