Thanks for watching - if you like this video, remember to share it with your friends!
Thanks man, totally saved 6 precious blank polaroids from the original time zero run!
Was it really good working film? I’ve got a cart of 06 expired Time Zero with 3 photos in it currently.
I have always wondered how best to do this! I love instant film but sometimes I want to take the same photo but maybe in black and white or different frames so this is incredibly useful! Thanks for making this video and sharing your technique :)
Thanks for the Tip!
I usualy change it in a darkbag, but your method is more easy and can be used without the darkbag.
Cheers keep up with this channel!
New subscriber and analog enthusiast as well 💛 can you make a video about tricks to capture a cool photo with polaroid?
Thanks Greys, yeah i'm kinda working on a little tips and tricks video, alot todo for me ;)
Great tip. I'm trying to fix the focus on one of these cameras by trial and error, so being able to take a pic, see how I did, and make adjustments (on an empty, disassembled camera) will be great.
Nice! I like your channel a lot. Keep on!
+derWANKA Thanks
Thank you for this clear, informative video. I was able to switch film packs on the first try.
Thanks Marco for this and for all your videos!!!! Great job!
Thanks Marina
If using a dark bag, you could skip a step. Remove the pack, then insert the dark side without having to contend with the camera.
The dark slide will eject when the pack is next inserted into a camera.
I've done something similar in the past with my instax.
Yes! I was just gifted an sx-70. I put film in it and my first two shots were pure white. I think the rollers maybe are sticky. I wasn’t sure if I could pull the cartridge out without exposing the film or if it was even possible at all. Now I know!
Thanks for the vid!
Cool, thank you! I need to test a used camera and don’t want to waste the film pack.
Thank you ! That was really helpful👍 I am looking forward starting to photograph with polaroids in the future and this channel helps a lot💯
+G. B. cool hope you capture some nice moments
Analog Things Yeah ! :) For sure 😄 I am really hyped for the upcoming videos on this channel👍 Keep up the good work :) Greetings from Germany
+G. B. i will just recording the next video
Analog Things Awesome !! :)
Thank you for showing this! I need to test two new to me SX-70 cameras today but I only have one pack of film!
what happens when you put the partially used pack back in? Do you just shoot a double exposure on the frame you used to "dark slide" the pack or does it auto eject it like the darkslide when you put a new pack in?
Marvin Eastman I think it ejects like a darkslide
As you're sliding it back in, you can gently slide the top piece out at the same time.
@@gillianl8932 ^don't do that! the camera will always spit out the top 'thing' (whether it's a picture or darkslide) when a film pack is introduced. the picture you've inserted to protect the unexposed polaroids does not only that, but it also serves as a 'darkslide' the camera can eject when the pack is put in. if you remove the picture, when you close the film door, the camera will eject whatever's on top, which will be one of your remaining, unexposed, pictures.

This is great! Thank you! How much time would you say it is safe to left a cartridge inside the camera? (I have an old/original Polaroid onestep flash)
Enjoying your Polaroid videos! Would like to see some of your Polaroid photos you've shot.
+Instantphojo Thanks! You can take a look at my website mck-photography.com but it's just a small portfolio. Will try to show some more works in the future videos.
Great tip. Exactly what I was looking for. Thanks!
Somehow, i didn't throw away The Black carton wich covers The film cartrige. Thanks for The advices.
Thank you. I love the accent!
Thanks, had to check if I had a film left, did an important shot.
Hi! Thanks a lot!
You solved my problem, because I'm planning to buy SX-70, but don't have SX70 pack to test and my 600 pack is in camera... Problem solved!
Great channel.
Great idea, but I will use the dark bag for sure
Hi, I love your videos. Polaroid 600 How To really helped me to understand my camera which I recently received. Thanks, I will keep checking on your channel. Where are you from by the way?
Hey Taras, thats great and hope you will have alot of fun with your Polaroid 600. I come from the beautiful country called austria ;)
Why Polaroid Originals films only have 8 slides instead of the classic 10 photos films?
when they started as impossible it was because the battery they used was thicker so there wasnt enough space, now they stick with it
Thanks this really helped. I had two one-steps and the first one I tried the photo got stuck halfway through the camera.
Hello I see that you are very experienced with Polaroid and I wanted to ask you if you can tell me how you can adjust the shutter of a Polaroid sx 70 and if maybe you carry out repairs? Thank you
this is such a good tip, works so well thankyouuu!!!
How do you prevent the camera taking a photo once you put it back in later? I found out the hard way, and after reinstalling the half used film it took a photo, I guess thinking it was ejecting the top cover :/
Thanks man for the hack! you got ur self a new subscriber 😉
so if you just open the camera it won't expose the film unless you pull the cartridge out?
yes
How did it go from 6 frames to 4 frames when u changed the back did you end up loosing 2 frames doing this ? I just got a Polaroid wanting to change film
Thanks for your sharing!! Can onestep 2 do the same thing? And can I use the original black paper cover on the film to do this?
Thank you!!! Very helpful!
Hi, Analog Things, i got a question and i really will be thankful if you read me, i got an old SX70 online, i took a shot and it developed so dark, is there a way to fix it? what could it be? I learned a lot with your videos, Greetings from México.
this was super useful! Why didnt I think of this haha
I store my partially used cassettes in old 4x5 film boxes as they are plenty light tight
haha you confused me quite a bit with this, cause i was thinking about polaroid 4x5 boxes ;) but yeah regular 4x5 film boxes should work fine
Did you get my message about shooting integral film with your 4x5?
hey! i'm new to polaroids and have been wondering about this question for a while! thank you for answering it!
question: would this work with any type of camera and film? I have the onestep2 and i-type film. Thanks
should work just fine ;)
@@AnalogThings thank you!
legend thanks
Awesome! Thank you
Is the safe light (red light) in the dark room also safe to those polaroid films?
+李超 No, they will be exposed by red light.
Analog Things that's good to know, thanks. Really liked your videos.
+李超 Great hope it was of help.
Can you use the dark film on top during the switching technique?
Great video, thanks! I'll have to check out your channel.
This is a great trick.
I have found an old Image Elite at my parents in laws, and I realised there is still a film (probably with 5shots still) in the camera. When I try to take a photo, it doesn't seem to work, and I think it's because the battery in the film pack is empty. Any tricks on how I can fix this?
Thanks.
I believe you will have to buy a new film pack that has the battery within the pack
Sehr tolle und informative Videos! :)
Vielen lieben dank!
That was great, thanks
Is it possible to use the dark slide instead of a discarded print? Seems to me the dark slide is somewhat thinner and has the benefit of being black. Love your videos!
+Michael Schroeder Hey Michael, yes it is possible to use the darkslide but i found it alot harder to fiddle it in at the last part since the edge of it is not rounded as one of a regular frame. The frame also has a black layer and is mostly black on the background, what would be the benefit of this in your optinion?
Thanks ;)
Analog Things Danke Marco! Good point, I hadn’t thought of that. I’m getting back into instant film after a 30 year hiatus and watching your videos, I bought a MiNT SX670-S, which is on the way! I too did the Lomo’Square Kickstarter program. The Lomo arrived four days ago. Kind of plasticy though. I’m going to send it to my daughter in law to use with their baby. Hopefully, she will develop (pun intended) an interest in photography beyond her cell phone snaps. I sent your excellent RUclips video of the Lomo to whet her interest. Having experience with higher end DSLR cameras, I splurged on a more serious in$tant film camera. Your English is excellent and I enjoy your RUclips videos most of all. Keep up your fine work, Marco.
Hey Michael, ohh the MiNT cameras are pretty nice hope you enjoy using it. Well i don't find it to bad but if you already have the MiNT i understand you and i'm sure they will have alot of fun with the camera.
Thanks and will do!
Hi, would it be possible to transfer an I-type cartridge film (in a dark room) to a 600 cartridge? I-type is generally more available and is cheaper. Also it would be allow me to use an old cartridge that has a working battery. Is it hard to open the plastic flap on a new unopened film cart?
PeppyBerryman yeah you can do that but you have break where it where it get out the film and get film and metal thing get rid of paper on bottom and replace with a battery you will feel 2 holes entering on batter pack and then put film and metal and battery in a plastic cover that belong with Polaroid 600 film and you tell because you will see theso 2 metal battery things - and + and tape where you break it real good because you don’t want to mess up and then you save $3 do you know what I mean
Can you break down that little plastic in the front of the cartridge? I always do, cause when I don’t the frames get stuck inside the camera.
yes, but do it in a dark enviroment since it covers the first layer frok light leaks, but there is a little plastic foil that covers it too
Analog Things Thank you for the quick answer! Love your channel!
do you know of a way to remove a film canister if the sticker to pull the film pack out was removed? i have a spectra af if that helps, thanks!
you should be able to pull it out on grabing it on the sides,if that doesnt work you can also use something to grab the plastic and pull, but it should be doable by hand
I inserted mines wrong and I want to take them out without breaking it
Have you had success moving I type film to 600 cartridges ?
yes, pretty easy
Analog Things video in the future perhaps
Thanks a lot! wish I knew before I messed one up tho hahah
dont worry, we all mess up ;)
I used this advice and it broke my Polaroid lab. Don't do it!
